Alfred and Poe's "Heisen-bird" joke is the best joke ever made, it made me bawl on the floor crying and laughing. I showed my dad this joke and he had started erratically flipping and flopping on the floor, and despite the amazing humor of Alfred and Poe the animation of Alfred and Poe is just as, if not better than said animation. I find the animation and humor better than most tv shows today and as well as the other "Shut Up!" cartoons. But if you're a simpleton and do not get the joke Alfred is referencing the AMC show Breaking Bad, El Camino, and Better Call Saul, as they all include the character known as Heisenberg. The show revolves around a over-qualified high school chemistry teacher named Walter White who is played by Brian Cranston, during the first episode he gets cancer, and to afford treatment he must go into the meth business with his former student Jesse Pinkman played by Aaron Paul. In Conclusion, Alfred and Poe's "Heisen-bird" joke is hysterical joke that uses a reference to the hit AMC show Breaking Bad but FUCK SUPER SMOSH, Super Smosh plays a cliche topic and plays it to its most cliche resolution, most of the jokes are just "reference!" and if you don't get the reference the joke is terrible and even if you get said reference it's not a good joke. My guess is that Defy has tons of plans for Oishi in partnership with the still then-new Very Important Productions, but it never got through. Like I said, Oishi's rights are pretty much all over the place in modern times, and was delved to obscurity.
I unironically found Pubertina VERY relatable (Show aired when I was 12 and had just started puberty) and I adored the animation And Oishi High School Battle.... man I still remember that opening theme. I both wanted to be her and wanted to be WITH her
I feel as if it got a bad rep because it didn't appeal to the hyper-sexualized male audience. I wish there were more woman-centered animation shows. Tuca & Bertie is a really good one that comes to mind
I watched Ouishi Highschool Battle a lot back when I was hardcore into anime. I remember one episode being hilarious and that's when Ouishi got detention for bringing her dog noodle to school and the world ended and then time kept reversing until she could make sure the world didn't end it was pretty funny in my opinion.🤣
I watched it when i was definitely too young for it considering i was probably like 8 or 9, one episode gave me nightmares for weeks, not a fun time lol
@@kingj9664 i totally agree lol 💀 but man at that point I'd seen way worse from seemingly innocent child friendly things since i was a my little pony fan just before that when i was even younger, and you know how that went. Even if my parents supervised me the internet still would've found a way 😂
My roommate & I watched Oishi High School Battle back when we moved in together for a second time, we lived in a three bedroom apartment 2013-2014 but we barely spent time with each other. When the third person left, we downgraded to a two bedroom apartment & hung out far more, she introduced me to Oishi High School Battle & we binge watched the whole series together. I can still recall that late summer of 2014 when she cosplayed as Oishi to a con we went to together, nobody knew who she was & that's when we first learned about Five Nights at Freddy's & jumped off of bonding over Oishi to FNAF. Still, I won't forget that small point in time when the two of us watched it together, it's such a shame it has been removed because it's been enough years since I've seen it to forget a lot of what's happened, would be nice going back & watching it again & remember spending time with that friend given we don't talk anymore but I do miss her.
Dude, I can't even begin to tell you how obsessed I was with Teleporting Fat Guy, Oishi, Alfred and Poe, and smosh babies when I was a kid. I'm kind of glad I forgot a lot of that stuff though. It's nice to know my taste has refined somewhat with age.
Should’ve known I was bi when I loved ouishi high school battle and thought she was ‘pretty’ when I was like 10/11 Still her outfit is everything would kill for an irl version of her platform boots
And now Ian & Anthony have bought back Smosh \0/ Though this definitely won't be coming back. I think it's pretty common knowledge nowadays that Shut Up Cartoons was a product of the company that owned Smosh and not the duo themselves, more-so something they were contractually obligated to pursue The sad truth is that everything here accredited to Smosh or to Ian & Anthony just wasn't a choice they made, Smosh's behind the scenes decisions were largely in the control of the Parent Company because of how things played out. It really is sad what Defy Media did to the duo and it's even worse how they just left a bunch of people unemployed afterwards after scamming so many. It's great that the company as a whole was saved by Rhett and Link and even better that now after over a decade the duo themselves own the company and have full creative control again.
