"After a deadly plague kills most of the world's population, the remaining survivors split into two groups - one led by a benevolent elder and the other by a malevolent being - to face each other in a final battle between good and evil."
This movie took about 2 1/2 days to upscale, with a 3900x and 6900xt. It contains 516,507 frames and at 23.976 frames per second, makes for a runtime of 5 hours and 59 minutes, and 1 second. This movie holds the record for the longest movie I'll ever upscale in my lifetime. From 5.63gb at 1080p to 81gb at 4k. Enjoy.

One of the few films that is a proper adaptation of the book, I remember buying this on VHS, 2x 3 hour tapes, fantastic book, and a fantastic film. Thank you for putting it up here, and even better, not one advert in 6hrs 👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you Stephen King, the Cast and Crew.
How about a cash donation instead? A thank you is always nice but doesn’t help pay the bills.
This movie has even more relevance to today's world than to the 1990s . Great acting by great actors in a story that unfolds coherently and with lots of suspense. Its spirituality and its realness intertwine unbelievably well -Thank you for the immense task of sewing this mini-series together with invisible seams. Well done.
What makes it more relevant today than it was when made? Unless you mean divoc.
@@dougbrowne9890 nope...try covid
very relevant ..
Thank you for taking the time to upscale and upload this..
I'm 40 years old and I have watched this movie every year multiple times since I was in the 4th grade . And it's still my favorite movie of all time !!!
Read the book It's deeper 🌹
@@Marilyn-oz1op This is true , I've always heard the book was deeper ..
Same here. 40 yrs old and can't believe this movies already been out for 30. I remember watching this with my family when it would air on TV over multiple days or pop in the double VHS.
M-O-O-N, that spells Thanks!
Laws, Yes! What a treat to watch an old favorite get the upscale and upload it deserves.
Thanks, Tom! For everything.
❤
This is actually an awesome comment!!! Haven't seen this since way back... But, strangely enough, every once and awhile I spell moon for stuff... A great character only second to The Man... M O O N, that spells Trashcan Man!!! 🤟😎🤘
Classic. 🥰👋🏼🌎
@@ScaryGlenJohnsonI think it may have been inspired by William Wordsworths "Idiot Boy" poem which is well worth a read.
Thanks for the time and effort you put into bringing this movie in such great quality.
After all these Years later the score and music throughout the movie still gets to me ! ❤For those that DON'T know this was originally broadcast as a mini series back in the day ! The Quality of this showing is beyond compare ! Thank you very much for the hard work and upgrades you have made to this GREAT PROPHETIC film ! ❤
I remember, it was one part per week and we all got together and watched this like it was the super bowl. Good times.
Same guy who scored the og wonder years and yes snuffy walden is damn good.
Captain Trips could be real possibility, with all the bioweapons that have be produced in this century. Covid was a plandemic released by the deep state onto the people to discredit Trumps 1st administration and to see how easily led and malleable the world population would be during such an event. Get ready for round two...
They cut far to much out
@@TomTom-k9l like you did with an "o" 😀
Best part is Mr. Sinise. A great talent and a real American! Thanks, Gary, for all you do.
If Hollywood and streaming services won’t upscale their quality then we have you. Thank you!!
Also can say thank you as well very tough and doing this I know it wasn't alone and had some techniques to deal with as well vastly different than regular users also was thinking about how this diseases differs from real life and compares is one and another can be good for parts on pandemic survival as well.
Please use punctuation.
@@RichardMcLaren It's been really tough these days.
I do love the King of horror😊Thanks so much for taking the time to do this!
This is my first time watching this movie.
@@MissJiggy2U Can say that's a good response though for more insight there's also a comic book version based on the original book and well you really have to look into it yourself.
I read the book as a teen, and every book by Stephen King, so when the movies rolled out, I was impressed by the accuracy. Nice revisit, here, 6 hours straight.
Most of them. They really butchered some of The Bachman books. The Running Man was the worst.
@@chasm351 I agree. I think that it was probably difficult to translate some of his books into movies. Most movies didn't do the books justice. This movie, and Stand By Me (based on The Body) were probably the best.
That's good and really I can wonder about the facility where Captain Trips was made in and wonder about the disaster along with who paid for and signed off on said facility I know it's no Jurassic Park but with something like this you can only wonder what went wrong there or who was looking for said germs like in another work unrelated to King and was in an episode of Batman The Animated Series a soldier asked, "WHO WANTS A CAN OF GERMS?" Now we can answer a whole lot in the world and it's not the people you want to meet.

