To be honest the premise that I made up myself watching 10 seconds of the trailer sounds like a better premise than the actual premise of the movie.
Exactly! A bio-movie that's inspired by real life but, of course, exaggerated for comedic purposes. Adding that to the list of movies I wish to make and/or fix
Is nobody going to talk about how Smosh The Movie is essentially a really bad version of Back to the Future? It has the same plot about going back to the past, trying to fix a mistake in time before the main protagonists disappear, how after the change they become rich and the villain becomes poor...
It comes off as less of a parody and more of a """""parody""""". The difference is one is a spoof of a particular subject, while the other is a blatant ripoff that abuses the fair use defense to avoid legal action.
If you want to see "Not Cool" but with the relationship developed earnestly, "Holidaysburg" is the exact same script but done COMPLETELY differently and better. It's hardly perfect, but it's light years better than "Not Cool."
F The Prom gets an F, Smosh: The Movie -Smoshed- smashed my respect, Not Cool is self explanatory, Airplane Mode is a plane crash, and Fred:The Movie.........I see you have a point there.
High school movies are as close to actual high school as the Lord of the Rings is to the actual medieval period. High school is incredibly boring and mostly consisting of memorization/regurgitation and trying to ignore the other students.
Considering the pattern where every single instance of Fred having something good happen to him is almost immediately revealed to just be a fantasy he's having, the random adoration he suddenly gets from everyone at the end, and the sudden cut to the end credits, I still say the last 5 minutes was all in his head. Fred 2 opening with Fred saying that he's actually the one who ended his relationship only makes me think that's the case even more, whether that was the intention or not... I have a 4K copy of 2001 I've yet to watch, yet here I am giving my interpretation to the ending of Fred: The Movie. What have I become?
So to put it this way: A: LS Mark movie B: Fred the movie C: Airplane mode D: F the prom E: Smosh the movie F: Not cool Edit: I'm referencing LS Mark's rankings
At mark: as someone who goes to American schools all my life, short answer no. In reality only the "quirky" and "popular" clicks are the ones who are in deep drama, partys, drinks, etc. Outside of that group no one cares about any social groups, we just hang out with the people we want.
Maybe it’s only me, since I’m 20, but my school didn’t even have any “popular” cliques or anything. Everyone just had their friend groups and shared hobbies, which had very little effect on how they treated each other. It wasn’t perfect, since kids were still bullying each other and stuff, but it wasn’t because of popularity or something, but just because those kids were jerks.
Yeah. Most people just ignored anyone they weren’t already friends with. Imagine an attempt at social distancing in a cramped cafeteria. Most of the time people didn’t form crowds larger than 5-6 kids unless the school demanded that they be crammed into a small space. Our school allowed kids to leave campus for lunch and as such most social groups bailed out of the school the moment the lunch bell rang. The densest unplanned crowd at my school that I saw was when one of the kids revealed he could do card tricks really well. Everyone wanted a part of the card trick action. Some kids also once set up a tv and some gaming consoles outside and spent lunch playing video games. My classmates did pull some wild pranks on some of the teachers and there were rumors of an attempted stabbing but that’s the most action and gossip we had until the safe 2 tell scandal. The safe 2 tell scandal was when a group of kids abused the anonymous reporting system to call in false bomb threats and to falsely accuse groups of students they didn’t like of being criminals. The administration got so fed up with the false alarms that none of the anonymous reports were taken seriously. TLDR a group of students ruined a support system for troubled teens. The trouble makers were arrested and the school social system returned to people ignoring each other.
Im canadian and while cliques in movies and media are def exaggerated I was a socially reject outside a couple friends. Didnt fit into any groups and was bullied throughout most of school. So while exaggerated they at least as of 10 years ago were prominent enough I related when in school
lets be honest we all needed that knowledge. you didnt need to be in the popular crowd to find a place. I... actually have some particular feelings about this, but I'll leave it at.. whoever needs this, school or work, old or young, being popular shouldnt come with the tax of drama and/or your wellbeing. you can find people who are a lot like you with some work, people who can relate to you without draining you
"Americans, is high school really like this?" It's been a while since I graduated from high school but if I had to compare it to any movie portrayal, it was a lot of the banality and awkwardness of Napoleon Dynamite with the dialog of Superbad.
The parties in high school I had with my friends mostly consisted of us playing Smash Bros. Then putting on a Nic Cage movie and making jokes throughout the entire runtime.
@@radladstudios I think I got really lucky in that most of the parties I went to were all hosted by our school's anime club, so they'd be a bunch of anime nerds playing video games and marathoning anime on different TVs in the same house, though since they were school sponsored there wasn't any beer or sex, but again, we were anime nerds and anime was just approaching its peak of mainstream western popularity. Those parties were like the coolest part of high school for me. Outlaw Star and DDR.
