Funny how I sent Black Honey and 1979 (among a few other songs) to a friend last night and I just found out about this cover now O_o dug just a little further in the hole of recommended Thrice videos, didn't even have to search for it!
Smashing Pumpkins and Thrice, couldn't be a better combination if you tried. I have a new found appreciation for this song after hearing thrice play it. Cant wait to see them live!
Bob Awesome no joke there. He turned a song I despised hearing into a cover I would listen to at any given time. What they did with 1979 is truly incredible. They took a song I already loved and made me hear it in a new light I like as much and more than the original.
Agreed. Not going to lie, I was never really into Smashing Pumpkins. The lead's vocals are a little rough to get into. But Dustin? Yea, that's my shit right there.
Shakedown, 1979 Cool kids never have the time On a live wire right up off the street You and I should meet June bug skipping like a stone With the headlights pointed at the dawn We were sure we'd never see an end to it all And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues And we don't know just where our bones will rest To dust, I guess forgotten and absorbed to the Earth below Double-cross the vacant and the bored They're not sure just what we have in store Morphine city slippin' dues down to see That we don't even care as restless as we are We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts And poured cement Lamented and assured To the lights and towns below Faster than the speed of sound Faster than we thought we'd go Beneath the sound of hope Justine never knew the rules Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls No apologies ever need be made I know you better than you fake it to see That we don't even care to shake these zipper blues And we don't know just where our bones will rest To dust, I guess forgotten and absorbed to the Earth below The street heats the urgency of now As you see there's no one around
Grew up as huge SP fan, Thrice all-time favorite but SP was 1st. Righteous cover, the Charger in the video was sick and appreciate the nova wagon in Black Honey.
"The Fall of Troy" and "Thrice" are two bands I truly love, despite my general aversion to the overall genre. There is some great music in that slice of time. Edit: Mars Volta is epic also

Filet mignon That was one of the best years for that tour. Atrey, Thrice, Deftones, As I Lay Dying, Thursday...uhmm. can't recall who else. I saw it in Saskatoon Sask.
Sick performance guys! Im trying to figure out what the guitars are tuned to, I think Its a full step for both guitars but the capo is throwing me off.
Got chills at 2:05 when the voices harmonized together for the bridge.
The sound of that rusty perfect melody...
Alright Thrice. It's overdue. We want a solid acoustic album of our favorite songs.
RAFatturi we the people demand this!
RAFatturi Ohgod please that would be amazing
Dustin Kensrue - Thoughts That Float on a Different Blood
Craig Balmer Such a brilliant collection of songs. I was fortunate to be at one of his performances.
that's called the Earth album...
jokes aside, surprised they haven't done it yet.
One of my favorite voices with one of the most nostalgic songs. This is everything😭
Two of my favourites collide beautifully
Funny how I sent Black Honey and 1979 (among a few other songs) to a friend last night and I just found out about this cover now O_o dug just a little further in the hole of recommended Thrice videos, didn't even have to search for it!
He can honestly sing random lyrics and make it sound amazing. Thrice has always been one of my favorite bands.
Thrice sings some of the best acoustic songs i have ever heard..Thank you guys!
Kurt Cobaine is perhaps remembering his unplugged set and smiling down upon the world.
Smashing Pumpkins and Thrice, couldn't be a better combination if you tried.
I have a new found appreciation for this song after hearing thrice play it.
Cant wait to see them live!
these dudes never disappoint
Have you heard their latest album ?!
I wish Dustin would just cover every song in existence. On top of making new music. His voice is so amazing. So much emotion, pain, and soul.
I wish I saw him cover Dinosaur Jr. I heard he covered Feel The Pain. I'm a sucker for my favorite bands covering each other.
I couldn’t agree more
Dustin does some of the best covers ever. That Wrecking Ball one was really really good.
Bob Awesome no joke there. He turned a song I despised hearing into a cover I would listen to at any given time.

Boys sets fire do better i guess
impresive AF!
Thrice fan in me is chuffed at a great cover.
Guitar nerd is chuffed to see a banner Gibson being played live. Sounds amazing.
This was superb. One of my favorite songs by two of my favorite musicians.
Beautiful version, been on repeat for half an hour.
I have a new found appreciation for this song after hearing thrice play it.