Dude... The hd is amazing. A totally new experience watching this. It literally raises my critique of the media as a whole by an entire letter grade.
Agreed
The colour contrast and clarity are superb
Must have been good source material
@@ArtVandelayOfficialit was actually a bad quality 1080p 6gb rip. For a 6 hour movie, that makes for about 1gb/hour, which is a bit less than your standard low quality rip.
I would love to source the actual Blu-ray and upscale from that. It would be worlds better than this, if you can believe it.
But considering the source quality, this did turn out amazing. I did fine tune all the settings myself and did tons of test passes to check for artifacts, etc. So this isn't just ran through a preset, I fine tuned everything until it was the best it could squeeze out of the low quality source, without producing artifacts or looking fake/plastic.
@@r0llinlacsThank you for sharing it’s you did a phenomenal job. We’re spending our weekend watching Needful Things, The Stand and The Langoliers, definitely going to tell friends about your channel.✨✨✨
Brilliant, thank you.
Im so excited to find the 1994 version on UA-cam! I subscribed to Paramount + just so I could watch their version in 2020, however, for me there was no comparison even though a lot of it was closer to the book. Stephen King writes characters that I practically mourn for like I’m losing friends when I’ve finished the book. this and the the 1990 tv version of IT made me feel like that.
WOW. I hate the modern world most of the time but this, this is cool. I love that movie, it brings me childhood memories with my mom (she's not dead as of right now, don't worry) and I used to watch this movie sar on her knees when I was probably far too young to watch movies like that.
Memories that interconnect with a slightly older version of me playing Fallout 2 and getting to enjoy the same music that is present in this movie.
Thanks for the astounding work of remastering that obscure b-series classic. You've made me happy. Truly happy.
Hey now hey now dont dream it's over!
Watched this when i was 20 with friends, any time ive heard this song over the last 30 years it reminded me of this master piece, the books where incredible, the movie is amazing, thanks for the upload.
As I watch this, I'm in bed with a cold. I'm facing eviction. This week, a snowstorm's coming from the west. It's all good. No worries. I'll keep the faith. EDIT: after two days dealing with it, this afternoon I think I'm getting better. Yay! "Hey, now, hey now!"
Playing ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ over the opening was a brilliant idea.
Yes it really is and also for the base where Captain Trips got made you can only wonder how much it would cost for a facility along with the signing off on said facility it really must be billions of dollars and the cover would be enormous to keep said a secret.
Needs more cowbell 🤟🏻
@@michaelluccketta5838 That's really something to think about then again for Captain Trips really would be a picnic and merciful compared to other disease out there both fictional and real including this real and ancient one known as Smallpox which lasted till 1980 and was known to cause really nasty effects when it was still around surviving this is even worse or the Bubonic Plague/ Black Death really even more nuts anyway may want to look into that as well and who knows this idea could be a video channel someday along with other ideas on this story.

