Nice! My dad was a master tech for Toyota for 20 years and amassed a full Matco box, a snap on box, and a Cornwell tool cart. You’re off to a great start with what you got, but I definitely see a full sized box in your future
Great video! Perfect example of buying what you actually need! I’m at the point where I have everything I need but I buy extras of some stuff and whenever I come across a special tool I need to do the job I buy it just cause I hate borrowing tools.
I with you on that. Or sometimes I see another tech using a special tool I’ve never used yet and I ask them if they use it a lot or if our dealership gets that job often I’ll just buy it so I have it when the time comes!

Oh that’s gay. Did they provide you with tools for your first few months until you saved up enough to buy your own? I heard the pay is nothing for even master techs so I wouldn’t expect Toyota to expect you to have your own tools from the start
I’ve been to 3 Toyota dealers and every single one you’ve had to provide your own tools. Lube rack included. And that’s pretty much the industry standard. I’ve only been to 1 dealer where they provided tools for the lube rack but even then the guys used their own tools. Pay for master tech at the dealerships I’ve been to are pretty good actually
Even the lube rack guys have to provide their own tools? That’s insane. That’s probably why dealerships are always looking for lube techs. You can go apply at Valvoline, Jiffy Lube or any other quick lube place where you basically do the same thing, get paid the same and they provide everything. All you have to show up to work with is your uniform and your brain
@@tyronesmith3812 If you enroll yourself in some kind of automotive program at your local community college you'll usually be provided VERY hefty discounts through your school on the higher end tool brands such as Matco, MAC, and Snap-On. The discounts really help. I was able to get all the tools I needed for a BMW training program with the discounts for a few thousand dollars or so. Tools are extremely expensive when you're getting into the field but they are an investment at the end of the day.

You’ll be happy with the box. Not only that but the freedom to move around and work anywhere. If my bays are down I can go anywhere in the shop and take my cart and do about id say 95% of the work we get.
That’s a real tough question. Finances, health, etc a lot is based off if it’s a late start or not. I would say based off 41 I would say that’s a very late start to be getting into the dealership since they will most likely start you off in the lube rack. I worked lube rack 3 months then TXM Pro 3 months and onto the line after that. So if you worked hard I’d imagine you could get to the line quick and get better pay. I would say it’s too late though because once you start getting into the heavy line stuff it’s very taxing on the body. I’ll be making 2 videos here in the near that may answer this better so stay tuned for that!
If you want to learn and just enjoy it, sure. As a career, depends, it can be hard to pay the bills if you get into a bad shop. Not so much a career, unless you're planning on your own shop or can get a job at a good shop that'll take care of you. This is coming from a Honda tech. I got my degree, and busted my ass, and it's really about finding a good place to work. Just my two cents.

I bought these off the Mac Tool Truck. But if you search up lisle air hose holder you might be able to find them
The long pry bar magnet right? Thanks
Oh those are also Mac tools as well. But you can get them anywhere. I know Lowe’s sells some as well. I believe 20 bucks
Does Toyota buy your tools for you? Do they give you a voucher?
No they don’t. We have to buy our own tools. They do however provide the SSTs (Special Service Tools)
You need more Snap-ons son,
Sincerely, Dad
The entire time I was thinking. fan boy
I agree! Some things just feel better in your hand and sometimes you know people who work high up and get you real good deals or you buy used or repo’d snap on tools! Well said
Channellock brand is it’s own brand
Yeah I realized what I said after I published it lol. I meant to say I bought it at Home Depot
I just realized, I should cover my tool box in stickers
Sure this same a sealey one in UK
Holy fuck the muffin tray is genius, but everyone will call you the muffin man
Lol thank you. I appreciate it
Whats the size of your cart ?
I’ve never measured it but if you look up harbor freight 5 drawer tool cart the measurements should be online
People in my shop think I’ve got a lot fit in my 5 drawer got it’s nothing compared to this. I blame the paperwork lol
Not trying to talk down on you but why don’t you prefer working for Porsche or Maserati, Mercedes Benz?
My first job offer I got while I was working at Americas tire was with toyota. Once I started working I haven’t really looked else where. The work is there to flag good hours and I really started to like the product and company of Toyota
@@BustedKnucklesGarage1 Got you, I respect that. I’m no technician, just do my own maintenance on my cars at home and recently purchased this exact tool cart to organize all my tools. I was getting tired of searching through big heavy box to find the right size haha
You’ll be happy with the box. Not only that but the freedom to move around and work anywhere. If my bays are down I can go anywhere in the shop and take my cart and do about id say 95% of the work we get.
Am I to old to get into automotive mechanics ? I'm 41 and an industrial mechanic. But only know basics about cars.
But if you just work for experience to open your own shop or just want to learn about cars, I'd get into it. Not so much a career, unless you're planning on your own shop or can get a job at a good shop that'll take care of you. This is coming from a Honda tech. I got my degree, and busted my ass, and it's really about finding a good place to work. Just my two cents.
No need for the Snap on emblem sticker, you should be proud of the US General boxes
Agreed and I would actually feel embarrassed with a snap on box or tool. I would feel like I would get looked at as a gullible consumer.
whats with all the stickers on the outside and probably a good time to get a snap on box great vid new sub
Thank you. I appreciate it! I just like stickers. A lot of them are places I’ve been and seen etc. I can’t justify the price of a box when it just holds tools and doesn’t make money. I’ll spend money on tools because that makes me the money 🔧
The home Depot brand is husky. Those are channel lock channel lock is not a home Depot brand
I don’t remember what I said but i think I said “I got from Home Depot” but I know channel lock is not Home Depot brand
God bless America
Bro the title says the cart is US General but I can clearly see the Snap-On emblem on the front (sarcasm).
Lol. I actually get a lot of people with that lol until they see the serial number sticker on the back hahah
💯💯
Appreciate it!
snap on stickers adds 80% more value to your cart
Facts lol
