I can't believe how much they have inspired me since high school (identity Crisis Album) and how they have molded into something unique and tasteful. How much we can relate to some of that emotion? Thrice has always been something different to me than any other band.
Made a UA-cam channel just so I could comment on these guys! Man how I love their music! I can't say that I have listened to everything by them since I recently discovered them, but what I have heard I'm already in love with. This song has so much emotion and this version is also amazing. Such a shame people don't know who these guys are- their music deserves to be known by everyone!
Is that a deftones profile picture? Oh my someone with a Deftones profile pic talking about Seether on a live version of black honey is like a dream for me
For some reason I was really struck by how much he sounds like...him. I've listened to the original recording a few times, and as soon as he started singing here, I was like, "whoah, that's him." Usually artists sound a little different from the original. I don't know why I noticed it so much.
It's cool to see how Dustin has the timing down. Even when he's not strumming the strings, his fingers are moving in time on the chords he's playing, and his strumming arm is still moving. Go go muscle memory.
I'm glad I got to see them in their prime for me at least back in the late 90s early 2000s. Identity crisis and illusion of safety...Artist in the ambulance...my favorite Thrice. Wasnt a huge fan of Vhissou but I like the Black honey album. First real concert I ever went to...it was a thrice concert not hot water music concert despite who headlined 2002 at the Social in orlando
Holy shit, I have been listening to this song for so long and I only really listened to the lyrics now with this acoustic version! I feel so stupid now! Wow, what lyrics! Damn!
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees cause I I want honey on my table I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees cause I I want honey on my table But I never get it right No, I never get it right I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees I can't understand why they're stingin me But I'll do what I want I'll do what I please I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest Do you understand I deserve the best? Til you do what I want I'll do what I please I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need I try to stick this pin through a butterfly cause I I like all the pretty colors It just fell apart, so I flung it in the fire To burn with all the others Cause I never get it right No, I never get it right I keep swinging my hand through a swarm of bees I can't understand why they're stinging me But I'll do what I want I'll do what I please I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest Do you understand I deserve the best? Til you do what I want I'll do what I please I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need This time, I'll get it right This time, I'll get it right It's gonna be this time I'll get it right God, let it be this time I get it right So I'm cuttin' that branch off the cherry tree Singin' this will be my victory Then I See them comin' after me And they're followin me across the sea And now they're stingin my friends and my family And I Don't know why this is happening But I'll do what I want I'll do what I please I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees Cause I, I want honey on my table
I'm pretty sure it's referencing the US' foreign policy in regard to obtaining oil via war and invasion. I interpret the bees as a metaphor for terrorists attacking us because were attacking their nest for the black honey (oil).
Truly, I think of this song like just about every Tool song ever made... it can be interpreted so many different ways and have them all be very significant and moving. They find a core ideal, and branch out from it.
My interpretation is that when you do whatever you want in life to satisfy misplaced motives you will face consequences. It's a song of lamentation and a wish to not be controlled by impulses.
"I try to stick this pin through a butterfly 'cause I / I like all the pretty colors" is such an incredible lyric, it's seriously underrated.
This song is so good that I can listen to it on repeat and never gets old, much like honey.
Accurate.
Very accurate
I have to agree with you 100% on this!
Have you heard the Seether cover? Amazing!
dude has amazing tone in his voice!
I still remember thrice from '03...CRAZY
Punk to this! Truly talented group .
Still think this is one of the best lyrics ever thought and written. Man it makes you think!!
Definitely very badassery
As always, Thrice delivered. But this... this is so audibly satisfying.
I can't believe how much they have inspired me since high school (identity Crisis Album) and how they have molded into something unique and tasteful. How much we can relate to some of that emotion? Thrice has always been something different to me than any other band.
If they could replicate this sound for 60 minutes and turn it into an album it would be the greatest album of all-time.
AUownsU Check out the Album Anthology by them
Love this song. Both versions are awsome.
love this band :) stoked to see Thrice in June
Love this song this version especially... I sing it all the time... But his voice does things mine can't.