@@kellychuang8373 Biological warfare never made any sense to me, what with the wind and all that.
Thanks so much for uploading this onto UA-cam. Most Stephen King novels didn't seem to translate very well into movies, probably because it was difficult to make a movie that would do a Stephen King novel justice. That makes this movie especially remarkable, in that it really brought this story to life. There were a few small differences between the characters in the book and the characters in the movie, but overall, it was mostly faithful to the book. Kudos to the creators of this movie, and the actors, and thanks again to you. I'm looking forward to watching this again.
💯.
I think the reason that this series works so well is they didn't try to get too creative with it. They obviously decided the novel was a good framework to work from and they stuck to it. The only changes they made were they ones that were practically not feasible for television, either for content or pacing purposes.
Needful Things was pretty good.
@@CopiousDoinksLLCKing writing the screenplay for this probably helped a lot.
It was partly champions fault.
This mini series had so much heart. The remake was sad awful and lacked heart. I’ve tried watching the remake more than once and it’s awful . The original even down to the music was superb. This is why I’m here
Agreed. I made it through 1 episode of the new version and gave up. Figured I'd give this a go and am pleasantly surprised.
Am not well - detoxing! Very glad to watch this yet again! Quality! Love that Glen's painting scene is back! We all have a mission
I saw this on tv when i was 14....proceeded to buy it when it came out in a 2-pack on VHS a few years after that....(1999 maybe?) LOVE this movie and have seen it multiple times, and soon again :)
this was the first Stephen King book I read waaay back in the 70's. he has been my favorite writer since then. sad to say after seeing his rantings on X he 100% would have headed to Vegas.
This movie is one of my favorite childhood movies! It really evokes some of my most cherished memories. My mother read every Stephen King book made until her unexpected death last year.
I do wish she and grandmother were here to experience this film in such remarkable quality. Before watching the remake, I felt compelled to revisit this classic. I sincerely appreciate the efforts made to enhance the quality of this movie.
I've listened to the audiobook 6 times at this point, and this is my 3rd time watching this. Thank you so much for the upload!
Love this movie. There’s just something special about it.
💯.
Thanks for this, I've always admired King's gift for storytelling. I especially enjoyed his novellas and a few of his novels as well. Never caught this one . . . either in print or on film. It's nice to finally get around to it!
Epic! It took me two days to get through it but well worth it. The quality is superb. Thank you x
This was my introduction to The Stand, and I thought I’d be bored out of my skull because it was so long but I wasn’t. Thanks for this ❤
Wow...thank you so much for all the work you did.
I have to say, this is one of the best movies I've ever watched. And it took my years, will watch again on family night! Thanks so much for uploading this🥰
Thanks so much for uploading this and in such great quality - I'm sure it was no simple task. You're a real one!
Merci. Thank you for the upload and upscale. Appreciate it.
No worries
It takes some special talent to make a movie over 5 hours and make it gripping all the way.
💯.
It was a miniseries back in the day😊
It’s not a movie, it’s a series
Wow, it took two days, but I watched the movie. The book was intense, and so was the movie! Thank you so much for posting this! I love king;
This is my favourite Stephen King book and movie. Thanks for the upload (in super quality too).
That's cool and hopefully we don't have a disaster like this playing out in real life though there was a lot of close calls and not nearly as devastating as this though I could be wrong. anyway may want to search for viruses sneaking out of a lab real interesting stuff and even if you survived the leak it could be worse considering the disease you were working with just look up Smallpox.
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of writing and acting. Very enjoyable. Thank you for posting such a great version of this movie for us to enjoy as well. First time viewing of this classic.
Didn't it get some kind of award for its cringey acting? 😅
Nearly 4 hours into it trying to watch from start to finish like one long movie lol it's so good I remember bits of it from when I was a kid it was scary back then I'm happy I stumbled upon it again all these years later
This is sooo damn good. Incredible acting, camera work, faithful to the amazing writing of King, and just hands down better than any of the shit on Netflix today. 🙏 🙏 Thanks very very much for uploading. Having to watch chapter by chapter, looking forward to "Dreams" tomorrow night!
Nothing like the good old days.
I haven't seen this movie since 1994, thanks for posting!

That's because so far it's 0/10 for King remakes.