100!!! I never liked Smashing Pumpkins…. But I can listen to this on repeat.
Literally my two favorite bands 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
I literally almost fell in live with you lol. Jk
Shakedown, 1979
Cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
You and I should meet
June bug skipping like a stone
With the headlights pointed at the dawn
We were sure we'd never see an end to it all
And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust, I guess forgotten and absorbed to the Earth below
Double-cross the vacant and the bored
They're not sure just what we have in store
Morphine city slippin' dues down to see
That we don't even care as restless as we are
We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts
And poured cement
Lamented and assured
To the lights and towns below
Faster than the speed of sound
Faster than we thought we'd go
Beneath the sound of hope
Justine never knew the rules
Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls
No apologies ever need be made
I know you better than you fake it to see
That we don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust, I guess forgotten and absorbed to the Earth below
The street heats the urgency of now
As you see there's no one around
Thrice is by far the coolest band of the last 20 years!
First time hearing this and oh my god....My headphones are filled with pure gold. This is fucking amazing..
Grew up as huge SP fan, Thrice all-time favorite but SP was 1st. Righteous cover, the Charger in the video was sick and appreciate the nova wagon in Black Honey.
Dustin and Teppei are absolute masters. Keep up the fantastic work!!!!!
such a rare gem
Smashing Pumpkins and Thrice, couldn't be a better combination if you tried.
They’ve been my favorite band since 2004. I can’t even explain why. They just are.
2005 right here 10 yo
I'm so happy this exists. Thrice, I love you.
Solid cover by a solid band, of one of my all time favorite songs.
Fucking multiorgasmic sound, this is singed and played with pure passion, goddamn gave me the chills!!
I couldn't help but close my eyes and drift away.. Perfection does exist
Love thrice. They kill it every time!!!!
"The Fall of Troy" and "Thrice" are two bands I truly love, despite my general aversion to the overall genre.
There is some great music in that slice of time.
Edit: Mars Volta is epic also

Takes me back to my high school days. Great cover!

Taste of Chaos 2006/Ottawa,Ontario... Left the line to meet As I Lay Dying to see Thrice's set. NO REGRETS!
Filet mignon That was one of the best years for that tour. Atrey, Thrice, Deftones, As I Lay Dying, Thursday...uhmm. can't recall who else. I saw it in Saskatoon Sask.
Fucking taste of chaos duduuuuddde
@@KPNasty1 I went to the Milwaukee date and the main bands were Dredg, As I Lay Dying, Story of the Year, Atreyu, Thrice and Deftones.

Great cover! Fan of both grps! Thrice is my favorite band for rest of my life period🔥✔❇🌶
oh Dustin has my old Gibson guitar. never should have sold mine

It's my favorite band, covering my other favorite band!
It sounds fantastic! The only thing I would wish for if I see you performing this live is more of these "dual voice parts". Keep up the great sound!
LOVE THIS!!!
beautiful cover. beautiful voice, man.
SO SO GOOD!!!!!
Amazingly beautiful as always
Two of my fav bands
His voice. Holy shit, his voice.
This is fantastic.
And EMO/ Hardcores Tom Hardy kicks out a blinder! Met him a while back in a club in uk, total gent. God speed thrice.

Damn this sounds even cooler than the original version, which I adore BTW.

Dude I used to LOVE Thrice, artist in the ambulance I believe?
yesss!
185 people need to get their heads checked
Well done🤩
has anyone tabbed this yet? Godamnnn i cant get enough
Can't like this enough.
Hello repeat button my old friend.
excellent
💗💗💗💗💗
awesome
Cool cover. I love Thrice, but Billy Corgan rocks this song.
strungoutboy21 Dustin Kensrue > Billy Corgan
Idk man Dustin gave me goosebumps with this one
And Billy Corgan can't really sing for shit. He sounds good in the studio, but falls apart live. Dustins voice is the real deal.
Well, yeah...Dustin is a better singer than Billy, though.
We dug. 🐉
Sick performance guys! Im trying to figure out what the guitars are tuned to, I think Its a full step for both guitars but the capo is throwing me off.
Fucken gorgeous! Pardon my language but wow.
To bad they arnt coming to New Zealand anytime soon :(
OMG
To those 130 that disliked this.. I'm curious what you consider like-able..
Gucci gang most likely
does anybody have the tune and chords of this cover? sounds amazing!
Fire
Ummm sounds phenomenal
Who's still here? Nov. 2024.
🍆
Dustin Kensrue for the win! wow
These guys are so good they made me like a song I had originally hated. Good job Thrice.
When I heard him play Miley Cyrus it changed my perspective on music forever
The Contortionist just did an amazing cover of this song during their tour.
It's on their new ep now! ( if you didnt already know )
Teppei's Taylor.... so awesome.
Wow I like this better than the original
Why do I hear David grey ? So dope.
Shit that was great!
That little bit of the start kinda sounded like everlong by the foo fighters
Not a fan of Billy Corgin but I like the song... If that makes sense so this makes sense. 😜
tabs please
I actually can't stand the tone of the Smashing Pumpkins singer, so Dustin just made me fall in love with this version.
You can tell the video editor isn't a guitar player. I'm trying to learn the chords but it cuts away every time.
How'd they make it better?
Better is subjective.
Different is objective.
the last line sounds like Cory Brannan
Playing it a little to fast but still sounds bad fucking ass
