I decided I would try sell my photos as NFTs and over a 3 month period this is how much I made.
I have two main thoughts which I didn't add to this video...
1, I realise how blessed I am and maybe some others may not sell the same as me.
2, Although I feel like I had a great result selling my photos, there is many others who have sold much more than I have.
I hope you enjoy. This is the first of many NFT / Investing videos I plan to make this year. Be sure to subscribe!

Great video- great presentation style, BUT, When you buy one of your beautiful photos as an NFT, what do you actually receive? Do you mail the new owner a print, or does the buyer actually then own the copyright to the photo? If you could explain some of the sales benefits that would help me make a decision about buying one. Thanks, Wardie
@@WardieWard it depends on the seller. Sometimes they might offer a physical print. But in terms of ownership, that generally stays with the artist. All these terms should be listed in the description too. But if in doubt it’s always good to contact the artist too. That’s one of the beautiful things about it. It can be whatever you choose it to be. Some sell the nft with all rights and ownership and some don’t offer anything but the ownership of the digital nft and nothing else.
@@benmack cool, thanks @wardiesart
@@benmack Rarible looks more art centric. Have tried selling there?
@@WardieWard I haven’t yet. But Rarible is great.
7:53 he actually starts talking about it
Thank you so much Ben for sharing your thoughts and experiences with the world! Helpful and informative! God bless and good luck!
Thanks for this super informative video! Someone got in touch with me to buy my work as nft and I had no idea about this whole block chain and nft universe.
It all sounds so intimidating but you simplified it so beautifully. Thank you!! May you sell a whole lot of nfts! 🍻🍻
You're so welcome!
Same Ive had people contact me asking to sell NFT's of my art. I said no. But I'm as we speak, turning some of my art into NFT's. I like the idea of controlling my art myself.
I want to thank you, This is the best video I have watched yet!
Wow, thank you!
Ben thanks for all the info . Love the straight forward info without any upsale.
My pleasure 🙏🏽
I am encouraged. Thank you, sir. More power.
Glad I could help! 🙏🏽
HI, what was your experience? How much did u got?
I agree with you, there isn't still much content of how to sell artwork as NFT. I would like to see your video of how to get started! Look forward to it!
It's on the radar, I will be producing it in the NY as a few other projects have held me up from making that one.
Thank you. I had a man ask me about purchasing 5 of my landscape photographs on Instragram at 1500.00 each as NFT’s which i know nothing about. I am afraid he is a scammer? Its very confusing.
They could very well be, there’s plenty of them out there. Just remember not to give any of your seed phrases to anyone, or send anyone any money. If they want, they can buy.
Can you put name of this man cause me too this week come to le with the same offre but deferent price, and please how's it going are the deal goes well?
Thats is a scammer trying to get you to get you to be interested in selling NFTs
@@joshuajondaylol
I just had this as well, how could you tell its a scam and someone really wanting to buy?
I truly enjoyed your Video, wonderful and congrats. I am just setting up with Open sea (Step one lol) and yes learning is a big step. Exactly, setting up for artworks, i am grateful for your comments.
You got this!
great video.. I been trying to sell my photos as NFT but I'm scared of the process as I have never done it and it's confusing to me ... thanks for sharing your experience
It might take some time, but stick with it!
Thanks for the content. You’re the first person I’ve watched to admit successfully selling NFTs. I just minted my first collection on OpenSea, but the only reactions I’ve received were from scammers. Is it still worth selling NFTs in 2023 or is it a waste of time? I’d really like to know. Cheers
Wish you success, I wish to have success as well in the world of NFTS..altho i haven’t started Iv been involved with communities and buying. Iv always wanted to be a seller but offer something more then what they purchased. Something tangible, something worth being a part of.
Half way through, I realised, you & I have a similar behinnings regards breaking into the NFT market. 💙
It’s a journey huh!
thanks Ben.. your info is helpful for this old school photographer & art collector looking to re-create once again.. Cheers
Happy to help!
Such an interesting video. I have a good amount of followers on instagram who keep messaging me to sell art as NFT’s but having looked into it I found it so overwhelming I have no idea where to start! Super intimidating
Careful with that. I get about 3 of those requests a day and almost 100% of them are scams. They'll always want you to transfer the NFT in a sketchy way, and when you offer them a legit alternative like Open Sea, they disappear never to be seen again
We learn from each other and it seems like there is small window of initial interest. Like any business there has to be some promotion to keep the nft current. Think of how many nft are minted daily. As an approach, I would say, raise your price ridiculous and sell it in fragments. As long as it's only one token it maintains it's value and is more liquid. People can trade the fragments which will increase the over all value. And mint only 49%. I'm not an expert, just a student.
Great video Ben. Thanks for the advice and have a good day too.
Appreciate that! All the best
Thanks Ben, this was super useful!
Glad to hear it!
I’d be very interested in hearing about your approach to engagement in the twitter/discord communities. I’m only just starting to learn about NFT’s but from what I’m learning, twitter/discord is how the game is played, using influencers and community building strategy, whitelists and all sorts of other things I don’t yet understand 😂
It's definitely a huge part of it. Being an active member of the community and engaging and supporting others is a big part of having your work get eyeballs. But this is also one of the best ways to learn more about the space and really make meaningful connections with people who are like you. I will probably make a video about this in the future too.
