Great video ! I 've had my Trace for awhile and haven't had time to get into it. Now I'm going to make time. Have to get my wife to do a tour of her quilt studio above my woodshop for you.
Ok. So I see a flaw as you can waste a mess load of paper. I am not an engineer but I am going to try to make two products work together when I go to walmart in the morning. I am going to purchase a KIDS (Magnetic Drawing Board) 17inch so it will for sure fit under the frame. That way I can trace on the Magnetic board place the Shaper Trace over it and then scan and wipe with no paper loss. Lets get this added to future versions of this product.
hey guys just got my trace. trying to use it for something that is bigger than frame. wondered how? this item is actually able to be mirrored but can't figure that out or if it could be done with ought a mirrored piece too??
What I’ve done is trace the item in full. Draw a line all the way through the tracing, breaking the full trace into frame-fitting areas. Use Trace to grab each section, including the extra line(s). Reassemble (aka “stitch”) in inkscape, using the extra line as an index. (*really* need to see such a “stitch” feature in Studio! As well as the ability at all to use Trace files in Studio :/ )
We've made stamps using linoleum in the past! There's a Shaper Session on that topic www.shapertools.com/en-us/sessions/0026-block-printing-with-origin
UI needs works. The "paint brush" selection tool needs to be able to be sized down, its challenging to select erroneous dots near a drawing and it's also a bit confusing to know which lines are selected. Would be useful to be able to save captures in the "app" so I could go back and make adjustments if I missed something after saving and closing out. So far not impressed, seems ok for rough work; but for precision, getting crisp straight lines or perfect curves, is not as easy as I had hoped.
Im getting a bit worried that if the unthinkable would happen, say Shaper closes down does that leave 100s/1000s of peoples big investments with shaper alone become paperweights?? I wish they remain forever, but nothing lasts forever, and being so web based is concerning for sure.

Newbie here! Excited to get started. Bought mine at the Bay area Makers show
I am not having good luck scanning parts. Is there a setting I am missing on my iPhone to improve the quality. Right now it is pretty bad.
Just want to make text stamps for pottery. How would you guys go about doing that?

Thanks for the feedback!
Why cant I use shaper tap in lieu of trace to make scans scaleable?
It's due to the functionality of the Trace app itself
can you use an ipad screen? i hate the waste of paper
In theory, you could - as long as there is a contrast.
Session 93 not 92
Disappointed there isn’t a native app instead of a clunky web app.
