Megadeth has been my favorite band since 87. Seen them 22 times. Met different iterations of the band. Met Dave separately, because my friend worked at a radio station in Manhattan, and it was me, my friend, Dave, his wife and daughter. Got my booked signed, had a chat, walked them to the car, it was a very personal and surreal experience. He's one of the few "celebrities" I am in awe of, because Megadeth has been there for decades and every album defines some time period in my life. I know Dave doesn't have many years left before he stops making music, but the fact that I get to experience these songs through other people's eyes is wonderfully addictive. I especially like this channel for taking a journey and becoming a fan, rather than doing this just for clicks. I can see you really like them and appreciate the artistry of Megadeth. They have so many different flavors, each album being different from the last while still sounding like Megadeth. I even love Risk for what it is, a risk. Glad to watch your reactions and love that this kind of music is gaining a new fanbase through reaction videos. It seems to me that there is a unity happening on the internet, from people of different races and backgrounds to experience something positive together. And it happens to be centered around metal. And the communities these channels build is awesome. It really does make me forget about the world's problems for a bit and I thank you.

My dad passed away 3 weeks ago and I played this song thinking about him. When Mustaine says: "Moving on, is a simple thing, what it leaves behind is hard, you know the sleeping feel no more pain, and the living all are scarred." & "As you read, just know my friends, I'd love to stay with you all, smile when you think about me, my body's gone that's all." Megadeth is one of the greatest bands on earth, in my not so humble but correct opinion. Songs that are as deep musically as they are metaphorically and emotionally... This music strikes the heart.
The album cover means exactly what you said; it’s about how the past generation and government has left the Youth “out to dry”. The lyrics of the title track explain it better. “Who’d believe they’d spend more money shipping drugs and guns, than to educate our sons, sorry that’s what they did” “We are the damned of all the world, with sadness in our hearts; the wounded of the wars. We’ve been hung out to dry”
@@jacindavonhagel5420 ... that is the inspiration for the song, yes, but the point of view of the lyrics and the imagery in the video never really point to his mother so I interpret the meaning of the song as that of a man at the end of his time and saying goodbye.
@@timetheous Well my point was your interruption of the song & what it actually means to the man that wrote it are 2 different things. So when you say “it’s about a man & his final goodbye to everyone when he dies” you should add that what it means to you. Because the way you worded it made it sound like that’s what the song’s actually about which it’s not. God Bless 👍🏻
@@jacindavonhagel5420 My interpretation is just fine ... the inspiration for the song and what it means are two different things: ***The music video for "A Tout le Monde" was banned by MTV, who claimed it was pro-suicide.[1] However, in an interview conducted around 1994, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine stated: " It's not a suicide song. What it is, it's you, it's when people have a loved one that dies and they end on a bad note, you know, they wish that they could say something to them. So this is an opportunity for the deceased to say something before they go. And it was my impression of what I would like to say to people, if I had say, 3 seconds to do so in life before I died I'd say to the entire world, to all my friends, I love you all, and now I must go. These are the last words I'll ever speak, and they'll set me free. I don't have to say I'm sorry, I don't have to say I'm going to miss you, or I'll wait for ya. You know, I'll just say I loved you all, good, bad, indifferent, I loved you all. " ***
The album cover was about the song 'Youthanasia' which had the line, "...hanging the youth out to dry." Dave Mustaine was one of those kids who felt left out to die if he did not comply w/ adults in charge. Dave's father menaced his family for years after his parents' divorce cos there were no anti-stalking laws when he was growing up... He lived w/ his sister's husband, a cop who assaulted him as a teen for listening to a Judas Priest record... As a result, he left at age 15, dropping out of high school, and he couldn't get a legal job. The only options to earn were prostitution or drug-dealing; so he got into drug-dealing in the 70's... Dave got his first Motorhead & Iron Maiden records by dealing dope... He got his first guitars and amps that way too. I think he was 20 when he first auditioned for Metallica in late 1981.

'A tout le monde' was written about Dave's mom, Emily Mustaine, who passed away ...Her passing reportedly pushed Dave Mustaine into shooting heroin in 1994 during the recording of 'Youthanasia'. He went to rehab again as a result... Still a beautiful song... it didn't get much airplay on MTV in grunge era 1994. Mustaine re-recorded it in 2007 as 'A tout le monde (Set me free)' w/ Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil as co-vocal & featured on the music video.

