The drush+fc may disappear from Arabia, only to make a comeback on Arena!
The beast has came out of its cave! Look!
Seriously, where were you?
4:00 that is the most beautiful use of siege tower I have ever seen
That was perfect!
That's why I always build my houses along the walls :)
I love this way of showing the matches
Its pure art!
If someone fails a tower / castle rush, you always need to wall in the foundation because they will stubbornly keep trying with more villagers
I always delay a bit to click Feudal just to not get suprised by a tower rush (and have no option to click loom right away). So when i notice the tower rush i click loom, delete my wall and heavy vill fight. The oponent should quick wall right away but around my elo (1600), always works.
Ps: The timing of the oponent advance to feudal tower rush is between you click feudal with 25 or 26 pop. So, I always plan to go 26 if i suspect (teutons or poles as enemies for ex).
I think this aprroach is better than drush. (at my elo)
If you look at your opponent's score, you can catch when they click up when their score drops. If their score drop when your supply is 19-22, they are doing something in feudal age (it does kind of depend on your opponents civ)
0:12 lol first time hearing "home civ"
Gotta represent for Nations Cup!
Unbelieveable... thanks for bringing this unique strategy to us.
Epic strat! 11 as long as you're sure the enemy is trushing
yo this was super helpful thanks. definitely keeping the drush at home to destroy the tower is the right call
Great game and great analysis, it seems its 50 50 because as you say they might not trush, and if that happens you've wasted so much time. Scouting is definitely key. More so than usual when facing a trush flank, look for any info you can vills on their stone, etc..
Not really a 50 50 when against a civ that trushes like 80% of the time, but yes, that is the downside of that strat.
it feels like after the militia, going for your own trush may be a good option
would be very late
@@anaccountmusthaveaname9110 I wouldnt say it would be very late because the development of the game is alot slower in arena.
I think there is 2 case. First is they don't trush at all,. In this case it almost feels like you need to do something to disturb your opponent. Considering you can do like a 20 vil up with militia, and if your opponent goes fc, you have a good 60-90 second window to do something. I think the key is to watch the score of your opponent very carefully to see when they click up so you can go forward as soon as you get to feudal. Also in team games, I think your flanks spawn relatively close to one another.
Case 2 is like this game. I think if you defended the first tower, you already have a lot of vills forward, and it may not be a bad idea to counter trush
@@kojii6159 If the opponent doesn't trush, you just lose the game. Simple as that. You need to do something to make things happen but anything you could do would be something that is balanced without militia and nonviable with militia.
At the point where Uzzi won the Villager fight he was still in the Dark Age, so he'd have to wait a bit before he could build towers. I'm not sure what the best follow-up is, but the timing makes Feudal aggression tricky.
@@anaccountmusthaveaname9110 I dont think that is necessarily true. militia+tower is not a terrible idea. Obviously not ideal, but it is a strategy that i would say is probably the best option. If you can force out a loom, or a tower or 2 from a player going fc, I would argue thats the best case scenario for a bad situation you are already in. Also closing a hole that exist is quite challenging when you are rushed like this.
The drush was a great play, the only mistake was not raising the tower foundation using vils or militia
I don't like agreeing with UA-camrs in their comments but in this case I think you were spot on
I usually prefer to avoid responding to threads where a person is talking to themselves however in this specific instance you are absolutely correct
Did you mean to say razing the tower?
I don't think I've ever seen a siege tower be useful. Inspiring.
You might wanna check out Survivalist's streams, or his Siege Tower Longswords strat. He just evaluated a build for that on stream yesterday.
In fact 2-3 Petards would do exactly same thing cheaper and permanent. Both units are good only as surprise weapons.
@@TovKafur SW and tower is faster than building a castle
@@julianxamo7835 And ram is cheaper, duh.
I think that, unless you go your own trush after that, is not worth it (the wood in the barrack, the gold, the food and the delay uptime)
Isn't it unadvisable? The teuton can still counter the trush with superior defensive towers can he not?
@@sharktrap267 Yeah, i think so. In that case, you can trush the pocket, and use the milita (or men at arms) to defend yourself.
Well this is more a counter-strategy than a strategy itself since It does nothing if the opponent is not a specific civ doing a specific strategy
In 1v1 Teutons tower (1200) tuitions tower never work. I just drop one tower click up. My scouts or knights or siege will kill sometimes I give ground to trap vils
I still feel like dropping your own castle either in defense or counter castling their base is the best move personally.
