I just watched this PPV in honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving and was wondering why the Warlord never made it to WCW after WWF like The Barbarian did. He was huge, had a good look and a decent worker.
haha I'm with Conrad regarding my enjoyment of all things WWF during this Era.....I was 10 when this came out & I loved it. The Deadman's debut just made it even more awesome and not even the Gobbly Gooker could wreck this PPV
I was 14 when I watched this PPV and thought Taker looked really impoing and unbeatable, but the Gooker was a massive dissapoint and I hated the whole PPV.
According to BIll Eadie he had a near fatal allergic reaction to shellfish due to iodine build up in his system and he needed to slow down because he needed to heal and recover from it so crush was brought in to lighten his workload.
Buddy Rose used the Blow Away Diet gimmick in the 80's in the AWA for Verne. He used the gimmick around 85-86 before winning the AWA tag titles with "Pretty Boy" Doug Sommers and managed by Sherri Martel. After they won the titles, they feuded and eventually lost the tag belts to The Midnight Rockers, Marty Jannety and Shawn Michaels.

I really enjoyed it as a kid. To a smarter audience these days the goodies and the baddies coincidentally being teamed up at the end might not wash so I’d combine the finale with another one-shot gimmick - The Wildcard Match. Draw the teams for the final randomly and force some more friends to fight and enemies to team.
@@stevepmg9202was about to say that. The goodies and baddies in the same teams were lame, where in 1995 with the wildcard, it was cool. Every match should be a wild card. Bruce has a thing for the name Kane. He originally gave Undertaker the name. Then years later, Glenn Jacobs character was named Kane. That was Prichard's brainchild. To top it all off, Bruce has a son that he named Kane.

I thought this was the best thing I'd ever seen when first watching it about 6month later (helped by Rick Martel going over). Watching it back 12years later. That's why kids can't vote.
The Undertaker had two WWF matches under this belt prior to Survivor Series 1990, contrary to what Bruce said here. One on Superstars, one on Challenge, both were televised.
Just watched the build up and this ppv. The reason Demolition wore the masks on the graphics was from a previous show promo. It was on Prime Time, they did it so nobody could tell who they were (like they had done with the Machines). It would allow Demolition to switch out, and nobody would know (fans of course would). Then they didn't wear them at the ppv lol
I was born in 1980 and started watching wwf around 84-85 and loved everything and all the wrestlers, up until they killed off hogan with the undertaker. Just went downhill from then and I didn’t like it, hated DX and HBK, up until the stonecold era

Bruce’s version and Marks version of where The Undertaker came from conflict. Mark says Vince had the character in his head for ages and was waiting for the right guy, Bruce says they crafted the character once he’d signed.
I agree with Bruce on the Championships. Maybe sell the custom ones online on WWE Shop. I don’t agree with his thoughts on the sole survivor concept. I believe this was the best SS in part for that reason. It brought back a bigger stakes feeling and formed final teams you would have otherwise wouldn’t have expected. As a kid, just seeing Tito Santana rub shoulders with Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior was incredible. Every year new guys could be elevated from this concept and different size odds can be formed for a baby face to try to overcome each year.
So basically this night was created just to get over Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan over. Not surprised there. Both guys were so over with the fans that it was awesome to see. Crazy to hear that Mark Calloway learned as he go as Undertaker. He was so good that you couldnt tell.