I remember reading an interview about Dave saying he was contemplating about his mother passing, which I think was slow in a hospital bed for a while. He was thinking about the last thing they said to eachother, and that led to him thinking in the lines; knowing that you are going to go soon, what do you even say to people? And that's pretty much the lyrics
Am I the only one who thought it was about him dying? Edit: after looking on Wikipedia it does indeed state with a quote from Dave that the song is about someone's final words and the last thing he'd say if he had 3 seconds to do so.
One of my favorite songs, it is my ring tone. Great reaction! .. I recommend seeking out his interviews explaining the meaning of this song. Very inciteful.
I really appreciate the way you see what Megadeth is, it's not simple to talk about a band that is not too popular but very good, you know their songs and their career is something unique that we enjoy when we listen to them, BTW one of my dreams was to watch Megadeth playing live and l realized it last year, they're something else 😮
BINGO! First reaction video where I've seen someone get the lyric interpretation exactly right. Well done! Also, right on the album cover. It's about the youth being hung out to dry by the past generations.

"I wrote ['A Tout Le Monde'] for my mom when she died," he said. "It was kind of an epitaph for her. The premise of the song was that my mom was able to come back to visit me in a dream and she could say only one thing to me, then it was off. When I asked her what it was, it was, 'I love you.' Dave did stop playing certain songs for a long time due to his religious beliefs, but in recent years, he has relaxed his views on that. In 2018, he brought "The Conjuring" back into the setlist for the first time in 17 years. And that song is in the band's current setlist too. That song is awesome, so I was very happy when Dave started playing it again.

'A Tout Le Monde' is based on a dream I had, where my mother came back from heaven to say 'I love you.' It's about me talking to her again." Mustaine added: "We don't write music that has any kind of suggestion about taking one's life. It is more like, 'Hey, we have a problem, let's be part of the solution.'"
Finally! Please continue exploring this album. I love literally, this whole album. I have often used this album to introduce the timid or otherwise reluctant new listener to consider Megadeth. I have created the term 'Megadeth lite' but a more accurate way to put it might be'medium tempo Megadeth'.
About the album cover, You wash dirty laundry and hand it to dry, the same way as we grow older our souls gets dirty and our innocence fades. Maybe the point is that as we are born again, we become clean and innocent once again. Like these infants.
perfectly punctuated by Menza's laser sharp drumming. the best they ever had. from the intro to Holy Wars which sounds like a barrage to songs like this with quieter sections he just had it and completed their sound. Megadeth at their peak 🎸
This song is about what your last words to a love one when you die what do you say before you die the biggest clue is with the lyrics these are the last words i ever speak and they will set me free
Youthanasia and the Metallica black album were the earliest albums I owned. I grew up with them as a kid. I didn't know until later that fans didn't like how mainstream and soft both albums were. I still think they're two of the best albums for both bands.
This album was written after Dave had died from an overdose and was recessitated. He says that this song is about that experience and basically if he had one last thing to say to the ones he loves and this song came about.
The title track of this album needs to be your next listen because it makes the symbolism of the album art crystal clear 👌 Great reaction man keep on with Megadeth Mondays!
About hanging out babies, actually in Youthanasia song lyrics there is a line like: "We've been hung out to dry", so you probably want to check that out.
"If my heart was still alive... " - That child in the video - see him as "Little Dave" (Especially in timestamps 1:31 & 3:45 ). Some of us out there, see that child as us, ourselves, at that age... which lives on in pain, while we yet grow. And it's a sucky realization. What this song's message is about, some of us even contemplated such, at such early ages - I was five, when I'd first contemplated such things. When a person's life is encompassed by extremes, one emotes in extremes. Be good, stay safe, love each other... and try to remember, that to leave this world of one's own accord, can be seen as just *a permanent solution to temporary problems* ❤
True story is he effectively died of od, but docs managed to get his heart back pumping, and this song is how hed like to get people remember him if he died
MORE MEGADETH PLEASE !!! New World Order, Endgame, How The Story Ends, Washington Is Next, She-Wolf, Countdown To Extinction, Ashes In Your Mouth, Devil's Island...
Megadeth has so many good songs but I love some of their deeper cuts. Addicted To Chaos How The Story Ends Angry Again For a few… Also try the band ATOMSHIP- they had one killer album in 2004 and then fell apart unfortunately but they had an amazing drummer. Go with MOTHRA for the first sign to check out!
Love the metal reactions especially when you guys r together! And you hit the nail on the head at the end with the meaning of the album art lol it’s exactly the lyrics of the title track T you gotta show her the song Trust by Megadeth. All the girls love that one
To clear up, megadeth was to be in a rock festival. Dave won't share a stage with devil worshippers, but there was a supposed satanic band playing, so daved pulled his own band from it. He didn't have them kicked off. Since megadeth was the top of the ticket, the festival organizers dropped the other band in order to keep megadeth on. Thats according to Dave, and he's expressed sympathy for how that turned out. Okay! You should do victory, by megadeth! I actually have that in one of my tattoos. I think you'll like the premise. 😁🤘 Also, a toute Le monde is a farewell song. It has been widely misconstrued as a suicide song. Agree, it's beautiful. I 🖤 megadeth!!!