Bo burnham is something else honestly. He went into three different fields of entertainment that all function completely differently and require completely new skills and techniques to be learned. He did really well in all of them. His comedy bits are great. His songs are hilarious but also sincere with good messages. Eight grade though i haven't seen it have heard nothing but great things.
The thing about Smosh the movie and most of the stuff until Defy shut down was that they were not given the ability to have creative input in that kinda stuff. The movie ended up so bad and they had next to no involvement because they just...Kinda weren't really allowed to have involvement contractually speaking. It's why Rhett & Link buying the company, and then very recently Ian & Anthony rebuying it has lead to a bit of a creative renewal for them because they ACTUALLY are allowed to have creative freedom again.
Yeah that's why if you look back at anything smosh from like 2014 until he ended up leaving Anthony seemed to be less invested and enthusiastic in anything they were doing.

Bo Burnham Wrote and directed Eighth grade Which won a couple awards and now he's getting nominated for like 6 Emmys for his special Inside. I'm not sure if you could consider him a UA-cam, but he did get big off it so that probably counts for something.
There's this claymation UA-camr I've been watching since I was in Middle School. His name is Lee Hardcastle and he's worked with Adult Swim and even the Gorillaz in making claymations.
Mark: I already made a video about the Fred movie so I won't talk about it too long. Also mark: *talks about the Fred movie longer than the other movies*
I'd reccomend trying the AVGN Movie if you're a fan of the character at all. It's probably the best UA-camr movie. It's a dumb B movie, but that's exactly what James Rolf loves
I all honesty, as someone who tries to make movies myself, James is a huge inspiration. It's amazing what he and the rest of the Cinemassacre crew try to do with their budgets, even if it doesn't always work. I highly respect a lot of what they did with that movie, especially the practical effects. A good movie for those who are into low-budget filmmaking.
So far, the best one is AVGN: The Movie. It's silly and weird, but you can tell that they were trying to make it a goofy B-movie for the fans. You didn't cover it, but it's much better than a lot of these.
Plus James has genuine knowledge and Passion about Cinema I didnt like it but you i can see that he really cared while making it ( unlike the assholes on the list)
The main girl in F the Prom also played the main character in Disney Channel’s Starstruck. She’s really good at playing super unlikeable main character apparently 😂 I saw a few of newer Smosh videos, and immediately realized Studio C is way better 😅
Surprised you didnt bring up Bo Burnham. Eighth Grade was great, and so are his various specials. I feel like most people sincerely forget that he started off as a UA-camr.
Not Cool actually had a notable anime voice actress named Cherami Leigh in it (the emo girl). She’s the voice actress for SAO Asuna, Fairy Tail Lucy, and Patty from Soul Eater. Now I can see why she stuck with anime voice acting.
@Fran 189 yeah, Iove AVGN but just because you love and appreciate something doesn't mean you'll be good at making it. His movie was kinda shit, but I'm biased since I've been a fan for a long time.
That_ Deadeyegamer79 his movie is kinda for the fans not really what most people would like (Tbh I would have preferred Mike being one of the main role in the movie) but it’s for the fans and it’s enjoyable when you think about it like that Like a UA-cam movie
I love how when your character moves like that short snippet at the start where the mouth is just flapping round, the model just really pops off as expressive and could easily pass for an actual cartoon character
Olan Rogers is an example of a UA-camr who got a career. He’s acted in two small movies and he even got his own TV show made. Final Space has 2 seasons and a 3rd one on the way. He’s also uploaded plenty of tv pilots to his channel.
Mark, aside from the AVGN movie, you forgot arguably the best and most watchable UA-camr-made film, which is Ashens & The Quest For The Gamechild. ...That hurts, man. It truly does. 😖
"are these movies at all accurate to how highschool is over there" NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. i was homeschooled and had 0 friends but its not like that. i swear.
Yeah would have been nice to see an example of a comparatively good youtuber movie on the list and see what they did right that everyone else got wrong.
@@knucklesSilver7 No, I meant Cherami Leigh plays the chracter he describes as "emo girl" in the movie, not the sister character. I know she voices Rhea.
Bo Burnham is an og UA-camr that moved onto stand up and filmmaking, you have probably seen his movie 8th grade, which has a %99 on rotten tomatoes, he did both the writing and directing
0:17 oddly enough, Arin and Danny (Game Grumps) actually starred in a live-action UA-cam Red series called Good Game, created by Dan Harmon of all people. They're wonderful on camera, and their chemistry as best friends, both in the show and in real life, really brings their performances to an oddly charming depiction. I mean, not to mention Danny has been filming NSP skits for years, and Arin's actually starred in multiple shows as a voice actor, including an episode of Rick and Morty!