If you watch the early tombstones that the undertaker used to do a lot of them looked rough. He used to do them differently and the one on Koko looked bad. When he used to do the under the shoulder hookor trapped one of their arms he didn't squeeze his knees in tightly to stabilize the head as often as he does now.as time progressed you could tell that his knees were tight to keep the head in line and they were super safe. Regarding Dusty and his different darker outfit ... Maybe I'm wrong, but my childhood memory was that he changed to a more sombre costume because of Sapphire betraying him and taking the Million Dollar Man's cash ... Surprised neither of the guys mentioned that.
Jake was more ove than Warlord but the warlord went on to have good match with the Bulldog when he rejoined the WWF, I think the warlord wa a better in ring worker than warrior, kind of a poor man`s Steve Austen, he should have had a title match v Warrior.
So Koko legitly would have kicked Marks arse?! Is that what Bruce was saying when he said he pulled Mark away from Koko behind the curtain after the match?! 1:47:30
I don't think so, Bruce seemed to be implying that he'd lose either way. It's his first day, he hurts a guy, the he kicks his ass when confronted by him about it? Or gets his ass kicked? On his first day? So you could see why Bruce wanted to get away and thought it was a no win situation.
@@mikeanthony718 I'm in a similar situation. First PPV i saw on tv when i was kid was wrestlemania 9. because it was my first i always liked that mania and it has a place in my heart - in reality the show sucked big time and so did survivor series 94
Just watched that Gobbly Gooker segment on here and the fans were into it as Okerlund was building it up. Then that stupid thing popped out and they booed the shit out of it. Then they went to the ring and Gene Okerlund saved the whole damn thing.
The fans were not into it. I just watched it, 90% were just standing there, there were a few kids or women dancing to the song. Gene was trying his best to make it work, that didn't even save it. Piper's laughing the whole time was priceless
You can't tell us why Perfect never had a big program with Hogan? Really? I mean...... really? Because Hogan was only wrestling ridiculous cartoon characters at the time. It was the same reason he wouldn't put Dibiasi or Bret Hart over. He thought they were "too small" to beat him, even though they'd work circles around Hogan. Such a long list of guys he held back.
Mr. Perfect was scheduled to to win the 1990 royal rumble but fucking Hogan used his power stroke at the last minute to go over, even though there was nothing to gain from winning that rumble.
Conrad has to be one of the dumbest people ever saying not to run on holidays, because of people needing a day off. Then Bruce answered no it's cause they didn't think it'd draw. My mother and my dad divorced when I was 6 months old. I always had 2 Christmases and 2 Thanksgivings. Since my mom's family all moved to Knoxville which is 2 hour drive from my dad's house, we always had the holiday with my mom's family a week early or a week later. This isn't the 50s when parents didn't get divorced.
Let’s pretend that Savage wasn’t injured, there was no giant egg, and that Rude, Simba, Akeem, and Bad News stuck around. We could have maybe had a quick 6th match with Tito/Bulldog/Buddy Rose/Barry Horowitz vs. Bad News/Haku/Zhukov/Brawler.
I've been listening to some of these older shows lately. One thing I've noticed and reeeeeally appreciate is Conrad almost NEVER mentions the name Meltzer. I don't give 2 shts or a flyin fck what Meltzer thinks of every damn match. Bruce's impressions aren't as over the top tho which I do miss.
I agree with Conrad on the last match why if the ultimatewarrior was the champion not hogAn would had hogN still the spotlight hulk hogAn eliminated Paul ROMa and Ted dibiase model Rick Martel eliminated himself by count out in at the last warrior eliminated Hercules if warrior was the champion he should eliminated at least two and Bruce prichard was fool of it about well Vince wanted to put together both superstars and bring them together instead of having the fans pick maybe Vince was afraid if the fans would pick thewarrior would had been pick instead of hogAn if Vince wanted to bring them together the two top superstars he should had either had warrior since not only was a top superstar along with hogAn while hogAn eliminated Paul ROMa and Ted dibiase and warrior eliminated Hercules he could either had ha dwarrior also either eliminated rickartel instead of having Rick Martel live the ring getting count it out or since the two baby faces was hulk hogAn and ultimatewarrior who was the world champion had warrior eliminated the warlord along with Hercules instead of Tito Santana who got eliminated buy Ted dibiase had warrior eliminated warlord instead of Tito santana