I really can't explain how beautiful this version is.
These lyrics are on a different level of songwriting.
the lyrics to this are fantastic

Something I really like about Alternative and Metal, Majority of the time they sound like how they actually are
It's cool to see how Dustin has the timing down. Even when he's not strumming the strings, his fingers are moving in time on the chords he's playing, and his strumming arm is still moving. Go go muscle memory.
Some guitarists like to do that for rhythm
1:27 you referring to hear?
Love this song! Sounds awesome on acoustic
Such an unexposed performance.. People need to share this..
"unexposed" lol ok haha
I'm glad I got to see them in their prime for me at least back in the late 90s early 2000s. Identity crisis and illusion of safety...Artist in the ambulance...my favorite Thrice. This is so f***ing good. I only found this caus I watched the Seether version how doesn't this have more views?
I am in love with this!
I can’t get enough of this song!
Idk, I just fucking live this song. I can kinda understand it on a weird level. Love the acoustic version! 🖤
I fucking love this song.
I can’t express how good both versions are... Jesus
Just a badass song and band just wow
love it..
Wow that was powerful
Holy shit, I have been listening to this song for so long and I only really listened to the lyrics now with this acoustic version! I feel so stupid now! Wow, what lyrics! Damn!
They’ll twist it and you never will. You wrote songs about it. Younger gen seems more compassionate and able to see those that struggle.
1:53 the guitarist fucks up and Dustin looks over at him like WTF :D
Teppei is a great guitarist and writes some of the most amazing parts of Thrice's songs. He's usually flawless when playing live, but hey, he's human.
Still sounded good tho
Wonderful❤
Shit gives me feelings. Solid top notch song and performance
God damn 😮
Actually the best acoustic version.
Epic
О боже, это великолепно!
... algum brasileiro curtindo ai em 2021? ... Música FODA!
Nice track !
I think I like acoustic version better!
Agreed!
Absolutely
For sure more emotion feel his voice
I would agree but hearing that drummer and his ghost notes is amazing!
Top notch
Seether does a great tribute to this
Cpt. Muff Cabbage it's the reason why I'm here watching this video

I don't like Seether version, but i'm happy they did that cover because Thrice deserve more attention.
such fucking good voice
and i thought the original was good... and im only seeing this in 2019..........
yeah...it took me 2 additional years lol :'D
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees cause I
I want honey on my table
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees cause I
I want honey on my table
But I never get it right
No, I never get it right
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees
I can't understand why they're stingin me
But I'll do what I want
I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest
Do you understand I deserve the best?
Til you do what I want
I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
I try to stick this pin through a butterfly cause I
I like all the pretty colors
It just fell apart, so I flung it in the fire
To burn with all the others
Cause I never get it right
No, I never get it right
I keep swinging my hand through a swarm of bees
I can't understand why they're stinging me
But I'll do what I want
I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
I'll rip and smash through the hornet's nest
Do you understand I deserve the best?
Til you do what I want
I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
This time, I'll get it right
This time, I'll get it right
It's gonna be this time
I'll get it right
God, let it be this time
I get it right
So I'm cuttin' that branch off the cherry tree
Singin' this will be my victory
Then I
See them comin' after me
And they're followin me across the sea
And now they're stingin my friends and my family
And I
Don't know why this is happening
But I'll do what I want
I'll do what I please
I'll do it again 'til I've got what I need
I keep swingin' my hand through a swarm of bees
Cause I, I want honey on my table
In need of hearing! Turn it up!
what chords are they using for the acoustic version? also, what tuning?
It seems like the standard Am chords...
Am and then F through the verses and the chorus and I think It goes to G when they go to the pre-chorus
G a e and f some
does anyone know the mics that are used in this ?
Has views but needs more likes
lol 1.5x speed
Haha that's good.
Sounds like Mumford and Sons
oh my god I hate you hahahahah
Hahahahahah
Legal mais a versão do Shaun ficou muito foda!! Seether💜
Mony in the bank 2016🤘
I like the capo 4 version better. Its brighter and still has that dark vibe.
Where is that version
They tuned down a whole step on this version, didn't they?
whats the meaniang of this song do any of you know
I'm pretty sure it's referencing the US' foreign policy in regard to obtaining oil via war and invasion. I interpret the bees as a metaphor for terrorists attacking us because were attacking their nest for the black honey (oil).
+Ross William wow that makes sense
That's the reference I got as well.
Love this song. Perfect metaphor for the US Government thinking they can take anything they want.
oil "Black Honey"
Chris Clark Interesting, I was thinking heroin addiction.
Bryan Wadleigh That's the cool thing about songs right?
Joseph Padilla Yes sir
Chris Clark yes its true, nice guitar btw
Dustin is awesome but Teppei is outstanding at this one
coz i want honey on my table
Shinedown stole this riff.
For what song?
dude omg. 7 seconds in can tell he is usimg a swiss pick #bestpicksever
Tom Hardy?
Sorry but two is twice, not thrice, but like song anyway
Hipster as f
Song needed more emotion this version has it...
its okay, the seether version is far better
the sound mixing isn't as good as others i've heard. tippei's picking is buried during the chorus lol
