Great vid Kev and info. My GT had it's first MOT this year and I had the same advisory. The bike has only done just over 4k so not that happy in having to replace them so early on.
Yes, i was dubious when I got the advisory first time, they seemed ok to me. A mechanic mate of mine said, " if you get an advisory one year, take it to another tester the next year, see if the same advisory comes up", sometimes dealers are fishing for work and your ££££.
Great video, I’ve just set myself up with my 1290r , so I can remove my wheels at home and take the wheels for new tyres . Might be worth stressing though , the importance of not getting acf50 on your new discs while handling them 🥴👍🏼😁
Thanks.. Defo, keep grubby hands well away from the discs and pads 👍🏼 I nearly added a comment re "washing my hands", but ive had about enough washing them over the last 2 years. 😆
Thanks, very useful as all your other GT videos are. Did you notice any improvement with the new discs? Mine also has 28k, never had any problems but just a slight judder under braking. Apart from the bottom end fuelling it’s a brilliant do-everything bike.
Thanks Simon. The new discs n pads do feel smoother, but if the bike hadn't failed the mot test i wouldnt have thought to change them just yet, braking was excellent and i didnt notice a problem. It was an advisory when tested last year. Yes an excellent, strong and exciting machine. 🙂
Thanks Richard. Yes, I would say very reliable in my experience. I get an occasional C-Light failure warning on start up but it immediately disappears, weird. Other than that, new fork seals after one leaked at 22,000 ish miles, but that was due to me traveling with full luggage and getting too excited with the throttle and then braking hard in the mountain I think. It's a very strong machine, I'm loving it. I should add ive just replaced the chain and drive sprockets too, but regret not videoing it.

Another great vid Kev , thanks, over your 27000 miles has yours been reliable?