Listed my first item hours ago 😮
Good luck!
Hi Ben ,thank you so much for sharing your experience with Nft . I really believe that digital art is a future and I will also sell my artwork as Nft. Many art collectors got in touch with me and asked me to sell my art as nft. Thank you for your great video !!!
This was excellent! Thank you for sharing. I am looking into starting right now.
Excellent video. Thanks Ben.
Thanks Ben,
Awesome video love the info your putting out there. I really look forward to the next instalment and getting some nft’s up myself videos like this really help with that process
✌🏼Mish
Thanks Mish! Appreciate the support. Next one is already in the works!
@@benmack amazing 🙌🏼
Id love to know roughly how much it cost to mint an nft and are there ongoing fees once it minted?
@@mish7441 it depends on the platform and the contract you use (I know sounds complicated), but it depends. It could be as low as $50 and as high as $700+. Ongoing there’s generally no fees.
@@benmack Thankyou, also once you’ve minted your art as an nft you can still sell it in the physical world as prints yeh?
@@mish7441 yep. Those rules are completely up to you.
I get hit up by NFT sellers all the time, I need to figure it all out I could use the financial help
Thanks for sharing this information
My pleasure!
Thanks for sharing your story. I'd love to learn more about how you marketed your NFTS.
Great idea! I think I will combine this with the How to Get started video too
How do we turn Etheruim into dollars?
You sell them on an exchange
Thank you I appreciate the video
No problem 👍
Hi Ben, Thanks for this interesting video - great job. I was looking at your pictures and was wondering what kind of drone equipment you use. Any recommendations? You have some fascinating images out there - for example #22 Moments in Tide - Liquid Textures. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Ralph
Hi Ralph, I use mainly DJI drones and an assortment of them over the years. Currently I'm shooting on the Mavic 3 Cine and the Mini 3. But this could change in the future. Many of my NFTs were shot with the Mavic 2 Pro
Thank you for the video. Quite a competitive thing, NFTs. 😂 Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the analysis! I need some advice: I'm using a SafePal wallet with USDT and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). How can I transfer them to Binance?
I paid the gas, minting but my NFTS are not displaying 😢 lost my money 😢 Can you explain why?
This video is so helpful!
Glad I could help!
obrigado - thanks - muito legal - wonderfull
You have to keep marketing your work. Thx for info
loved this style of video
Should do a video about navigating tax time with crypto? Bc I def don’t know 😅
Haha maybe I’m the wrong guy for that one! 🙈
What platform should I use as a beginner?
Most are good. Probably Opensea is the easiest to work with in the beginning.
@@benmack Ok great! because I had no clue . I draw a lot, so I wanted to see if I could profit from it. Thank you for responding.
Great video thanks for sharing. Question for you, had you ever sold prints of the photos you chose for your nfts? Been wondering how that works with perceived ownership, I guess the digital copy is a separate medium for the photo than the print? Lmk!
No issues with prints. I keep them separate. You can (if you choose to) include rights to print also. That’s the beauty of NFTs, you can write the contracts, set royalties on future sales or anything how you like.
@@benmack think it’s time I give a genesis collection a whirl, thanks for the reply!
I love it😁
Thanks!
I’m curious about marketing these. Regarding those that were on opensea-did you continuing to market these the same as you did with the launch? If not perhaps that’s why it slowed down? What if these were available for a limited time? So there’s a sense of urgency. Then you market each new collection, and take it down after. You can always bring them back like an anniversary series or something.
I’m definitely interested in creating videos of my physical paintings then minting them, but I’m still listening and learning-so I don’t know the rules to putting up and then taking down-however, I do know selling and whenever something is limited and in a limited time, people respond with more emotion and make purchase.
All these are great suggestions! It's definitely worth putting in the time to understand the space and learn how it all works, the better you understand the better decisions you'll make
Hi, is this still working a year after you posted this video?
wow
Now that 1 ETH is worth so little, how did you modify - if so - your prices? 2.2 ETH is absolutely cheap when you consider the market now
12:30 but if Ethereum itself goes up...this becomes "double stream"
Hi Ben. The info you share with your experience has been very useful for me. I’m currently preparing to present my first NFT collection, and I wanted to know, since your first collection was deployed on ethereum, did you have to pay the gas fees for each of your photos? Or did you use the lazy minting? Gas fees on eth are so expensive, and I’m afraid that lazy minting could discourage a prospective collector. Do you think Polygon it’s actually an option for a first collection’? Thank you 😊
Gas is way cheaper now than it was a year or so ago! But in saying that, ETH is where the buyers are atm. Polygon is more for other types of NFTs and I personally don't know of any artists making significant waves on there at this time.
@Official AnnYusra Coinbase is an exchange where you can buy crypto currency, right? so, what's te difference between Coinbase and others like Nexo, or Binance?
