Those are some very nice looking drivers. Obviously very high quality design, materials and manufacture.
Great to see Sony dedicating some attention and R&D to premium car audio again instead of just the mass-produced XPlod range.
edit: Just looked up the pricing and the new ES range is still very reasonably priced. I can see them aiming for the JL Audio market but they’re much cheaper than JL if comparable materials and construction is taken into account
the old xplod ES stuff in this video is some of my all time favorite audio equipment . thats why i didnt hesitate and pre ordered the new stuff lol
I'm rocking the new Sony Mobile ES by 9s and the 6.5 component speakers powered by the Sony XM GS4 amplifier in my Toyota Camry, and the sound quality is super clean and crisp. I definitely made the right choice for my speakers and 4ch amp.
some of the nicest looking components have seen for a long time. go Japan! and your content is always great and diverse.
Love the video
We need a demo!
I’d like to put ES components in my 01 Cabrio, but Crutchfield seems to not see them as capable of fitting. My guess is magnet is too big. Too bad, I have a Sony guy. I had older Sony XPlode stuff stuff I didn’t care for. The head units always failed, too.
Not saying Crutchfield’s data for vehicle data is wrong for yours, but it’s a little too conservative. It said only 5.25 inch speakers will fit in my doors when it’ll take 6.5 inch speakers. When I took out my door panels, it’s because there’s this tiny thin plastic trim ring on the inside that I just cut out with a box knife. It was only there for the factory speakers. I can fit much bigger speakers in there now.
@@damon323 there is a membrane, I think it’s for wet.
I have 2017 highlander xle. I got sony es only 2 speakers not the subwoofer.. do you think i will need amplifier? Some say i dont some say i do. Each speakers have 2 pairs.
you dont "need" a amp , however they will do better with a amp , you dont need a ton of power , just make sure its clean power
@@mazda2284 THANK YOU
@@yajiinaachi Get a Sony XM GS4 amplifier. It's a cheap but, very high-quality amplifier.
Are you an electronic tech. Judging by the test equipment in the background kind of gives it away. Myself I've been doing amp repair since the late 90s. I don't do it for profit any more just my own stuff and friends. Love your video keep them coming.
I'm not a schooled tech or anything like that , I didnt even graduate school actually tho I wish I was wiser when I was younger and stayed in school but I didn't have a solid direction, I always loved bass so I applied myself and learn as much as possible which mostly hands on works best for me , study something and try it . I still am learning amp repair in my spare time , wish I had someone to learn from because I feel id pick up on amp repair pretty fast .
@@mazda2284 definitely, I can tell by your other vids that you will pick up very quickly. Myself I dropped out in 10th grade. I thought I knew it all and nobody could tell me anything, boy was I wrong. Reality chewed me up and spit me out. I never had any formal training I have a few electronic guide books that I consider Bible's. I had to learn out of necessity as I couldn't afford to have stuff fixed. I just realized I'm not subscribed I'm going to take care of that now.
You wouldn’t be keen to sell the used old school 5 channel Sony Xplod amp that you have spare of would ya? I’m struggling to find one in Australia :(
bring back memories those Sony Mobile ES sink heat subwoofers....crashed my vehicle and they were taken 😢
I have the 6.5 component set in my Ridgeline. They are very clear and detailed. They are running on a ACM-2.300
Those Sony's look super clean, I bet they sound good. I remember wanting some the xplod stuff, but I was bouncing around in life so much at that time. Really cool, looking forward to hearing that sub.
Im sure you have listened to them by now, how do they stack up against cdt , focal or morrel?
By the way what is ur profeaaion 🤔
audio , electronics , batteries . marketing , testing , design ect . pretty much anything car audio lol
I did not know they still made Sony elevated standard stuff cool!!
I would love to visit your spot, you have so much cool shit man.
Really Awesome.. 👌👌👍👍