Ian and Anthony have mentioned that during their time with Defy they were constantly being forced to take on more and more projects, like the movie, games, and this. So yeah, they didn't really care. Defy just wanted to have their fingers in every pie.
I feel like the “With Zombies” show could’ve been done well if the premise was that Zombies had built society back up but then the whole main family was psychotic killers trying to “stop the zombies”
Oishi High School Battle was the one show I remember watching the most out of all of them. I still think the show is rather decent despite how overly played out the whole "LOL, them Japanese cartoons be so random and weird" satire is.
I didn't watch most of these but God, going through all these remind me just how charming early UA-cam animation was. Everyone was just a bunch of amateurs yet Smosh paid them to produce content. There were no high expectations and everyone just made what they thought was funny or cool. I love how far we've come, but it's nice to go back and see how it all started and see how many of them kicked off people's careers. Great video.
I loved Oishi High School Battle and I had completely forgotten about it until now. It's cool to see how many actually interesting and experimental things they did, they clearly wanted this channel to be used as a way to platform cool artists making silly things and I think even though a lot of the shows weren't that successful, they succeeded in lifting up some artists that may not have been platformed otherwise
Oishi highschool battle will forever hold a special place in my heart. I loved it as a kid and still think it has some good aspects. It's also creative.
Hey Ls Mark, probably not gonna get a reply on this but what do you think makes a good movie? I'm actually trying to make one myself and I want it to be better than my show, I know it was trash
It seems like so long ago when i last watched Smosh, respect to them as they were the first channel (to my knowledge) to be so experimental, before UA-cam was as business oriented as they are today. I only remember Oishi High School and Smosh Babies but not alot of people remember SU cartoons.
Did you know? Both Krogzilla was nominated for the same award Dos and Donts was nominated for. And God Squad was also nominated for a short film award from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts! (Also, the reason as to why the pacing of both With Zombies and An OK Place To Eat was so segmented is because they were first made as full pilots that were segmented into 5/10 parts when airing on Shut Up Cartoons)
I remember when this channel came out, I was a huge smosh fan when I was little. Seeing the announcement got me excited. I used to watch every cartoon that came out. I personally didn't like smosh babies. Looking back on the shows as an adult...yeah there's a lot of stuff that really isnt much to write home about, some of these weren't that bad, just not as amazing as I remembered when i was little. Nowadays I actually like krogzilla, do's n don'ts, planets, and im mixed here and there with zombies vs ninjas. I did personally enjoy Life's a zoo. The most lazy thing I noticed from the channel was that An Okay Place to Eat was just a pilot someone made and the channel got the rights and seperated the pilot into 10 episodes. You can still find the pilot alone on youtube. I was a huuuuge Oishi fan back then when it came out. I used to draw so much fan art and one of my fan comics got attention from the creators o.o Daniel Dominguez was the guy who contacted me and told me they loved my fan comic so much that they wanted to add 2 of my cartoon characters in the background in rhe origins trilogy. When the 3rd origins episode came out I saw my characters on the far right with Oishi's Classmates. Boi was that a trip in my past. Thanks for making this vid Mark ^^
I think an initiative to produce and platform independent UA-cam animations wasn't really a bad idea at all, but there were definitely some huge mistakes made. The big one for me is branding it around Smosh and pandering to only that demographic, which clearly pigeonholed them and made it really hard to try anything new and experimental. The upload schedule was also very demanding and I'm sure set back quality control a long ways, and they obviously didn't know what their long term plans for syndication were. I would have loved to see something like this succeed, perhaps like a more low budget, indie version of what Cartoon Hangover was trying to do back in the day
Not sure if smosh the channel had plans but rather this was most likely pushed by Defy Media. Defy was always trying to get Smosh to start large projects
One of the biggest mysteries of my whole childhood was the status of an unreleased Shut Up Cartoon called Comical Spill. There was like, 5 seconds of footage of it in the Shut Up Cartoons announcement trailer, and like, nothing else seems to exist of it online.
