The Never Miss was flown out of Salem, Oregon for quite a few years. Loved watching him fly around.

This is a play off of Urban Drew's P-51D "Detroit Miss" (E2*D).
A7 was a P-47 squadron as I recall, so not accurate, but a pretty scheme regardless. Truly my favorite RC plane so far (400, 450, 500, 750 experience here).

The paint is a bit of a nod to "Lou IV" (E2*C) of the famous Bottisham Four formation of P-51s [color photo] from WWII as well. .

The prop saver is better than on the 400 but there are no spares to be found. I had to convert to the 400-style.

400s (and 500s) fly great without stabilization once you learn how.
Stay at altitude with some nose up trim. Roll inverted and let it dip then roll upright to climb. Bank to turn and let the trim do the work.
Move to Immelman and Split-S maneuvers and voila. You'll get it down fast.

Thanks, glad you liked the vid! My Spit is the TopRC one - I bought it because it was the only version of those micro warbirds that had a Mode 1 transmitter option. To be honest it's not as smooth as the same size P-51 to fly. Cheers.

You are about the second to put up any sort of video on this, Pete. Mine arrives Monday - I hope!
Everybody has (and is entitled to) their own style in making these type of videos but (to give yourself a chance to grow your viewership a bit quicker) I'd like to make a couple of suggestions.
Most folks who might be considering buying these toys (presumably the reason your sponsor is shipping them to you is to promote sales!) would be interested in getting a clear look at all the features of the product and its control. So some clear shots of the manual's important information plus some of the plane's board, service hatches and general construction would be of interest. I mean you've not even mentioned (or even possibly noticed) that the tail wheel is steerable!
Plus you have the Tx from the 400mm P-51 right there but no doubt have never checked to be sure whether it IS interchangeable with the 500mm Tx. Just because it LOOKS exactly the same DOES NOT mean that it IS the same! For instance the Tx from the 750mm Volantex V768-1 P-51 looks EXACTLY the same as the one for the 400mm P-51 but is definitely NOT compatible!
For anybody chasing really useful info try Googling - RCGroups Volantex-P51D-Mustang-RC-Plane-2-4G-4CH-500MM-Brushless - there are pictures on there of the board etc and real world users can update their experiences.
Please note that this whinge is not meant to discourage you from making these videos. For all their faults and deficiencies I'd greatly prefer them to those of some moronic young twit who thinks that blaring Muzak and psychedelic visuals of crashing planes a cool review make! AND further the public's view of what the hobby and hobbyists think that's what we're all about! 😱🙄

Oz... thanks for the thoughts, possibly a bit harsh. I do my best mate, I'm no great video maker and it doesn't come naturally to be honest, so perhaps I should leave it to the younger generations who seem better abled. These vids are aimed at those likely to be buying something like this for the first time. Would this type of pilot be worried about the Tx for this one being interchangeable with the smaller version? Not so sure. Perhaps I should have mentioned that despite the two Tx's being exactly the same visually, that the electronics might be different, but to a newbie pilot I don't think it's such an important point to make. There are a couple of service hatches, one under the nose and the air scoop - the latter reveals the tail servos. Yes, I could have mentioned those but didn't really think to. Anyway, it looks a great little plane and I hope you enjoy yours next week.

@@Pete-RcAirplaneWorld Certainly not meant to be harsh mate - just offering a few suggestions to give you the best chance to get a following. Your gentle unassuming style is certainly a BIG improvement on some of the religious crank types/baksheesh effendi sites/hours-long epics to monopolize the audience opposition on the Toob!
And I take your point about what an absolute beginner might be happy with BUT there's no reason to just limit yourself to that market. After all these videos will be up for quite a while and also noobs may well become long term aficionados. 😉😊

    Dear Pete,
Thank you for this video. I'm eager to get one of these.
I just have one question. I want to buy extra lipos with it. Would you please tell us what are the dimensions of the original 2S lipo (in mm please ?)
Bedt regards, have a great day, and happy flying when the weather's compliant. 😊

Thanks Pierre for the comment - you'll love this plane. I might (fingers crossed...) be able to get out with it later this evening for its maiden flight, the wind seems to be getting less today. The stock 2S battery is 40mm long x 20mm wide x 15mm thick. It has the standard red JST connector to connect to the plane, and the white JST-XH connector for charging/balancing. I still don't know the capacity but I would guess maybe 500 - 700mAh, something like that.
www.amazon.co.uk/Radiolink-FULLYMAX-Connector-Airplane-Controller/dp/B0BRPQ5RKK is an example of the connectors, although this particular pack is slightly too big. Cheers.

Pierrre I was wrong about the lack of labelling on the battery pack. It is there but it is black text on black plastic - not very clever! The capacity is 400mAh and 25C.

Hi - it's available from kidstoylover.com at the moment. Not sure where else - it doesn't even appear to be on the VolantexRC website yet and I can't find it on any other rc store websites - at least not here in the UK. I work closely with Kids Toy Lover and help promote their products for them, and I can certainly recommend them as a reputable and trustworthy company with good customer service. They have a few warehouses around the globe so shipping varies between a few days and a week or so, depending on where in the world you are. Definitely treat yourself to this brushless P-51, I've just been out with it again this afternoon and love it. You won't be disappointed! 🙂

Yes! The only feature you lose is the "Find My Lost Plane" beeper. The transmitter for this will also fly all the smaller ones.
