Finally a "real person" to share their views and experiences in a way that I can understand. I am thinking about trying this sport/hobby. I would like to foot launch however bad knees dictate a trike. Actually they have been replaced, I just don't want to do it again. I like the little bit of security the trike seems to offer. I will most often be flying by myself so again if something happens I feel the trike will give me a bit of an edge in minimizing injury.
Unquestionably, a trike will look after you in ways that a foot launch unit wont. I am currently teaching a trike student with a history of knee problems. He wanted to foot launch, but now having flown trike, he is confident that he made the right choice.
Really good video, as a guy with about 20 flights now, still trying to overcome the fears, this is very real to me. When talking about perspective, that’s exactly right, just want smooth. I’ll never be Tucker, but I’m okay with that.
I just recently had my 8th skydiving jump. Unfortunately my head/ears can't handle the constant altitude changes. My ears were plugged for 3 days and I had a bad headache. I even had a bloody nose on that last jump. I got into skydiving because I loved the canopy part. I really should look into flying this way. I know I'd love it!
The guy on the trike that you were talking about who was out of control was actually an elderly guy (about 70 y/o) who actually passed out as he took off. You can see that he was full throttle with no brake input at all. Very lucky to have lived through that...
Just thought I would add here, I have had a couple of wonky take offs on my Xenit the past couple of flights (they can be seen on my last two videos too). I did have a line replaced so I am hoping it doesn't have anything to do with that and it is just my own input errors. They have been crosswind take offs, so I refer back to this video to remind myself of the balance between hands and feet on launch so just wanted to say thanks again for sharing!
to answer your question after my first comment.. I want to fly high for safety, but as I grow more comfortable, I want to also fly down low and interact with the terrain and maybe wildlife. ater proper training and knowing my equipment I would love to slalom hay bales in the field and get more aggressive. I have learned that acrobatics and true aggressive flying is way past my comfort zone balancing celebrating life with risk. I have always been an adrenaline junkie, but not more grounded at my age. I just want room to grow from flying high, and buzzing the ground as my skill allows. thanks again for your video.
On my first flight my instructor made the comment to deal with the oscillation because; "you don't want to do a wingover on your first flight." I enjoy the bumps, twists and turns. I trust the equipment and being 68 I figure if anything really happens, then oh well, I've enjoyed the trip so far...
Hey man, just came across your channel today. It is awesome. I can’t wait to share it but I have just a couple of questions. If you have a video about buying a paraplane used and how to check it out that includes unpacking the foil check it out lines and the frame, the Paraplane I bought was the first generation with the two 210 solo dual prop small fold aluminum frame trike. I’ve owned it for three years still in the crate never unpacked it it’s used of course but I just need to know what I should do when checking it out just in the yard to do a safety check on it and of course I’ve never flown I have a basic pilots license from the 80s but I’m sure it doesn’t cross over to this. Also, I’ve kept kept the packed foil in a room downstairs with low humidity the whole time. Also, just let me say you’re the most non-condescending channel that I’ve seen yet you tell it real and you don’t talk down to people that’s pretty cool thanks.
Have you ever been in a situation where your wing has become fouled or even collapsed? Barring power lines or structures, what do you think the outcome might be? Do you just glide back down to terra firma or spiral to the ground? I live in a most beautiful part of New Mexico (ask any baloonist) and see many paragliders flying off the Sandia mountains. I just think a motored trike would bring it to that next level.
I've been looking at Part 103 aircraft & somehow I saw "Trikes"..... I saw some w/ the parachute as you have & others w/ a Hang Glider Wing which I liked more. So is a Trike w/ a hang glider wing a part 103 aircraft if it has 1 seat? I like the wheels under my body & I like the fixed wing more than the parachute. Trying to learn - kinda confusing but thanks for the video
Excellent video as always. Carson, from Happy Thoughts, let me taxi around on his trike at a fly-in last year. That was my first attempt at a trike. May have to make the switch from foot launching one day. Thanks for the video. Love your rig.
Awesome words of wisdom...what size wing is that? I have a 28m w/p2f Calibri trike. Still training building ground handling skills.Wind has been horrible all spring and unfortunately training down at beach. Got to try a unpowered taxi w/16m and failed miserably...lower hang points and time off from training showed that I need to keep working on GH. Thanks for the inspiration on the video. It all makes sense.