This is the first time I've ever heard of Shut Up Cartoons and honestly I'm glad I watched this video :) Because it led me to God Squad which happens to be right up my alley. An interesting art style, large cast of characters, really good voice actors, a bit of crude humor but not to the point of taking away from the story, a mystery, little bit of violence, and to tie it all together, poking fun at religious figures. It reminded me a lot of Clone High, and I think it's a good series if you're in the target demographic. Also I loved the video and will be checking out more of your content :) I hope whoever's reading this has a good day.
I met Zach before in a parking lot of a Grocery Store, he actually went up to my window to talk to me. He told me he noticed that I was talking on the phone and was wondering if I was talking about him, I kindly told him no but that I loved his animations and his little lets plays, he seemed very flattered even chuckled a few times, he wanted it to be clear that he's not naturally like how he is when he's doing comedy. I told him that I was aware and that I loved his style of humor. He would occasionally ask me about what I was saying on the phone and if it related to him and how I perceive his style of humor, I confirmed that it was nothing about him and he just insisted that I don't have to lie about anything and that he wouldn't get offended. I kept assuring him that my phone call had nothing to do with talking about him and he would just nod his head and say, "Okay, ah okay, I see". Whenever we're just about to talk about something else he would bring up my phone call again saying things like, "Listen man, I trust that you weren't talking bad about me on your cellphone, but I swear -- this could just be me, but... I could swear you were looking at me while you were on the phone and I saw you chuckle.. but you know... it could just be me thinking things, I sorta have OCD and it's really hard to control, so could I just check out the recent calls and maybe any texts?" I'm personally a private guy when it comes to my phone, I didn't want to say no to Zach, I'd try to change the subject and he'd even get more antsy, saying things like, "Okay man... look, I get that you don't want anyone on your phone, I get it, but it makes me feel like you're trying to hide something from me, I mean man... look, I promise not to look at your pictures or anything, I'm just... come on, dude... I'll draw you a hellbender if you let me just look." I was getting a bit uncomfortable, and Zach was starting to get red and sweated bullets, he'd keep tapping on my windshield with his palm when he would say, "I swear" "look" and other things, I just relented and handed him the phone. He was having trouble turning it on while saying, "How the... uhh... how the fuck do you get this thing on, just real quick man..." Thankfully the phone was dead and he honestly handed it back to me and said, "I know by looking in your eyes that you are no liar, for 20 years I was lost and I honestly think that Jesus lifted my life around and brought me to a good man like you, you're an honest guy, I respect that." I just smiled and nodded. As he's wiping his nose and sniffling, a man and woman walk by and he quickly turns around and ask them, "Hey who are you? What are you doing??!" The guy replied with "what?" and Zach was asking them if they know me, I told him I didn't know them, he just glanced at me and went right back to staring them down, practically ignoring me. The couple gave him a weird look and shook their head and said "Uh..no". Zach just laughed and said, "Ahh okay, just checking, you never know with what's happening in this world today, ha ha! Hey do you both think my friend here is a trusting soul? I tell you he's got Jesus in his heart man!" The couple were weirded out and walked off. All of a sudden Zach just got enraged at the two walking away and screamed, "WELL YOU DON'T GOTTA BE A FUCKING DICK" "DON'T TEST ME MOTHERFUCKER, I'M NOT IN THE MOOD." I swear to god I was getting terrified and at that moment Zach started to adjust his pants and I saw a gun sticking out of his waistband, I thought I was going to die, honestly. What was the most scariest moment is that he noticed me looking at his gun, he turned around and gave me a cheeky smile and said, "Don't worry about it my man, I have it on me for self defense, I want.. nah I dare some motherfucker start shit with me." This was all in 10 minutes but felt like hours. He then went on a tirade about the movie fast and furious or some shit, I was too busy preparing for the moment this psychotic fuck planting a bullet in my brain, so I went along with anything he said, at the end he asked me, "Hey man, by the way I'm not doing so good financially could you give me some money so I could probably walk to a Circle K to get a fountain drink?" I took out my wallet and offered 5 dollars and asked him if that was good enough. He seemed genuinely pleased and said, "Oh hell yeah man! That's perfect! I knew Jesus brought me here for a reason, you gave something to me now I give something back to you." That's when Zach started reading off passages from the bible and made comparisons with the passages he read and some scenes from the fast and furious. When we said our goodbyes I sobbed for a good hour thanking the lord that this maniac didn't harm me, I love his cartoons but meeting the man in person was terrifying, I look back on this encounter as a learning experience and I became a stronger person for it.