Ty for the Movie u rock!- This is on my top 10 favirot movie list huge fan of King.
Oh and yes the picture is Amazingly Clear fantastic Job!
Took me forever to refind this movie/series. I remember it had a crow, a scary tunnel with dead people, and the guy from the show Coach.
Thank you for sharing this.
I guess the real horror is that in reality this could happen to us any day. All the bio-labs worldwide, it's not even the fear of human error but what mankind is willing to do deliberately is what truly frightens me.
Yup and it will end like this
Someone in a tiny Asian country freaks out, and rains nuclear death on Japan. A middle eastern country determines their next door neighbor's interpretation of a holy book is blasphemy, and releases clouds of poison across the border. Or another middle eastern country's biological weapons are found, and sold to another country embroiled in civil war. Then the wind shifts or a missile goes awry, and lands in a huge asian country or a military base in the ocean - and second strikes burn up the Earth. My fears.
Already did, gmo cyborgs are croaking everywhere, all the time thanks to uncle scam and the dee oh dee
Thanks.so.much for uploading this. Perfect quality and something I've been trying to find for a long time. Much appreciated

the first part of the movie sounds awfully familiar!
great job with the quality of the movie! Stephen King is a great classic. reminds me of my grandfather whos passed on but he owned every one of his books! i remember how thick his books are!

You know?
thanks, this is amazing! currently reading my way through King's novels chronologically. I've seen this series back in the day but never read the novel. Always loved the intro credit sequence so much, the free camera while Don't Fear The Reaper is playing, the crow. Who else thought of this flick when COVID first happened?
I was terrified thinking many more people would die. We were lucky.
i did right off, nothing like the military for big mistakes

I thought of covid when I started watching this flick
Almost No one.
When Nick wakes up in the cell, the bird you hear is a screech owl, whose call is a death omen.
Excellent stuff. Thank you so much!
thats insane man, the quality is amazing.. i just cant believe how good it looks. is it hard to ai upscale a movie bc i watch alot of old movies and some would just be amazing too see even if it was half this good.
The film was released in 1080p Bluray in 2019, a few months before covid.. using a HD source really helps a lot, & the usual software is Topaz VEAI. It’s not necessarily hard, though it can take time to do it well. Also, you will need a decent GPU and a lot of HDD storage.. and I mean a lot!
Awesome! Thanks for your hard work!
You’ve done an amazing job on it.
One hour into it and totally hooked.
I must say when Covid broke out and we were being told it was on everything we touched, and then the curfews came and the reports of mass graves I thought the end was nigh, only this time it wasn’t being displayed by some solitary dissolutioned guy walking with a board over his shoulders! It was real!
Now it seems to be less of a problem so we can go back to worrying about some other little irritation such as er… WWIII.
Nice jobfrom the media. Scaring the shit out of people for nothing.

Seems like King liked giving cameos to characters and things from other movies. I watched Riding the Silver Bullet recently and in the scene where main character gets out of the hospital one of his friends steps into the street. Then the car Christine zooms by almost hitting him. I was surprised I never noticed that before.
Love this, thank you for uploading and in amazing quality! I loved the book but remember being disappointed by this series, but watching it again and it looks a lot better after that disastrous remake they did a few years ago. This version looks better by comparison. Thanks again, great to see this again.
Classic, watching this 2024
Great movie and I haven't seen this in almost 30 years. Amazing how the initial plague parts are very similar to the responses people and even the governments had to COVID.
Except the cold in the movie caused a real pandemic. The cold in real life was used to destroy the earth and steal from the weak.
They were trying to show us back then what was coming
exactly....covid is a great example about what we can expect from those in power.
I was in elementary school when I saw this.
Not the best acting and editing..
But damn.
After covid...seeing how little people in power care and how insane every government in the world is. Well fuck.
What's next?
Every government on earth had or had access to sensible planned protocols to handle epidemics. Those who followed them can be seen by reading the statistics . The US, sabotaged by its own president did not.
Crying at the scene where he escapes the hospital, and looks up to the American Flag, reminscing of the country before 9/11 and all that's lost since that time
One of his best books. Better than the movie.
That's how it usually is.
2:00:50
My favorite part is they've been dead a month but their flashers still work, and aren't even dimming.
For you non car people, flashers usually last around 24 hours, maybe a little more before the battery dies.
such a Gem to have this Classic in 4k!
The visual remastering is incredible. Fr