I am not sure how I missed this video when it came out! Anyway great video as usual and spot on. You are a much more experienced pilot than myslef but we have the same trike and I am so thankful that in my training at One Up Adventures the very first thing they taught me on a tandem ride was oscillation control. I have had a wonky take off on a light crosswind where some bad oscillations started as soon as I lifted off and without that training I likely would have paniced for sure. To answer your question about where do you fly altitude wise, I am still kind of a high flyer, I like to stay at least 1,500 ft AGL after I leave the airport setting (they like us PPG pilots to be 500' or below when anywhere within the pattern range for safety). I got a little lower flying over a corn maze but only down to about 300' or so. I think having an engine out when I only had 6 hrs jaded me and I like to have options for landing! I only have about 38 flights right now so I think with experience I will like the lower flying a little more than I do, or it might be because I was a fixed wing private pilot years ago and don't remember being under 3,000' very often. Great video as always Anthony, take care friend!
I'm 73 now, but back in the 80s there was no licensing required yet for ultralights. So a friend had a private runway and we taught ourselves to fly a weight shift ultralight by pulling it dead stick with a rope tied to a van and then pull the knot out and glide back down. After doing that for a while successfully we use the motor. I could've continued the hobby but that didn't happen. But I do have to say, flying low and slow. I like to see the details on the ground and the ultralight I flew only went about 35 miles an hour. I did scare myself one time trying to climb up to about 2500 feet and the airplane started porpoising and I didn't know what was doing it. I guess basically it was running out of power installing and then power on install back-and-forth I stopped pushing it so hard to climb.
Are there any aerodynamic accessories like fairings or plexi glass windows to help with aerodynamic stability as well as keeping cold air out of your face the higher up you go?
I lost my medical as a fixed wing pilot and would like the paramotor trike as an alternative can you advise ano model for a beginner and the cost of learning how and the prices
Great video for someone like me that's looking to get into the sport. Is there a difference between a parachute and a fixed wing trike? I see some sporting either but can't find any info on what the difference is or if they're interchangeable on a trike
Question, if I love motorcycles (cruisers ATM) will I enjoy this sport? It might sound first world but I'm afraid it might be boring given the slow speed. Perhaps I'm over thinking it, because either way I plan to try it, but it's a decent amount of time/$$$ invested.
I think your A assists are too tight, they have tension when your flying if you hit rough air and the trike moves around it will pull on the A's , not good
Question for you, since you are flying a tandem trike in this video. I'm wondering if starting with a rig like that is good to start with? I ultimately want to have a tandem rig but don't know if you can start there or not?
Would ever be willing to talk one on one about PPG trike flight? I am interested in trying it, but am not a young man and have some physical issues. Liked, subscribed, and hit the bell.
thank you so much for your video. liked and subscribed. I have been on a journey for over 3 years now to celibate life after beating cancer. I can not begin to describe my passion for flying and my past experiences, other than to say ppg is, and will fulfill my dream and celebration. I have become parallelized in indecision, on what gear and what training I need. My celebration has now been in limbo. I have recently realized that foot launch is not realistic t0 fulfill my dream. I am now new to researching trike or quad flying and hope you can help me live my life. Thank you. Please help. I am turning 54 next month, and now 3 years clear of beating cancer, yet I am still not flying to celibate.
I’m thinking of getting a paramotor trike. Should I get training for it or could I just start by going slow and learn how it controls first. I don’t think there is any training near me, i don’t want to travel for it.
You should at least study the ppg bible, get a wing n start kiting and watch n pause n understand every paramotor vid you can find. You need to be very thorough and confident you aren't missing anything. Good luck!
I started flying in early 80s with ultralights.Got hundreds of hours in various types. Has a spin in a flexwing trike, survived and went to PPC. Ppc is actually the safest . Had a ppg but didn't use it hardly at all. With my ppc I normally fly a square chute, but I wanted to go faster so got an apco elliptical wing. Upon takeoff it started rocking back and forth Scared the crap out of me Just kept climbing and when I got high and let off the throttle it stopped. Glided back down. Never flew again with that wing.
Man I about to buy one 4000 bucks and never been up..but got the fever.... Motocross scuba diving deer hunting bear hunting hog hunting I'm ready to move on