It's also possible to just wall behind and make a mangonel in castle age.
The question is more: Is it really worth for Annotoph to invest so heavily into castle age pressure?
Target is - no matter the success against Uzzi - so much behind anyway that he won't be able to play a significant role so it's clear that he won't be able to really help vs either Kingstone or Lobode. In my opinion this was not too clever played strategically by Germany where if the pocket decides not to help and boom instead, this requires a reaction on the German team as well. So therefore I'd say: Well defended Uzzi & Mexico nonetheless!
If you are Cumans yes otherwise there is not much point doing the feudal boom with this civ if not going for faster type of pressure.
In my experience the Cumans need to do damage in late Castle/early Imperial to take advantage of their boom, as otherwise their unit composition falls off in the late game on Arena (even with fully upgraded Paladins with bonus speed). He probably needed to find a way to do damage on his side or hit one of the pockets instead of going after Uzzi, but I think Cumans vs Slavs pocket is generally a hard matchup for the Cuman player.
Going in would have been fine if he walled the foundation
Sorry for my noobness but how is it important for orange to build a tower there? I dont even understand why its good?
Tower rushing on Arena can prevent your opponent from Fast Castling or make them invest heavily into defending from the towers. It gives you control of a large area of the map. The first tower is so you can prevent them from walling behind when you attack their outer layer of walls. Then more towers go insider of their base to take more map control. And since the Teuton towers shoot more arrows it's extremely difficult to defend a Teuton tower rush with your own towers, like you would against most other civilizations.
I think the question isn't really "is the Drush a good option?" but "what other option did he have?". I'm not an experienced player, but from my point of vue it's either that or conceding the area hoping you can gain back advantage in the castle age.
The drush is less than ideal imo given the timing required, making it easy to fizzle, but if it's the best option we have, gotta fo with it I guess?
Is there another option?
Other options would be standard Arena tower defenses: wall the area that's getting trushed and use defensive towers while deciding whether to fc and go for a castle or mangonels to clean the towers or to stay Feudal for a while to fight it off.
As someone who mostly plays Arena, the easiest way is to just wall behind and make a mangonel in castle age.
Staying in Fuedal to counter tower has a lower success rate
I'm confused - don't towers have the same range as a mangonel?
dude been 1 year when is civ builder
yum
Why wouldn’t u destroy the tower foundation 😵💫 your own vills we’re right there and take no time to take it down
Maybe he thought he killed so many Vils it wouldn't be necessary. But yeah, in hindsight it feels like a big mistake to let it just sit there.
@@T-West my first thought is always “can I destroy this before they can cancel and get any stone back” but maybe that’s just me
Imho way too risky, especially in team games. I think the Teuton Player would have been better of with a crazy boom into a castle dropped on Uzi's base.
For me, I'll do this and 99% of the time the opponent will just fc
it is pretty much useless unless you have a teuton flank and even then it sets you back even if the trush fails thanks to it. so.. no.
Great breakdown, one thing though at around 4 minute mark you pronounce obuchy with an -i like sound at the end, but Polish y is pronounced as ɘ (as in myth).
US-E hmm
T-west not doing new dlc?
I'll probably make a video about the announcement. I'm not really interested in the Aoe1 stuff, not sure if I'll buy it just for the campaigns.
not an option at all, easily defendable
Thats why you should never be greedy. Just defend your base then return. Usi mistake was running after him. Btw when is pacifist campaign coming out plz 🥺
Trushing teutons not the best strat
Love your content but I am disappointed that you won’t be buying the return of Rome dlc to support the franchise which has allowed you to monetise your UA-cam channel and make unique content. Also I really wanted you to do a pacifist aoe1 campaign in aoe2 engine so please buy it thanks
If you're interested in seeing aoe1 in the aoe2 engine check out the video I made about it years ago here: ua-cam.com/video/MDOsL_JOR2E/v-deo.html
Buying something in which I'm not interested is the opposite of "support" and actively is detrimental to the game. I personally know and am friends with many of the people who work on these projects. And the best way to assist them is by being honest. Especially when I'm a content creator with a responsibility for being honest with my audience and viewers.
(Also, FYI, I don't directly monetize my UA-cam videos. If there's ever an ad it's due to a custom scenario using music that's picked up by the content id system.)