Regarding Dusty and his different darker outfit ... Maybe I'm wrong, but my childhood memory was that he changed to a more sombre costume because of Sapphire betraying him and taking the Million Dollar Man's cash ...
Surprised neither of the guys mentioned that.
I figured the Red Rooster was in the egg 🥚
Gobbledegook!!!🐓
I can't believe Brother Brucie doesn't remember the Hulkster War Bonnet.
I think the idea of Warlord being eliminated so easily in the final match was to sell the DDT that Jake gave him if I remember correctly.
57:11 Scitexing story about "photoshopping" Hogan's bald spot.
Tim Viper no wonder Vince sought out Tom Magee
I would love to hear about survior series 94, one day..
Mike Anthony you liked series 94 ? It was OK I don't think it was the best in my opinion
I liked it a lot, because it was the first wwe event that I went to,the other was royal rumble 97
Mike Anthony thats cool. I went to a lot of house shows and also WrestleMania 9
Presley 17 kool!
@@mikeanthony718 I'm in a similar situation. First PPV i saw on tv when i was kid was wrestlemania 9. because it was my first i always liked that mania and it has a place in my heart - in reality the show sucked big time and so did survivor series 94
They should've waited til survivor series 99 and had jericho pop out of an egg...
That would be egg-celent
Break the Eggshells Down!!!
The Warlord looks like a jacked up Stone Cold Steve Austin in this picture
Just watched that Gobbly Gooker segment on here and the fans were into it as Okerlund was building it up. Then that stupid thing popped out and they booed the shit out of it. Then they went to the ring and Gene Okerlund saved the whole damn thing.
Chad Pugh Are you a moron? Mean Gene dancing around with it didn't come close to saving the segment!
BIlly Ray why the name calling? Gene at least made it entertaining. Of course that's my opinion and you don't have to agree.
Chad Pugh I got 2 words for ya' HECTOR GUERRERO
Gobbledy*
Piper made that ppv so great !
Boris Zhukov ( James Kirk Harrell ) is not from the Carolina's but Roanoke VA.
The "CAROLINA" territory (wrestling term)....
I have to think Blow Away was some sort of cocaine rib. I mean, it had to be, surely.
I was expecting a lot more in the blow away diet thing. I had something totally different in mind that would have been pretty funny. lol
What Number podcast was the Houston one eventually then?
Bruce sounds medicated again here, LOW (No) energy.
13:44 it finally gets started
I love how Conrad always gets so offended by fat jokes. Classic!
Okay????
Something is up with Bruce on this one
Where the hell is Survivor Series 1991?
Bruce wasn’t there
Did DC ever sue for Legion of Doom rights?
If bad news didn't leave the WWF would the undertaker have a big send off?
Hogans fist helmet was called the war bonnet
If I remember they had it on holy foley when mick and his daughter where tour a wwe building.
Did you have a stroke typing that?
Why did the wrestlers always wear sunglasses in doors?
Same reason girls do at Raves
Really did piss me off skipping Undertaker's match til later haha
1:29:57 The Undertaker debut.
Thanks
Warlord looks like a buffed up stone cold js
Yes, in a different world they would have been a great tag team with Austen carrying the Warlord.
Damn I thought Demolition fought Legion of Doom at mania 7
🙏 🙏 I need to hear Stu Hart pitch "diddling the Undertaker's mamma to Vince 🤣😆🤣😆
Bruce sounds so pissed-off and fed up on this one
Yup, noticed that right away.
He was sick.
I wish you guys would say rumors and innuendo more. It's not that annoying yet. Or google machine, twitter machine, etc. etc. etc.
freestyle here..
Chat me up here ..
These "watch alongs" are unwatchable on here. The ads mess it up. Just saying.
I'm just saying WCCW kicked WWE's ass in the early 80's THEY were on in SOO many states! THEN filled All the texas stadiums on special nights. Like the one for David MAN that was huge! THEN going across seas before most anyone else! THEN getting on TV over there! with a company ran by 6 people.
I don't know if you can say someone "fucked it up" Mostly it was all their top guys passing away. From the Boys Gino and so on and so forth.
Pontiac silverdome, Toronto, Milwaukee, wwf was hosting 3 city's everynight I watched those Texas wrestling shows they did OK but come on Wwf controled wrestling world in the 80s
WCWho? Lols
@@savagetilley2782What is a WCW? Some company that only took made stars from the WWF as their main draw? Pathetic and their goldberg couldn't save them either.
I think mick even put the suit on.
