  • This is probably one of the more elaborate custom grounding kits you would ever see on a vehicle. Not only do I ground everything under the hood, but I attach a ground wire to the battery and bring it into the cab and ground the whole perimeter.
    Car starts with the same effort, but I noticed a little smoother idle and the stock sound system sounds much clearer at high volumes.
    I would definitely recommend getting this done at your local install shop to help give a better foundation for the 12 volt charging system.

    Nissan Japan ONLY gave an optional oem earthing ground system. This is why it explains the unused bolt holes surrounding the VQ bay area. The oem ground wires are almost impossible to find but they are shown on the fairladyz japanese dealer brochure

    Just got this upgrade done to my car...dual 12" JL w3 woofers...600 watt slash amp...all installed by Anthony at visions electronics in surrey. I didn't get the big 3...or grounding upgrade then. Wow what a difference this made...My lights no longer dim or flash on the large bass lines...I also DEFINITIVELY heard a difference in sound. Id say easy 10%-15% harder bass hits. I didn't know how much of a difference the big 3 does...anyone doing any kind of sound system of good quality...get lots of dynamat...and upgrade your grounding...the big 3 is the best upgrade ive done to my system hands down. Go see Anthony at Visions in surrey.

    I like how you're trying to make all these electrical upgrades look like they're from the factory by matching the tapes etc.

      @@sloppydoggy9257 Glad I can help the reputation lol. I heard in the construction field we have a way higher standard than the States for regulation. But when it comes to automotive there are a lot of high end people working on cars there, but they have 10 times more the population.

      Not sure about construction standards. I think construction standards differ widely from city to city and state to state. There's a strong car culture in the US for sure. heh

      My buddy that's an electrician was telling me from their end of the industry. But there are good and bad trades people everywhere. I'm never going to say all Canadian installers are good, because we have our share of ones that do sub par work. I just hope platforms like UA-cam will help show people doing good work to help inspire others to try harder.

    on moder vehicles all engine sensors crank sensor, camshaft sensor, tps, and many more, are not grounded to any part of the engine, there either supply with 5volt reference or 12+ and ground signal from pcm. the only part of the engine that need a good ground is the cylinder heads were the sparkplugs are bolted on. negative battery post to engine block , engine block to vehicle frame, and cylinder heads to firewall...and maybe alternator case to battery negative post, those are pretty much good grounding points and all you need, its all in the gauge of the wires. if the battery positive wire to the alternator is a 4 gauge then the ground wires should be too.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      +roberto ortiz Sensors aside, wouldn't you say upgrading existing grounds on the motor is beneficial at least as preventative maintenance? This motor had a few ground wires already bolted to it, I just added thicker ones and put them together in such a way they would have a harder time oxidizing (which creates resistance in a line).

    I have a question, what is a ground loop and is it bad for picking up noises in a car audio system? thanks ahead of time brother. Love the video its sick,excellent work.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      +mark demelo Having a ground loop in your system creates that "engine noise/ whine" sound. "Thus, a system grounded at two different points, with a potential difference between the two grounds can cause unwanted noise voltage in the circuit paths."
      Here's a site that has a great write up on ground loops: www.audioholics.com/home-theater-connection/ground-loops-eliminating-system-hum-and-buzz

    • @wernerlab13
      @wernerlab13 7 років тому

      So by doing all these multiple grounding points around the vehicle create ground loops (noise) in the audio system or did this actually help? You mentioned in the video of adding an amp at some point...how does it sound noise wise? (any hum etc?)

    Is there a "best" year when buying a 350Z? It will be a second car for spirited driving and some light track/autocross duty.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому +1

      +Eric Timmer 2007+ are the best years overall for the 350Z (HR motor). Lots of refinement done. You get twin intake filters, equal length headers and some other stuff. 2006 I think is the best bang for your buck year (some have an oil consumption problem though). 2006 you get a more powerful engine (Rev UP motor which responds great to mods, better transmission (CD009 is the transmission you want 2005.5+ would have it. 2006 also has the same front end as 2007+ minus the hood bulge.