I think radio silence could count as UA-camrs who went on to be in the film industry, they started off making short horror films, then they managed to make ready or not and scream 5 and 6
I think you understated Shane's involvement in "Not Cool". If you've seen "The Chair", you'd know how controlling he was. Every offensive joke is purposeful, this is his brain child.
RicePirate started on NG but moved to UA-cam eventually, and although he still is on UA-cam occasionally, he is a successful voice actor. Also John Cena throwing Fred through a table is the funniest goddamn thing in the world.
"Now I won't be talking too much about Fred the Movie since I've already made a separate video on it" *proceeds to spend the most time out of the video talking about Fred the Movie*
The dude who made Fred actually had a video or two about the making of the movie and how between making a script and filming took literally 12 weeks, wish I remember the video or I'd link it but he has another UA-cam channel so it shouldn't be too hard to track down
In Germany we have You Tube movies too "Kartoffelsalat" and "Kartoffelsalat 3- The Musical" and "Bruder vor Luder". "Kartoffelsalat" was 2015 the worst movie at all time.

According to Ian in the newest Smosh video, the Smosh Movie is a torture device, so I wouldn’t say he’s proud of it
I'd reccomend trying the AVGN Movie if you're a fan of the character at all. It's probably the best UA-camr movie. It's a dumb B movie, but that's exactly what James Rolf loves
AVGN movie is still so horrible.
For me it's like a movie that's so bad it's good. Like the Mario movie.
@@camerondodge2070 totally agree 👏
People actually got invited to high school parties damn
@@Omnipotent8383 LOOOL
Omnipotent 8383 oof
So far, the best one is AVGN: The Movie. It's silly and weird, but you can tell that they were trying to make it a goofy B-movie for the fans.
You didn't cover it, but it's much better than a lot of these.
Agreed
Plus James has genuine knowledge and Passion about Cinema
I didnt like it but you i can see that he really cared while making it ( unlike the assholes on the list)
The only decent thing Doug Walker was involved in
it's really dumb but it's not a movie that relies on that, if that makes sense. Genuinely enjoyed it.
I can't be bothered to watch it. I like AVGN somewhat, but I'm not sitting through and entire damn movie of that character.
The main girl in F the Prom also played the main character in Disney Channel’s Starstruck. She’s really good at playing super unlikeable main character apparently 😂
I saw a few of newer Smosh videos, and immediately realized Studio C is way better 😅
I mean the creators of “Don’t hug me I’m scared” now have a upcoming show on channel 4 which is awesome!
My thoughts.
Fred (Trilogy): 5/10
F the prom: 4/10
Smosh Movie: 4/10
Shane Dawson: 3/10
Airplane mode: *ERROR DOES NOT COMPUTE*
The AVGN movie
Fred the movie is better
Error does not compute is exactly how I feel about the Airplane Mode movie.
Take 2 points from every score
@@bucketbutters866 2/10
While not a movie Olan Roger's managed to turn his pilot final space into a full fledged series.
Not only that his second animation pilot "The Lion's Blaze" got picked up to be a full fledged series too.
@@ryushin6 oh shit I didn’t hear about this?
The 2010s had so many UA-cam movies.
There are no movies after the 2010s
Thank god that’s over
Surprised you didnt bring up Bo Burnham. Eighth Grade was great, and so are his various specials. I feel like most people sincerely forget that he started off as a UA-camr.
4:08 “friendless loser who doesn’t know he is a friendless loser” did you mean: ls mark
“Fred: The Movie” was a repressed memory that I tried to forget
Not Cool actually had a notable anime voice actress named Cherami Leigh in it (the emo girl). She’s the voice actress for SAO Asuna, Fairy Tail Lucy, and Patty from Soul Eater.
Now I can see why she stuck with anime voice acting.
Not to mention Makoto in Persona 5, V in Cyberpunk, and A2 in NieR:Automata. She's a great actress, but that movie did not do her justice.
Wait a second WHERE’S THE AVGN MOVIE
I know! It was stupid, but it was the kinda film that was MADE for the fans, and embraced how cheesy and goofy it was.
It has to be generally considered "bad" to be on this list.
Random Cringey UA-camr yeah but Fred was in this list and that’s a good movie
@Fran 189 yeah, Iove AVGN but just because you love and appreciate something doesn't mean you'll be good at making it. His movie was kinda shit, but I'm biased since I've been a fan for a long time.