What a harrowing experience. Had your phone not died, Zach would have surely found your gossiping texts about him and it would be all over. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
I always thought Smosh babies was a show that never existed but people would meme it constantly to make some people believe that it was real. (I've only heard of Smosh babies from OneyPlays, but I thought that was a bit that they were doing)
I think I completely repressed any memory of shut up cartoons And that memory was brought back because someone pointed out that one of the Jermas from his “who will replace me” stream was in a shut up cartoon
I could be wrong but I think defy owned smosh at this point and they made pretty much all the decisions like this one so I can probably blame them if you weren’t a fan of shut up cartoons
All I remember was Oishi highschool battle. The only episode I remember was Oishi was pregnant by her space goop boyfriend or something and she just plopped out twins that immediietley started terrorising the school (students and staff) and she just left her goop BF to parent the kids from that point on I think And at the end she got with one of her regular human classmates because that's a predictable trope.
Every clip you showed hit me with phycological damage as I realised I had watched basically everything they uploaded on this channel then completely forgot about all of it.
4:20 I want to point out that back in those early 2010-12 days, 1million views was considered A LOT and "gone very viral" back in those days. Even half that was impressive too. These was the days where Shane Dawson, =3 (RayWilliamJohnson), and Pewdiepie were really ruling this platform along with Smosh. All those people were pulling only a million-something views at the time and still being #1 most watched youtubers on the platform (Does UA-cam even still list their top creators anymore on here?). RayWilliamJohnson used to really rule this platform until Pewdiepie came around and took over that position,.
If you wanna see something like nature breaks but waaay more fun to watch i recommend creature comforts! instead of being prewritten and read off a script all the conversations between the animals were recorded from real people being casually and anonymously interviewed, and the stop-motion seemed to have so much care put into it
I loved Life's a Zoo a lot, one of the only Shut Up Cartoons I revisited frequently. It's surreal to here someone talk about it, I personally think it's underrated
I really admire how Smosh just started thier own cartoon network. Now you mention it I remember thinking Really Freakin Embarrassing looked terrible, then watching one episode and loving it so much I watched the rest in an afternoon.
Failed channel? It had 2 million subscribers and the last video had 1.5 million views. With all the Defy issues, they probably just decided not to do it anymore. The channel was a success. Defy, not so much
I always liked Smosh. I consider it the internet age Beavis and Butthead. Using crude and juvenile humor to create a true humorous reflection of the internet I still feel is relevant today. Out of all the classic Smosh that has stayed the same, I'm just glad the original smosh games cast is together.

I unironically found Pubertina VERY relatable (Show aired when I was 12 and had just started puberty) and I adored the animation
And Oishi High School Battle.... man I still remember that opening theme. I both wanted to be her and wanted to be WITH her
same ong
Same, I counldn't stop staring at her big anime jugs
I feel as if it got a bad rep because it didn't appeal to the hyper-sexualized male audience. I wish there were more woman-centered animation shows. Tuca & Bertie is a really good one that comes to mind
@@piccolo54trunks2 Think the female audience is pretty hypersexualized too. lol wtf
I loved Pubertina in middle school! So glad other people liked it too
I won't lie I made sure I was ALWAYS up to date with smosh babies. it had such a chokehold on me. It is definitely much worse than I remember it being
Oh man. I remember never missing a single episode in the early days of Shut Up Cartoons. Especially Zombies vs Ninjas.
@@L0rdOfThePies Wow 8 years old, Your parents should have been supervising you
@@kingj9664 i totally agree lol 💀 but man at that point I'd seen way worse from seemingly innocent child friendly things since i was a my little pony fan just before that when i was even younger, and you know how that went. Even if my parents supervised me the internet still would've found a way 😂
@@L0rdOfThePies Yeah I was like that too
Oishi High School Battle is what brought me to Shut Up! Cartoons. Good times.
Pubertina was my childhood man! It helped normalize how awkward puberty is, and how that’s normal.
