They sound amazing. I have installed the entire set in my car last week. I have RSX GS9 along with these speakers. I have downloaded few 32bit-192khz files and the sound is just amazing.
Installed the mobile ES speakers with stinger roadkill fast rings and XM GS4 amp and it sounds better than Bose and Harmon Kardon Factory systems in luxury vehicles. I totally got my money’s worth.
Sony is so weird. They make good value car audio, but then they make a $2000 cell phone. I wish they would have released a 3-way out the gate. Makes me really excited for future radios.
The black/gold would fit my 2015 mitsubishi mirage "daily gas sipper" nicely because I already have a black/gold theme going.... if I heal from my spinal cord injury im definitely gonna buy these speakers/sub for my mirage. Just absolutely sick new speakers
Just discovered your channel. I enjoyed your video, I subscribed because of that and the fact that I really want to hear your thoughts on thios ES series. Please make that video. Looking forward to it.
@@Studioincar thanks! Need to record some new stuff! I installed the 6.5s in my car front and they are pretty decent running off my car head unit. Lots more space in the mix.
@Clint L Well, ribbon tweeters of that era had their own set of issues and limitations, especially in a car audio environment. And speaker design + materials science has advanced a lot since then, so that even relatively inexpensive mid-tier speakers can offer great sound. Still, having said that, Sony's previous Mobile ES line was more of a cost-no-object line of "statement" equipment. The market has changed quite a bit and Sony is targeting a wider consumer base. And IMO, Sony's former non-Mobile ES XS-GS1621C 3-way 6.5" component set was & is one of the best available without venturing into the $1,000+ price bracket, so I do have high hopes for this new Mobile ES line.
@Studio Incar Looks like Mobile ES Watered Down. :( The OG Sony Mobile ES products were true TOTL and not priced nearly as "consumer friendly" as these. Still, if they perform as well or better than competitors at a comparable prices they will probably do well. Polycarbonate baskets aren't the greatest for thermal heat dissipation to reduce power compression. I also don't see any copper or aluminum "shorting rings" in the motor system to reduce Le (inductance) and lower overall distortion. This is a relatively inexpensive addition during manufacturing that shouldn't increase costs considerably but will definitely improve performance. And I'm kind of baffled these weren't released with a 3-way option as well. Even Sony's current TOTL non-ES XS-GS1631C component set is offered in a 3-way and is actually more expensive than these...and are very good performers for the money. Time will tell. The new Mobile ES head unit was just announced today as well. Looks "OK" but they missed the mark in several key areas IMO. Let us know once you get these installed and have a listen!
The entire line has shorting rings. BLAME Covid for not having the entire "FULL" line of ES products. From the mouth of SONY is that ES will be a "FULL LINE"..... Read into that all you need to. I got the chance to hear two vehicles loaded with ES / Sony gear and I was pleasantly surprised by not only the clarity, but the loudness from the new ES speakers and subs! Trust me.... You'll love them!!!
@@cartuneautomotivesoundinc.3917 Thanks for the response. Yes, I saw in a Canadian Interview with Kris from Sony where he mentioned the ES Line speakers all had aluminum shorting rings. I didn't see it mentioned in any of their product information at the time, but I'm glad to know that they are included. It's a relatively simple and inexpensive addition that really makes a difference if implemented properly. It's fairly easy to get good clarity, tonality, and decent output from any halfway decent speaker if you have some basic EQ. I'm more interested in how the cars you listened to performed in terms of imaging, soundstage, instrument realism, bass detail + impact, and up-front bass??? What I'm most hopeful for and waiting on is a true High-End successor to Sony's XDP-4000X DSP that has more than 8 channels! 10-12 channels would be ideal considering OEM integration 10-channels is the minimum for me: 6 = 3-way front stage. 2 = Differential or std stereo "Rear Fill". 1 or 2 = Subwoofer(s) depending on below... 1 = Center Channel (not for me, but for those interested in keeping it when combined with a DSP that has true center channel upmixing). Ideally the DSP would have Digital Toslink and/or Coaxial inputs (like all previous models), PC and Mac tuning software with wireless BT (no USB cable required), Wireless Bluetooth combined with iOS and Android tuning apps, and WiFi for direct Hi-Res streaming. Phase adjustment in increments of 15° on every channel as well as All Pass Filters available in a "Pro Mode".
Where is part 2?
Install fell through so we didn't get it done. We will in the future but it's on hold currently.
@@Studioincar dude the speakers came out like a year ago
Until you make a video on them they will probably be outdated
i have the sony es mobile speakers and the sony es mobile 4 channel amp in my jeep and they sound amazing!!!! well worth the money!!!
Any chance on a full review now?

The new XAV-9500ES head unit was announced today. I've got mixed feelings about it, too.

If I pre order what do you estimate the ship waiting time will be?
Lots of detail looking forward to the sound and the outcome👍👍👍👌👌👌
Are these better then the hertz range of 6.5 speakers
Any updated video on your thoughts on the sound of these please?

The old XES range with the ribbon tweeters were amazing.
Sadly I don’t think these will be in same ball park.

The new XES will probably have tweeter assemblies each with 1 main tweeter and 2 assist tweeter just like the Sony SA Z1 and the SS NA5ES.
