Hope you guys enjoy this one! A little different film style but playing around with some new things, let me know what you think! (:
Great video, bud! Congrats on some great fish. A few tips when spey casting. Cast downstream at 45° angles. This will make for a more consistent swing and more tight line presentation. Point your feet in the direction you want the cast to go, and it will make your casting a lot easier. Hope these few tips help.
Thanks so much! Sweet tips, I’ll definitely continue to practice those techniques! 🤙🏼
he is fishing a bead.....
Your not really Spey fishing more like nymphing with a Switch rod. Appears to be an effective technique and keeps your fly in the water longer. Nice job
Uhh, he’s not swinging flies. Notice the bobber?
Amazing fish!!
Great video Grant. Really enjoyed this!
Thanks so much Matt! Really appreciate it
Don't really see an issue with the way you're spey casting for indicator fishing! If you're going to swing flies, different story. Nice fish my friend!
Thanks man! Appreciate you🙌🍻
Yeah it literally started dumping snow again right as you dropped this “spring” fishing video. This weather is playing with our emotions.
No kidding!! That is so funny! 😂🙌🏼
Well done! Production on this video is CRAZY
Thanks so much man! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
What kinda Spey rod are you using and what kind of rod was your friend using?
What Idaho River is this, if you don’t mind me asking.
Use to fish the Clearwater out of Lewiston ID. They use to have a Tournement for biggest Steelhead there. Crazy. !6lbs was the biggest Steelhead I ever caught on a fly rod. The longest journey from the ocean to a hatchery in Idaho for a steelhead.
That is awesome! 👏🏼 they are one of the coolest fish man.
What rod, reel, and line set up do you have?
Love the Vid want to see more! Only critique is one of the fish being out of water over 10 seconds!
I try to be as good as possible. Got a little carried away with this stunning fish, I’ll be better in the future! Fish still kicked off great!!
Great drone footage! This video is giving me the 🎣 itch. Got a switch rod for Christmas and can’t wait to use it!
Thanks so much!! That is awesome, you definitely need to break that it!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Love the B-Roll, the second trip was the ticket 😂
I guess so man! 😂🙌🏼
What an adventure. 🐟🎣 Love the footage you captured.
Thanks so much! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
16:19 what a lovely female steelhead! I am surprised to see quite a few fishermen there!
Great video as always! Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks so much man!! Really appreciate it🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great video, advise is to keep the fishes mouth in the water at all time. The survival rate decreases dramatically once you start pulling them out of the water. No hero shot needed to take a quick snapshot of it in the water for a reference. Be content that you got a chance to shake hands with a beautiful creature. Good luck out there. Enjoy the speedy journey.!
Appreciate the feedback! Tight lines!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Congratulations! You don't hook steelhead, they hook you. Even at 6-12 hours of fishing per-landed-fish on average. That's a lot of empty Go-Pro footage, and batteries!
I'd have a hard time releasing that hatchery fish. Good eating, and a big hawg too!
(lol, I thought I was watching Robby Layton for a second when this vid popped up in my feed)
Thank you and very true!! So much scrape footage just waiting for that one take! Appreciate your support🤙🏼🍻
Great film work! Those steelhead are gorgeous!
Right bro! Appreciate your support man!🙌🏼
@@FireflyFishing Always enjoy watching your videos!
Nice fish! I use to fish the same area years ago. Just like you said, the fish move a lot and it can be hard to find them. Did you guys go up into the reservation at all?
Thank you!! We didn’t on this trip, plan on doing so in the near future! 🤙🏼
Spey tip. Take the bobber off
Like a sink tip then swing? If so I plan on swinging for some steel this weekend🤞🏼
Thank you for sharing your time on the water. Good stuff.
Great video, nice fish. What river area are you in?
Great fish guys. And great video work too. Looked like scenes out of a movie like A River Runs Through It. Maybe you should update your thumbnail with you holding that last steelhead. What a thrill bringing that one in must have been.
Thanks so much! Appreciate your support! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Flyfishing for Steelhead is a challenge. Years ago, I spent a month on the Babine, Stikeen, Kispiox, and Dean. Even with an abundance of fish, it was tough. Great video...
It’s very tough but rewarding! Thanks so much!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’m in the Boise area. You wanna know more about spey fishing let’s try and get in touch. I go up to Lewiston and visit my brother and fish the big rivers often with him.
Dude that’d be sick! Just hit you with a request on IG 🤙🏼
We were the guys fishing on the other side (my dad was fly fishing for the first time across from you), you absolutely slayed em in there!
Awesome man!! We got very lucky, fished the same spot last week and got skunked! Hope you guys got onto some fish! 🤙🏼
Curious on time of year? What month was this filmed? And what region if you don’t mind sharing?
This was filmed this month!
Nice job Grant! Great fish and I appreciate your reaching out for Spey casting tips.
Thanks so much Mike! Always trying to get better 🎣
Nice fish Firefly🐟 Crazy to see the fish moving already

Thanks so much!! Appreciate your kind comment 🙌🏼
Nice video. It would have been awesome in a higher resolution.
Sorry you weren’t able to experience this video in higher quality! It just rendered in 4k if you want to watch in higher quality! Appreciate your support!
How cool. Thank you!!!@@FireflyFishing
Wow that’s a hell of a fish
Thanks so much!!
Beautiful fish🎣real nice
Thanks so much 👍
What rod and line are you using to two hand indicator fish?
Sage R8 13’0 8WT with AirFlo running line & Rio Skagit Max Launch Shooting Head
Good on you guys. What time of year is this?
so beautiful love it
Thanks so much!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Indicators on a spey rod. Minus well just pull out the gear?
😂 nah man!
lose the bobber swing em up
I wish they would close this river. Fishing for summer runs in February on a spawning trib lacks some ethics. These fish are way more fun to chase in the fall on the big river.
