I hope you do make a video on your equipment. I have no idea what to get. Give me a heads up. I'm a beginner at 175lb I'm 48 years old and I don't want to do any crazy tricks. Just a good solid motor and wing. Quiet would be nice. I'm kinda wanting a quad not sure yet. Thanks so much for your videos your a great teacher and no way will I try this without professional training.

Thank you! PS: There is no way in hell I would ever pick up this hobby! I don’t like heights even though I have several pilots in our family. My grandpa always used to take us for rides in his Piper Cub and Fairchild. I grew up in Racine, WI. He flew me up to the EAA museum and brought me back to school once to UW Eau Claire.

As somebody who loves these videos and at 71 will likely never be able to fly like this I do appreciate the basic understanding you just gave us how the paramotor actually flies and what trimmed out means, how you rise or gain lift and how you turn the wing or rather the reason it works when you tug on the lines, and brakes ... so VERY much appreciated this video because it makes me understand more of what you are doing. Those swoops to land are awesome and must be scary to learn at first! Great channel, always honest and fun to watch ...

A,B,C are group of lines connecting the wing to the risers. The risers are the straps connecting the lines to the carabiners.
The A lines are connected to the front of the wing. The B lines are connected to middle of the wing, the c lines are connected to the middle back. And the brake lines at the trailing edge.
Trimming is adjusting the lenght of the risers, so the back of the risers are longer or shorter than the front. It changes the angle of attack, the angle between the wing and the airflow, changing the speed of the wing, and other flight behavior.

    Hi Tucker
I learned to fly paramotors about the same time as you, with Alex Ledger at Sky School in Spain, but due to work commitments, the weather here in uk and my partner didnt like me doing it, so i gave it up.
But started to watch your videos and it got me thinking what i was missing.
So i started to make time, My partner has gone, dont worry she dont blame you ..lol..
I think i have seen most of your videos and think there are fantastic. a good refresher for me after not doing it for a while.
On a couple of you videos you had landed down wind as you wasnt sure which way the wind was blowing.
A little tip.... if i am flying cross country and there is no indications of which way the wind is blowing when i am landing , i carry a small squash ball with a streamer attached, make a pass and drop the streamer to my landing site , indicating which way the wind is blowing , then i make my approach.
    Keep up the good work

Next thing: You may only start from airports (yet you may land anywhere you like strangely) and like half of the country is no-fly area, especially around Cities and/or inhabited area in general. Tucker, I've got 10K plus skydives. Your videos are making me want more air time. I do tandem and AFF instruction which pays well. For fun, I jump a PD Velocity 96 cross braced canopy. Dude, you got me thinking... Skydivers spend so much time preparing for each jump that last 3 or 4 minutes. Freefalling is really cool. I have over 90 hours of freefall time. The landings are the cherry on the sundae when you come swooping in! I'd like to get into soaring but that might be a bit too expensive I'm a working class guy, married with kids. Hang gliding would be cool too but a bit more involved to master. I know since I had taken a few lessons a while back. I also soloed an ultralight. My weekends have been dedicated to skydiving since I was 16 years old. I have seen the paragliders and never got very excited watching them. The noise always seemed a bit much. I will keep watching and look into instruction. Maybe this might be something for me in the near future. Blue ones!

This "Basic Training" was another awesome video of yours.
So, this coming summer, a friend and I are planning on taking a paramotor flight course. It is a week long, 8 hours each day and includes flights using their equipment. Part of the reason I think it's good to see these "basic training" videos, is it will help during the course because I will know what to ask when it comes time.
I've always had a drive to fly, but it is very expensive to do so. Your videos made me totally want to pick this sport. I love that even watching other people's videos, they will mention you and always with total respect.

A little bit older of his videos but a very informative video -- I know there are several terms that I had some confusion on and this helped although still not clear on tip steering. Anyway this all looks very fun and interesting and thinking of getting into this in 2022 or worst case 2023. I don't see many paramotors over my area in central PA but I do remember one time somebody in a paramotor trike passed right over my house at 50 ft or so and it surprised me but it looks like such a fun thing as I watched them crank up the motor and head off west. I do see people flying occasionally when heading up and down the interstate for work. I never thought too much about getting into it due to cost and time constraints but I've pumped up my income recently so that isn't a problem and I'm sure I can work the time angle until I am semi-retired in 2 or 3 years.

On a skydiving parachute, if you turn using the rear risers (sounds like your inner break line is effectively doing the same job) we'd call that a "flat turn", vice a "toggle turn", which is just effecting the rear tip of the wing. It's good for making a turn without losing altitude. It's also less aggressive.

I appreciate your effort, but I was lost almost immediately. You talked about tips and something else and A,B, and C, which I think must be different parts of your wing. It would have helped if I could have asked questions, and before we even started flying, it would have been good to study a diagram with all the different parts relevant to controlling the paramotor. I think you kind of take the vocabulary and how the parts work for granted. The 4 or so interruptions for ads also didn't help. Reading through the comments, it's obvious some people got a lot more from this than I did, and that's good. Perhaps if I studied up some and then re-watched the video, I'd get more out of it, too. So again, thanks for the effort.

so.... loving what you do and seeing how easy you make it look, very methodical and controlled, i decided i needed to see the other side of the coin and watched PPG crashes. WOW, i think it was a refreshing dose of reality of what can happen. Its great to see and hear how you assess conditions and very practised approach you follow. I think its important though that would-be PPGs should watch the fails as much as the successes, if, like me, its on the list of things to do in life. What i learned from it is, good trusted tuition, education and gear and not to rush be anything

Hey Tucker. Thanks for the tutorial. I am older guy that's probably going through a mid life crisis, lol.... only kidding. I have been binging on your videos and I am extremely interested in paramotoring. Since I started watching I've been wondering what "trimming out" meant, now I finally know. This was a great overview of the basics. I finally subscribed after all the binging and hope to get involved in the sport. I appreciate the fact that you are very genuine and seem to be very mature for your age. You are a great ambassador for the sport. I live in the southwest and can probably fly all year round, we do have schools out here that I am going to check out.
