This was a good overview re compression, and would be a good post for ppl deciding to get into DAWs or whichever way they’re interested in getting into recording songs for themselves. I don’t happen to have these, but I have some nice ones. I started off with the 1st Teac 4-track cassette in 1981, but I confess it was years before I even knew what a compressor was, lol. We just stuck a Radio Shack SM-58 looking dynamic mic in the middle of the room facing the ceiling to record the guitar and drums, which was how we usually did the first track. We didn’t know any better. Once I did discover compression after getting into DAWs, I was surprised with how helpful they are. Cymbal crashes “bloom”, vocals sound nice and rich etc. I had no idea. lol.

Great video! ✌️
I wish Ben’s voice/mic sounded this smooth during the live streams!
Trust me--is yet another exemplary emulation effort of classic studio tools from Universal Audio.
175B, favorite compressor of all time!
💪🏻
Added to Spark - I couldn't wait so I just threw it on the master buss. Wow - even without any fiddling, it was a noticeable change for the better.
Yes, I needed this!!! I've been focusing on adding color, presence, and punch!! BTW he mentions Bill Putnam Sr who is the founder of UAD.
bill putnam sr was the founder of uad?!
@@lukemorrish-thomas1961Didn't you know that already?
@@manuelleivatalledo615 amazing that Universal Audio Digital was already digital by then, considering he died in 1989
Now in Spark subscription 👌
Duuuude!! When I saw this at first, I was like...do I really need another damn compressor? The answer was Yes!! Yes, I do !!
C’est quoi la musique 😊😊😊😊
Awh this song from Young The Giant is the best choise. 🤜🤛
I love these two compressors 👌 ps. The song and its mix sounds really cool as well 🎛
Great video! Thanx!
You're welcome!
Sounds lovely, I'm guessing this doesn't have autogain?
Nice examples and video 👍 Thank you sir 🙏🤘
Damn this thing sounds great
How i use is this on a mix? So it gets "saved" on the mix if i mix it down in the DAW? Sorry im new in this
Insert it on tracks as needed, and it will be included when you Bounce.
4:08 Try as I might - I can't hear any difference
Focus on the attack of the kick especially. As the Attack is sped back up, it's ducked down quicker. And be sure to listen on good monitors.
Why do y’all keep an 1176 in a frame on the wall?😂😂
Because it's bad ass.
A demo is not for free. It's a demo.
No shit.
I don't hear anything.. Sounds like a trick !