Maybe the point is that as we are born again, we become clean and innocent once again.
Like these infants.
Ahhhh....the original version. This makes it all better.....🤗🤗🤗😊😊😊😊😄😄😄
perfectly punctuated by Menza's laser sharp drumming. the best they ever had. from the intro to Holy Wars which sounds like a barrage to songs like this with quieter sections he just had it and completed their sound. Megadeth at their peak 🎸
His comments and analysis & research are spot-on. Like!
It's about death or the preparation before death. Like a suicide note or knowing you have cancer with days or weeks to live.
This song is about what your last words to a love one when you die what do you say before you die the biggest clue is with the lyrics these are the last words i ever speak and they will set me free
Great review of one of the most beautiful songs in this genre.
Amazing Megadeth album ....train of consequences ,I thought I knew it all, youthanasia (song) ....brilliant
The title track of this album needs to be your next listen because it makes the symbolism of the album art crystal clear 👌 Great reaction man keep on with Megadeth Mondays!
great song from a fantastic album. so much awesomeness on Youthanasia!!!
Try the version with Cristina Scabbia!
Very excellent
This so reminds me of my son who die from asthma !!! “Smile when you think about me, my body’s gone that’s all” !!!!!!
It's a very deep song about life friendship. Greetings from Ecuador
The solo on the song Victory is something else! Check that out! 😎
Dave is an effing writing master..
Addicted To Chaos
How The Story Ends
Angry Again
For a few…
Also try the band ATOMSHIP- they had one killer album in 2004 and then fell apart unfortunately but they had an amazing drummer. Go with MOTHRA for the first sign to check out!
It's a song about ,end of life. The French is for his mother who is French.
I remember when this song came out. I looked up the translated lyrics. Good song
Absolutely Love U 2!! Enjoy every Reaction and comments, opinions and passion you both possess. Keep up the Great work.
Love the metal reactions especially when you guys r together! And you hit the nail on the head at the end with the meaning of the album art lol it’s exactly the lyrics of the title track
T you gotta show her the song Trust by Megadeth. All the girls love that one
I want this played at my wake. Please smile when you think of me. My bodies gone but that's all.
Dave said he wrote this song after a dream about his mother who had died. The song is about dealing with his mothers death
I like the version he did with Christi Scabbia. Megadeth - À Tout Le Monde [Set Me Free] (Music Video) - UA-cam
Megadeth have done a version of this with Cristina scabia from lacuna coil, really nice.
Also, a toute Le monde is a farewell song. It has been widely misconstrued as a suicide song. Agree, it's beautiful.
I 🖤 megadeth!!!
this song has a version with Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil singing together.
You both need to react to
Megadeth - Promises
Tash will love it…..
Dave showed off his vocals well with this song
Please do "Nuclear Assault - Fight to be free".. from the Survive album. Actually, anything from their first 4 albums. Simply amazing band.
Keep the MEGADETH GOING!
YOU ROCK!!!!
"Count down to Extinction album"...the tune PsychoTron is my best tune Dave does.
In my humble opinion 💖
Dude your wife is a throwback….lucky man
they did a version of this song with the chick from lacuna coil. pretty good.
To know the meaning of the album cover, listen to the title song “Youthenasia’.With lyrics of course.
Read the lyrics of the title song, "Youthanasia" and the cover art will make sense.