Aw
This shit developed my sense of humor and general personality when i was younger and i dont know if i should be grateful or angry about it
Be furious
Dude, I can't even begin to tell you how obsessed I was with Teleporting Fat Guy, Oishi, Alfred and Poe, and smosh babies when I was a kid. I'm kind of glad I forgot a lot of that stuff though. It's nice to know my taste has refined somewhat with age.
Smash babies was it
I forgot about teleporting fat guy lmao
Should’ve known I was bi when I loved ouishi high school battle and thought she was ‘pretty’ when I was like 10/11
Still her outfit is everything would kill for an irl version of her platform boots
That’s awesome

And now Ian & Anthony have bought back Smosh \0/
Though this definitely won't be coming back. I think it's pretty common knowledge nowadays that Shut Up Cartoons was a product of the company that owned Smosh and not the duo themselves, more-so something they were contractually obligated to pursue
The sad truth is that everything here accredited to Smosh or to Ian & Anthony just wasn't a choice they made, Smosh's behind the scenes decisions were largely in the control of the Parent Company because of how things played out.
So just "I Am Legend" (the novel)?
@@KaiserKlay I wouldn’t know, I’ve neither seen the movie nor read the book
Oishi High School Battle was the one show I remember watching the most out of all of them. I still think the show is rather decent despite how overly played out the whole "LOL, them Japanese cartoons be so random and weird" satire is.
Wow I wonder whyyyyyy
I didn't watch most of these but God, going through all these remind me just how charming early UA-cam animation was. Everyone was just a bunch of amateurs yet Smosh paid them to produce content. There were no high expectations and everyone just made what they thought was funny or cool. I love how far we've come, but it's nice to go back and see how it all started and see how many of them kicked off people's careers. Great video.
Ashamed to admit that Oishi made my heart race as a 10 year old
That's just called being human and also being 10 years old, we all had our fictional crushes at one point :p
Would hug
I loved Oishi High School Battle and I had completely forgotten about it until now. It's cool to see how many actually interesting and experimental things they did, they clearly wanted this channel to be used as a way to platform cool artists making silly things and I think even though a lot of the shows weren't that successful, they succeeded in lifting up some artists that may not have been platformed otherwise
Oishi highschool battle will forever hold a special place in my heart. I loved it as a kid and still think it has some good aspects. It's also creative.
I think I speak for all of us when I say Smosh Babies is the show of all time
I will always thank Planets for being one of the reasons I got into astronomy
As an astrologist, I can confirm that Planets is a 100% true documentary
Planets was honestly the best one 😂 I miss that show
SAME
Planets was my favorite!
Hey Ls Mark, probably not gonna get a reply on this but what do you think makes a good movie? I'm actually trying to make one myself and I want it to be better than my show, I know it was trash
As someone who had seen the Teleporting Fat Guy sketch way back in the day, I really enjoyed him getting his own miniseries.
Smosh babies was literally my favorite smosh cartoon
mine was planets
I remember watching Smosh Babies because I loved smosh back then. I completely forgot about Smosh Babies & all of Shut Up Cartoons until now
I also remember watching Super Smosh & I forgot the name of that show
Smosh was GOATED in it's day. The decline of everything they build is genuinely a tragedy.
It declined when they split up. Not like that’s a bad thing, as I don’t think it was messy or anything.
It seems like so long ago when i last watched Smosh, respect to them as they were the first channel (to my knowledge) to be so experimental, before UA-cam was as business oriented as they are today.
I only remember Oishi High School and Smosh Babies but not alot of people remember SU cartoons.
That “shut up” sound bite is so annoying 😂
Did you know? Both Krogzilla was nominated for the same award Dos and Donts was nominated for. And God Squad was also nominated for a short film award from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts!
(Also, the reason as to why the pacing of both With Zombies and An OK Place To Eat was so segmented is because they were first made as full pilots that were segmented into 5/10 parts when airing on Shut Up Cartoons)
Definitely gonna check out God squad I've heard of mostly all of the shows that wrong shut up cartoons except for that 1
I remember when this channel came out, I was a huge smosh fan when I was little.
I would have loved to see something like this succeed, perhaps like a more low budget, indie version of what Cartoon Hangover was trying to do back in the day
What about Mondo Media?