That_ Deadeyegamer79 his movie is kinda for the fans not really what most people would like
(Tbh I would have preferred Mike being one of the main role in the movie) but it’s for the fans and it’s enjoyable when you think about it like that
Like a UA-cam movie
I love how when your character moves like that short snippet at the start where the mouth is just flapping round, the model just really pops off as expressive and could easily pass for an actual cartoon character
Olan Rogers is an example of a UA-camr who got a career. He’s acted in two small movies and he even got his own TV show made. Final Space has 2 seasons and a 3rd one on the way. He’s also uploaded plenty of tv pilots to his channel.
Ashen and the Quest for the Gamechild is the best one ngl
Also avgn movie exists, all I really have to say about it
The Polibius Heist is pretty good too! Would be cool if it was free but I get it, movies are expensive and adsense is dead.
0/10 You didn’t include Shark Tale featuring Will Smith and Jablinski Games
I see you're a man of culture as well
But sadly Shark Tale came out in 2004, and UA-cam launched in 2005
Well, under that logic, does Kung Fu Panda count as a UA-camr film, as Jablinski Games was voicing the protagonist?
@@heehee2007 r/woooosh
Don’t forget about the Marvel hater named Martin Scorsese, he was also in that movie
Mark, aside from the AVGN movie, you forgot arguably the best and most watchable UA-camr-made film, which is Ashens & The Quest For The Gamechild.
...That hurts, man. It truly does. 😖
Also "To boldly flee."
@@randomcringeyyoutuber6750 *WE DO NOT DISCUSS THAT HERE.*

Haven’t watched the video but I’m guessing you missed Ashens and the quest for the gamechild 😔
It's painful to see he's missing out on one of Ashens' biggest masterpieces, man. 😢
Yeah would have been nice to see an example of a comparatively good youtuber movie on the list and see what they did right that everyone else got wrong.
A sequel to quest for the gamechild is going to come soon
shhhh
LS Mark make a sequel
Man, I remember being HYPED for the Smosh movie when I was younger
i know some people wouldn't class them as movies, but nigahiga's agents of secret stuff and the last skitzo are really good.
I remember Ashens and the Quest for the Gamechild being at least decent, albeit made by a more obscure youtuber
The Ashens movies have that Shaun of the Dead-esque charm
Somebody: tells joke
Ls Mark: this....... does catch me off guard
Fun fact: Cherami Leigh, who voices Rhea from FE: 3 Houses, also played Shane's sister in Not Cool.
i hate that three houses is now technically associated with this godawful movie. fuck
No, she's the emo girl. But still, she shouldn't be in this movie.
Actually, she does voice Rhea. Not sure if by "emo girl" you mean Shamir, but that's Allegra Clark.
@@knucklesSilver7 No, I meant Cherami Leigh plays the chracter he describes as "emo girl" in the movie, not the sister character. I know she voices Rhea.
@@Awesomeasumpta13 Ah, I see what you mean.
He just reviewed it today and didn't like it lol

Damn... that was deep man... we really do live in a society 😔
I can’t wait for the LS mark movie, he already has his own show! They should at least make a TV movie.
Boarderline Forever is clearly a cinematic masterpiece
I think radio silence could count as UA-camrs who went on to be in the film industry, they started off making short horror films, then they managed to make ready or not and scream 5 and 6
I think you understated Shane's involvement in "Not Cool". If you've seen "The Chair", you'd know how controlling he was. Every offensive joke is purposeful, this is his brain child.
"I won't speak much on Fred the Movie" Is the biggest part in the video
RicePirate started on NG but moved to UA-cam eventually, and although he still is on UA-cam occasionally, he is a successful voice actor. Also John Cena throwing Fred through a table is the funniest goddamn thing in the world.
Where is the cool cat film, which would obviously be number 1 on the list
"Now I won't be talking too much about Fred the Movie since I've already made a separate video on it"
*proceeds to spend the most time out of the video talking about Fred the Movie*
Ashens and the Quest for the Gamechild is my favorite. My sister loved it as well, and she'd never even heard of him before.
The dude who made Fred actually had a video or two about the making of the movie and how between making a script and filming took literally 12 weeks, wish I remember the video or I'd link it but he has another UA-cam channel so it shouldn't be too hard to track down
Donald Glover started making comedy skits on youtube then became a big musician and actor.
I'm disappointed you didn't mention that FRED the movie lacked a single fart/burp joke
“Are you a large corporation that can threaten us with legal action?”
“No?”
It’s funny because that’s exactly what Smosh is now!
In Germany we have You Tube movies too "Kartoffelsalat" and "Kartoffelsalat 3- The Musical" and "Bruder vor Luder".
