In this episode I start 2 new projects for the new year. The first is an RTO kit called 'With The Flavour Of Sea, Sand and Salt. The second one is A Dimensions Gold Kit called 'Wreath Of All Seasons"

Hi Christine. Glad your surgery went well. I love the Dimensions wreath kit you’re working on. Such beautiful colors! I agree with you, I’m glad January is over. I live in Minnesota and it’s been a very snowy winter. We have owls in our neighborhood and they seem very wary because I’ll open the window to listen and if they’re on a neighbors roof or tree they fly away. Hope you have a good February.

Oh wow...that is an unlikely place for skin cancer! Isn't that wreath cute! I recorded an unboxing of it and now I can't wait to dig in to some of those hearts!

@@calico_whimsy It's called "Winter Wonderland" and has a snowy Santa or St. Nick dress in white and blues along with a white reindeer with the stocking just having a "snowy" and sparkly appearance. I did the corresponding ornaments last year and wanted the stocking to go along with them to use a decoration. I'm really enjoying it so far!

I love that wreath!!! I'm currently working on a Domensions kit that is a a half circle of flowers and the words To have and to hold from
This day forward. I can see so much of my kit in the wreath. But I TOTALLY AGREE about the minimal floss. I screwed up with some pink leaving me with one strand left at the end. DONT screw up. These aren't DMC threads and it will be hard to replace the threads. I'm currently doing a ton of back stitching and thinking "this kit really has all of the challenges... back stitching, French knots, cording and couching. I think you back stitch as you go. I'm currently back stitching just to prolong moving my q snap.
Thank you! I just looked up the kit you're working on and I do see some familiar motifs, for sure!! It sounds like yours has some quite challenging things. That's how Finery Of Nature, is! It scares me a little, lol. As for the floss, I save the leftovers from ALL my dimensions kits, just in case I run out!
How nice to have your surgery over with and you are healing so well🙂. You made a lot of great progress on your stitching this month: I am almost convinced to just work on two things myself! I have Wreath of all Seasons as a WIP. I find it goes swimmingly when I do actually work on it, but once I put it away I procrastinate on picking it back up again. Too bad because it is so pretty and relatively easy for a Dimensions Gold kit! Have a great February: see you next month!
I know exactly what you mean about the wreath kit! I just know if I put it away, it may not see the light of day again. I think I've decided to keep it near me at all times this year. Maybe I have inspired you to pull yours out and put some stitches in! :)
Hi Christine. It was so lovely to catch up with you. I’m glad your skin surgery procedure went well. I really enjoyed seeing your progress over the month. I have a few of the beautiful Dimensions Gold wreaths but obviously have yet to start any! I loved seeing your owl at the end. I hear owls all the time where I live and have all my life but have yet to see one and I am now in my mid-forties!! Hi Kerry! I really think you would enjoy stitching one of the wreaths. Maybe you can get started on one as soon as you feel up to it. I'm STILL enjoying mine, but trying to resist all the other projects calling to me!
Those owls are very elusive, but I'm happy just hearing them as well. Makes me yearn for Halloween :) Thanks for hangin out with me!

I'm sure you're relieved that surgery is over. Happy it went well and your skin recovered nicely. The Dimensions kit you found from 2002 looks very similar to the style of Paula Vaughan. Don't know if you are familiar with her? You can still find her cross stitch work online in the secondary market. I found a Leisure Arts book featuring her work at a thrift store and it has many wonderful charts. "The Romance of Paula Vaughan" 1993. Similar to your new Dimensions kit, her works are classics that don't go out of style (in my opinion). Have a wonderful month ahead.
Thank you! Oh YES, I'm very familiar with Paula Vaughn. As a matter of fact, when I first learned to cross stitch, the first thing I bought was her book ' A Quilt For All Seasons' and I decided I would stitch one each month, LOL! I only did the first one and it took FOREVER. I talk about it in my very first flosstube if you're so inclined to watch :) Anyway, I still have the plan to stitch them all from that book someday!

The wreath is beautiful Christine, and the gull, I also love your new kit it’s a very peaceful looking scene. Did you finish your stockings? I can’t remember if you finished them all, and the one for yourself? Love the owl, I don’t think I’ve heard one here, but we do live close to the city. Your face has healed well, my dad had a biopsy taken on Monday for possible skin cancer, he has the results in 6 weeks..I really hope it’s not! He has had the issue on his face for a few yrs and it recently got very ugly I wish he had went before now but he hates a fuss 😢 Have a lovely weekend , and a productive stitching time ❤

I will be keeping your dad in my thoughts as he waits for the results of his biopsy. 6 weeks seems awfully long to wait....I found out in a day or two.
@@calico_whimsy our nhs is in a terrible state, he was lucky to even get seen as quick 😢, hopefully he will get them a bit earlier,m usually it’s around 2 weeks. I remember seeing the 2 stockings you finished., there is a lot of work involved I’m sure the others will get done in due course 🙂
