They came in these 3-D craft kits where you would have 4 die cut copies of a painting and you would punch out the peices and layer the punch outs on the original peice and it would make a 3-D collage painting when you were done. My kids loved to make them and there would be sheets of the foam squares leftover from each one. The foam square are the best because they don't weaken and dry out over time like the scrapbook ones do. Sadly they don't seem to make the craft kits anymore but I seem to have a lifetime of the foam squares LOL!

You mean the stamped image is in the notebook, not the actual stamp I think. That's a good idea then you see what it looks like. I'm trying to learn watercolor, and spend a lot of time drawing. Sometimes I just want to do the painting part. Thinking I lean more towards landscapes and nature stuff. So it would be nice to have a few stamps that I can put waterproof ink on and just paint those images. Flowers, bugs, fruit, and trees to make a forest

My husband built me a wood holder for all my stamps but honestly I got tired of digging and trying to find one. So the other day I decided to photocopy all of my stamps (I tired stamping but it was a hot mess) give them numbers and then I can just flip through pages of paper and find that number that goes with the number I put on the stamp package or sheet protector it is in! I hope it works!

Thank you for sharing Lindsay, it sure is a great way to store your stamps as it makes it easier to find what you are looking for. I have mine currently in alphabetical order as I don’t have too many yet but I know eventually I will have to change it. The way you have them set up sure makes more sense with the amount of stamps you have and I think that is the way I will set them up once mine get to the point where the alphabetical order won’t work anymore. My suggestion for anyone just starting out is to adopt a filing system straight off the bat to make life easier from word get go.

Hey Lindsay! I started making cards almost 18yrs ago. And like you, and most other crafty peeps, the collection grew without really "noticing" it. Then i stepped back during the pattern paper "fade out" and returned during the distress oxide boom! And that's when I found you... I've made almost all the diy shimmers, sprays, pastes, etc...and CONTINUOUSLY go back to watch the glycerin video for more ideas and info! I did see you had shown how to store cling stamps in binders... I just took it a bit further... Lol. I use 12x12 & 8x10 scrapbooks and buy extenders too:D! I can get (12) 4x6 cling stamp sets in 1 page! Currently, i have (8) 12x12 books, all with extenders. And (6) 4in/ 3 ring binders, to use pocket pages that have 2 5x7 pockets. I found your advice super helpful in managing my collection. I love making custom card creations that offer my clients a VERY personal touch...so having lots of scene building options, people, characters, careers, and animals were "needed" to customize each card. Thanks for teaching all of ways to save and when it's time to spend, if we REALLY want/need it!

I’m so impressed and envious by you’re wood stamp wall! I think I own about five wood stamps I bought in Santa Barbara, CA, the shop was called “Stampabarbara” lol... I’m just getting into more junk journal books and water color painting but I use to do more of buying small little wicker baskets and wreaths and glued on little silk flowers, I did make flower baskets for my wedding for my two little cousins who were my flower girls, and made about 150 chocolate wedding theme lollipops and packaged and mauve and white ribbons to tie the cellophane, it was so much work since I did it all myself! But it was all worth it..that was 27 years ago lol... but I love making things with my hands, after I went through having breast cancer two years ago (it was caught in the early stages, so all is good now), I had no motivation to want to do anything, just a year ago, I started back up and it makes me so happy to create pretty things. I have several plastic bins my hubby and pretty fabric baskets bought for me, he’s so helpful... we have a guest bedroom, it’s turning into a catch all with my craft bins and baskets, my husband said he’ll reorganize the closet in that room to fit all my things... I just said, or we can just move to a bigger house! Our house is 1500 sq. ft.... I just need more cabinet space, my husband doesn’t need his home office! Lol 😉

Talking about that first Christmas stamp to "save money": I went virtual shopping on the supplies some people use for cards, the trendy this, the specialty or nichey that. If buying the supplies and tools the first time for one little batch of cards, it was sometimes $200-300+. Considering we can get cute cards at Half Priced Books or whatever for hardly anything, economics is not why we pursue these hobbies. But sadly, many people undervalue the end products. Oh well, the people who watch your channel understand the cost and value.

I picked up on your comment regarding Jennifer McGuire using fridge bins. I didn't know anything about that but last year I put all my Stampin Up Stamps and RST peg stamps in clear fridge bins (picked up at Job Lots on sale) and have labeled them by categories. I do keep the peg stamps in the box, easier for me but they do take up a lot of room. I put acrylics inside Inque Boutique stamp storage cases which have 3 holes on the sides and store them in Project Life 12 x 12 albums. Red Rubber stamps are in Totally Tiffany pages inside TT Binder. I don't have as many wood stamps but I put those in Recollection 1.5 in tall 12 x 12 project cases which are labeled. Those are in the same bookcase as the binders. Now that I've organized them, I find I use the stamps more often! I Love your videos!

Would you ever consider doing a video about your art journey from amatuer to professional? I'd love to see you talk about that process and it would help me in my journey as well. Thanks so much for all the sharing you do.

