    Congratulations on the quilt and chickadees finish - it's beautiful! I'm catching up on your FlossTube videos and loved seeing the finish on the Halloween house from Mill Hill. I've not stitched with the glow-in-the-dark beads...yet. Definitely on the list given the projects you've done with them. Enjoy hearing about the boys and their adventures. Yes, we've watched them grow up through your videos. I learned to drive a stick shift and have always had a manual transmission. It's a good, FUN, skill to have. Enjoy the holiday weekend. Happy stitching!

    Beautiful job on the chickadees! ❤ I love the shadowing on the quilt. It looks like either an early morning, or early evening sun. 😊

    Hi Christine! I love your video's and I love to hear about your life adventures.
    You can never talk too much!
    Here in Holland where I life the majority of the cars are manual cars and driving in an automatic transmission car is not common. Such a difference! Your son did a really great job to learn to drive so fast in a clutch car ( is that how you say it) 😂
    Looking forward to your next video and greetings from Holland 🌷

    Nice! Chickadees are my favorite birds. They are fun to watch.
    I got dive bombed by a pair of hummers one day this summer. I won't wear that bright pink/purple shirt again. (I don't like teasing them.)
    We've seen a bald eagle twice in the last month. (We spent the summer in Grand County.)
    I didn't learn to drive a stick as a youth. My spouse taught me when we were engaged. We drove up to Laramie to see my brother at the U of Wyoming. On the way back we drove to Cheyenne on 80. It was night and very quiet. I got off at every off ramp and back on. I got lots of opportunity to stall or not upon accelerating uphill.

    Beautiful finish on the Dimensions chickadees❤. Love the IRL footage of one too! I would love to propose a finishing challenge for the wreath, but I am pretty sure I would have to bow out by October😂. I agree about the clutch/standard transmission: that's what my first cars were and I feel it makes you a better driver with more control of your vehicle. Best of luck to your boys this semester!

    Ohh I'm so happy you decided to stick with the chickadees! It is so cute and wonderful how it turned out! I believe the hummingbird visitor was a female ruby throated or black chinned hummingbird, but don't hold me to it! :D I wonder if that was a juvenile coopers hawk.

    I'm A big fan. When yuu stitch these larger pieces, do you use parking, do you finish off threads at every color change or do you carry floss across blank spaces on the back and if so how far will you carry floss? The dimensions kits have a lot of color changes frequently and the last one I did I kept finishing off the floss and starting over slowly building upon what I had done, but was so many color changes it was really tedious.

    • @calico_whimsy
      @calico_whimsy  Рік тому

      Well, I actually do a variety of methods depending on the chart. I will start a color, and try to stitch all the stitches of that color in close vicinity until there are no more of that symbol. I will carry my threads, but only if the will eventually be covered by other stitches in the future. I don't carry threads over areas that will be blank. Sometimes I carry threads across an already stitched area by running it under existing stitches so there will not be a long piece of thread along the back. I hope that makes sense. I absolutely hate starting and stopping threads and try to avoid it at all costs, lol! Hope that made sense!

    Was happy to see this this evening so watched in bed! Beautiful finish, the quilt looks real, we call those birds coal tits here in the UK, we have coal tits, blue tits , great tits and long tailed tits which are my favourite ❤️ as usual I enjoyed your update, will watch again I’m sure, I always watch them several times in the month😀