I like the way you describe your 1st flights I think hundreds of people feel the same way you just put a lot of people at ease especially me
I just recently had my 8th skydiving jump. Unfortunately my head/ears can't handle the constant altitude changes. My ears were plugged for 3 days and I had a bad headache. Oh man! That’s absolutely incredible. That’s still one of the scariest videos I’ve seen.
The European Designed Fresh Breeze 4-Stroke Fuel Injected Trike with the 250 CC engine is a Great Unit...
You explained it very well, thanks for sharing!
Very Good Explanation and I agree that a Trike with Wide Axles gives much more Stability...

I started training this summer with a flash cruiser with a 303 Polini. Love it. I'd love to come down from Calgary and fly that country.
Glad I watched it. What u said at the end has been happening to me a lot. It was a trike then I made it into a quad and I'm still flipping over 😂

Seems like your “A” assist are to tight in flight? More slack is needed while flying I would think is a little safer.
Totally agree! Thank you for pointing it out.
What a great video! This guy is an A+ instructor.

Thank you. I haven't got off the ground yet. But good to know everything u said. I hope I get off the ground soon.

I've flown with a guy in a trike and I liked flying Lower.I would like to learn how to fly these one day.
Nice landing!
Cool video, thanks for all the info and taking the time to upload. Can you tell me how much you have invested in the trike and wing setup?
Do you have a paramotor school here in Texas? I found your videos while researching this sport.
Are there any aerodynamic accessories like fairings or plexi glass windows to help with aerodynamic stability as well as keeping cold air out of your face the higher up you go?

How do you know how much flight time do you get with a full tank of gas and how can you tell how much fuel you have left?
Personally I think I would prefer flying a trike over any plane out there. Feeling the turns and the wind on your face must be incredible.
Question, if I love motorcycles (cruisers ATM) will I enjoy this sport? It might sound first world but I'm afraid it might be boring given the slow speed. Perhaps I'm over thinking it, because either way I plan to try it, but it's a decent amount of time/$$$ invested.
As much as I used to love chasing rabbits in /the fields , nothing better than being 3000 -4000 feet up cruising over the bay .
Your plane and voice seem familiar. Thanks for the vid! Low is my flavor of choice, wind permitting....
Very nice, thanks for sharing.. Greeting succes from Indonesia paramotor👍👍👍
I think your A assists are too tight, they have tension when your flying if you hit rough air and the trike moves around it will pull on the A's , not good

Ghastly bluish light hue from that Sun Simulator😮
Good video bro, subscribed
Great job bro..
What size wing are you flying solo?
Can’t wait to fly my Xenit trike
Lindo equipamento meu abençoado comandante grande abraço Adriano do Brasil 🙏✌️🤗

You bet. Email me flyeptx@gmail.com or on Instagram @anthonykvella 😁🤙🏻
How many years can you use your parachute for before you have to purchase a new one,I heard there’s an expire date with these things
I flew a zenith the first time I went up and I went yo150 up o 1500' .
I like to fly low and take in the sights
I am interested in learning how to fly a paramotor
How much price this paramotor tendem
In the oscillation video you’re talking about the pilot had a heart attack and had the throttle up all the way.
Whats the difference between this powered paratrike vs a paraplane?
ระบบไฟมีปัญหาไหมครับ
I love high uo-the higher the better, and Im now watching you and so utterly jealous -God bless

Hey ol chucko! What size wing do you use for tandems
That’s a BGD Cyclone he’s flying. So it’s either a 38m or 42m.
I would like flying high and low
I would say being high and low is cool. But low is more adrenalin producing.
I started flying in early 80s with ultralights.Got hundreds of hours in various types.

Ppc is actually the safest .
Had a ppg but didn't use it hardly at all.

Glided back down.
Never flew again with that wing.
PPC vs PPG... what is the difference? So you don't fly anymore? Cheers.
bro your A assist looks like it is adjusted a little tight during flight... kiss kiss
I saw that immediately, they should be loose during flight
Calling the FFA for sure.
Always remember that extreme sports come with extreme risks...
J'ai mis un pouce vers le bas car il ne faut jamais que le moteur tourne sans être installé dans la sellette
El Chucoooooooo!!!!!
We call it “active piloting”…
Man I about to buy one 4000 bucks and never been up..but got the fever.... Motocross scuba diving deer hunting bear hunting hog hunting I'm ready to move on
Low and slow is the sh*ts for me
Your A assists are too tight Mr. Instructor. They should not be tight in flight.
Everyone says they have the (safest) one why don't you all get together in a field and show us why
CHUCOOOOO
If an 11 yr old girl can fiy one I can.
down low for me