I was wondering if those were stamps in those binders as well. I too store my stamps that way and I have never seen anyone else do it that way - so glad to see someone else doing it that way! :)

I love your storage DYI,very, very helpful. I saw how you have fabrics and yarns stored , the pink bookcase with soft bins. This would be great for my space. I don’t have a lot of footage (6’ X8’)but I do have high ceilings 10’. This is a perfect opportunity for me to categorize my yarns! Thanks Lindsay 🥰🥰

Another fun video Lindsay! I’m at one bin of unmounted stamps and about one bin of wooden stamps and a small bin for my peg stamps (which I love!) but my collection is about to out grow the buns and I’m definitely considering binders. I would love to see a flip through of you vintage storybook stamps.

Wow! I love rubber stamps, but vintage ones are hard to find, at least where I live in Canada. I would love to have a “ Lindsay” wall of rubber stamps.

I may try the binder idea for unmounted stamps. Right now I have them stuffed into a fabric drawer. Very unorganized. I use a DVD storage unit sitting on top of an old desk for my beloved wood mounts because I love them. Likewise, I organize pretty much by idea like "holidays", "floral", "faces", etc. I go to that place first but I'm using more unmounted now. I just love your channel. My whole space is all repurposed and I look to your ideas for motivation!

I am right now in the process of organizing my stamps😄 i am switching out all my stamps similar to the way Jen MaGuire sorts in packets. Then I will sort them by theme. I do keep all my SU ones by set. And I have unmounted most of my wood stamps with Tac it over and over glue. I don't use fridge bins. I found bins at the dollar store that will fit the shelf i have. (And much cheaper). Plus I hardly ever get rid of stamps. I have been stamping since the early 80's. I still have all my house mouse stamps when they were made by StampaRosa😍

Thanks so much for this video chat! I have organized my unmounted stamps in a system similar to Jennifer McGuire's -- each one in a plastic sleeve and placed in bins. But something about that system wasn't working for me. When I heard that you organize your stamps by subject I realized that was what was missing! My stamps are still in plastic sleeves and held in bins, which I like, and works for how many stamps I have. But now they are organized by subject. Already it's easier to browse thru them and find what I have. Like you I have my wood mounted stamps in shelves on the wall -- so much easier to use them when I can see them!

OM Jesus!!! You have an amazing stamp collection💞 I'm just a straight paper crafter, not much of painting or woodwork or other hobbies. I always feel guilty about buying new stamps or paper collections. But, now I'm thinking I shouldn't feel guilty, right!?😉

I have just started. I just got my first kit from Annie's and had to by scissor's, glue, and ink. Every thing I have is in a box, for now. At least things are all together. As I continue, I will start to organize. At the moment, I is envious of your collection, but I know that that takes time.

As a fairly new stamper that collection scares me to death. :)
I started card making because my husband and I started a small business with a focus on personal service. One way we back that up is to send individual homemade thank you and Christmas cards. It gives me and my eight year old son an outlet for our art hobby as well. I try really hard to add small amounts of good quality art supplies to our collection only when they are on sale. I hate the thought of collecting things and not using them. I see so many craft room tours where all the stamp pads and paint bottles are pristine and full and I wonder if they actually craft or if they just like to buy stuff. I'm an extremely tidy person but as neat as I try to be I still get stains on everything. I love that your space and supplies look used and well loved and not just collected.
I mean no disrespect to collectors, it's just not something I want for myself. Most card making videos are done by people selling products and it's a constant battle to try and learn new skills while fighting the urge to aquire new stuff. But like you said there are much worse vises we could have. :)

Love seeing this! I never understood the unmounting craze. Why unmount when you have to remount to use it? Your storage wall serves as decor as well as storage, at least to my eye. Thanks for the tip about origami boxes. I hesitate to use my tiny letters because the boxes frustrate me so. Your craft space is my all-time favorite. It's pretty, practical, and intentional. Every method accommodates shrinkage and growth. Perfect. Tfs. ~ Lisa

I noticed a couple of similarities between us. 1) Once a stamp enters our collection, it takes an act of God for it to leave, lol. 2) While showing your stamps, I kept saying, "Oh I have that one." "I have that one too." Over and over. (I even have the Etch a Sketch stamp). Lol

In the past, I saw how you stored your rubber stamps & did the same thing. It adds inspiration to me when stamping & I use what I have! Regarding the small wood alphabet stamps, could you do a video on how to use them? I tried to rubber band them but they shifted etc. Love all your videos & ideas.

I usually do one by one but if I need to stamp the same word over and over I use washi (or painters) tape to hold them together. I'll try and remember to use them the next time I make a card.

Hey Lindsay....although I knew ahead of time that those binders had your rubber stamps in them, and I've seen that gorgeous wall of woodmounted stamps, I just figured out from watching this video that my stamp storage system, is most definitely not working for me. I have mine stored by brand name and I bet you I don't use 70 percent of my collection. I craft purely for the joy of it so having it stored by category makes so much more sense. Man, I've got a ton of work to do LOL! Appreciate this Lindsay!