Not sure if smosh the channel had plans but rather this was most likely pushed by Defy Media. Defy was always trying to get Smosh to start large projects

I like how Mark is moving towards more longer videos. More Mark for free.
I honestly miss early 2010s UA-cam. I can’t imagine a channel like this existing these days.
I feel like A LOT of these shows had so much missed potential.
7:30 ME!!!! I remember Sonic Toast!!!!!
One of the biggest mysteries of my whole childhood was the status of an unreleased Shut Up Cartoon called Comical Spill. There was like, 5 seconds of footage of it in the Shut Up Cartoons announcement trailer, and like, nothing else seems to exist of it online.
you and i are the only one who remembers comical spill
it's lost media in the abyss category

The amount of memories that just flooded through because of Smosh Babies is dreadful

LS Mark, I cant tell you enough how good this video is but the "shut up" will never not be the single most annoying thing I have ever experienced

I knew I was gonna recognise Oishi, but Pubertina and Life's a Zoo really unlocked something. God I loved Pubertina
That final fantasy 7 joke sent me. It was so unfunny but the delivery fucking KILLED
I remember watching Oishi High School battle over and over again, idk why I was obsessed.💀

Busty anime girl with jiggle physics and minuscule clothing
I can think of 2 reasons
I could swear you were looking at me while you were on the phone and I saw you chuckle.. but you know... it could just be me thinking things, I sorta have OCD and it's really hard to control, so could I just check out the recent calls and maybe any texts?"
I'm personally a private guy when it comes to my phone, I didn't want to say no to Zach, I'd try to change the subject and he'd even get more antsy, saying things like, "Okay man... look, I get that you don't want anyone on your phone, I get it, but it makes me feel like you're trying to hide something from me, I mean man... look, I promise not to look at your pictures or anything, I'm just... come on, dude... I'll draw you a hellbender if you let me just look."
I was getting a bit uncomfortable, and Zach was starting to get red and sweated bullets, he'd keep tapping on my windshield with his palm when he would say, "I swear" "look" and other things, I just relented and handed him the phone. He was having trouble turning it on while saying, "How the... uhh... how the fuck do you get this thing on, just real quick man..." Thankfully the phone was dead and he honestly handed it back to me and said, "I know by looking in your eyes that you are no liar, for 20 years I was lost and I honestly think that Jesus lifted my life around and brought me to a good man like you, you're an honest guy, I respect that."
I just smiled and nodded. All of a sudden Zach just got enraged at the two walking away and screamed, "WELL YOU DON'T GOTTA BE A FUCKING DICK" "DON'T TEST ME MOTHERFUCKER, I'M NOT IN THE MOOD."
I swear to god I was getting terrified and at that moment Zach started to adjust his pants and I saw a gun sticking out of his waistband, I thought I was going to die, honestly.

I was obsessed with Smosh Babies and Oishi High School Battle when I was in middle school 😭 forgot all about it all til seeing you posted this video
I think I completely repressed any memory of shut up cartoons
And that memory was brought back because someone pointed out that one of the Jermas from his “who will replace me” stream was in a shut up cartoon
This might just be hormones, but I'd like an Oishi revival.
I could be wrong but I think defy owned smosh at this point and they made pretty much all the decisions like this one so I can probably blame them if you weren’t a fan of shut up cartoons
I'm scared to revisit this "nostalgia."
Wtf did I read.
Every clip you showed hit me with phycological damage as I realised I had watched basically everything they uploaded on this channel then completely forgot about all of it.
I really dislike how Ian and Anthony get blame for most of the decisions made by the Smosh brand, when it was mostly Defy.
I remember lowkey liking Oishi Highschool battle back in the day, can't say I remember much from it though.
Not gonna lie
I was hyped for this video
Remember when Smosh voiced characters in The Angry Birds Movies? And not just any characters, but two that are actually in the games?
I never knew they had that many cartoons Jesus. Did a better job than other animated channels
Dude I barely remember any of the videos, but I remember really loving Oishi for some reason. I never thought I'd see anyone mention it again

Wow this video unearthed a lot of hidden childhood memories in me. Wonderful to end the year being reminded of the crushing inevitability of time. I specifically remember Oishi high school battle, and how it really disturbed me as a kid.