Just a couple of days ago I got a DM on my Instagram from some unknown person asking to purchase my photography as NFT. He was interested in 4 photographs and offered $8,700 for each. I am afraid whether it's real or some kind of scam. He asked me to register my profile to some of the NFT platform then set up a metamask wallet so that he can transfer the money. Can you please guide me what should I do?
Out of curiosity, did you ever get an answer to you question/comment? I just had someone (about 5 people) do the same to me and I'm looking everywhere I can to make sure I ask the right questions to the right people. 😅
@@IMGO92 I didn't get any answer from anyone but eventually I blocked that person as I didn't want to take any risk !!
Hi Ben. Great video. I sell prints of my landscape photos. If I sell the image as an NFT, will I have any rights to it? Can I still sell prints of it?
Hi, thanks for your great video but, how much did it cost you to start on opensea and how do you get paid transferred to your bank? I'm confused with that! How much do I pay to start with?
You'll need a small amount of funds to pay the gas fees to list on Opensea. But this shouldn't be too much. You could probably get away with $50-100 to be safe
@@benmack How are funds transferred to bank accounts?
Just curious but do you have any utilities to go with your NFTs?
I offer a free print with some of my NFTs, but I'm open to all sorts of different utilities. I think this is where NFTs can really become unique and long term useful
@@benmack Were you shipping that print or only digital download?
I have a few pieces I wouldn’t mind selling/renting either. But I wonder if it’d do any good, if my business is now defunct.
Thank you for the explanation! Can I just transfer the money from Open Sea to my paypal?
not to bad mate
Cheers!
How much does it cost to mint a photo on opensea?
Hen YOU sell an NFT of YOUR art, is it still yours to sell, or say put on the cover of your book... Or does copyright & royalty transfer to the buyer...
I know so much more now
How to solve insufficient ERC-20 token on the seller account
No idea
The block chain that is so highly touted is flawed. Easily manipulated by super fast computers to where the people running those computers will always yield a payout.
Someone want to buy my photos for etherum nfts 😊20k how do I make that? Never did that before or it’s scam?
Thanks for this video... Question, if I find a picture I liked on the web, I decided to paint it show it on the net ans this guy comes and wants to buy it.... What happens then I did what he wants to buy but the source is taken buy a photographer... Who owns this painting in the end of the day?
Hi Ben question to be clear when you say you have sold 21 images for about AUD$15 000 how much money did you actually get in your bank account as I don't understand this whole NFT thing yet and how many editions do you sell as a NFT is it just the original... and can you still sell actual prints of the same image that you've sold as a NFT thx much appreciate the video and any reply
Brother when are you dropping the next video?
I've been meaning to do one. The bear market has cooled everything a little recently but it's definitely up there with a video I want to do.
Greetings sir!
Love your content♥️
Sir i am an artist like i do photography video editing kinda stuff. In short i just tried AI art and mad an Instagram account for it and there i got a number of people who wanna buy my art as NFT but i am very new in all this. Kindly guide how can i sell them what is the procedure and is there some fee of it or not? I wanna know everything.
Thankyou♥️
Hopefully I'll make another video for you soon
DO you have foundation invitation?
I get weekly requests from people around the world asking to buy multiple amounts of my art as NFTs. I have just ignored these messages as I thought it was a scam or something...and I wouldn't even know how to do it. I told one guy today that I am looking into it, and he's now offered to pay even more than his 1st offer. To me, this is all just a mystery.. so I will need to start finding out how to sell my art as NFTs. Does it cost a fortune to set it up?
Hi Ben! Thank you for sharing all these experiences. I want to ask do you think it will be ok to sell that nft that you have on your book cover? Also I want to know if i sell my art after minting as nft ...Can i keep the painting ? or show it at exhibition etc....
When it comes to selling NFTs or anything that is your own creation, to be fair, the rules are yours. You decide what you sell and what you keep.
@benmack That makes sense. 😊 Thanks for replying .
Hi , sooo I am a graphics designer. I already have my own website /socials , should I make a seperate account to market my NFTs ... but I already have a following on my other accounts. It would kind of suck to start from square one again . Any recommendations ?
Selling NFTs is as much about marketing and branding yourself as it is about selling great art. I would personally stick with your established account. But if it doesn't align to the art you're creating, you might want to start fresh.
How do you convert the sales to real money that you can pay bills with.
So, you have a collection. How many pictures do you put for every collection?
As many as you like. 1 or 10,000. It's up to you
How much does it cost to start out on open sea if you already got artwork ready to sell?
It's not a lot, it's basically transaction fee's to get to started. But you'll need ETH to begin with. I'd say about $50-100 should be plenty.
Thanks for the video.. can you tell me anything about selling historical NFT's from my show?
I have no idea. But I guess it would be the same as selling any other NFT
@@benmackThanks for the reply... it just seems that most people are just trying to get a fast buck, and although the money is nice, I really want to educate people about the real history of online video with my show. I use opensea but there is nothing else really like what I do there. I wasn't sure how to proceed. Suggestions appreciated.
So if I gave you a picture and you made an NFT out of it.
How much do you want for it ?
The work ?
I am intressted to know..
I’m not even sure I understand what you’re asking.
@@benmack Maybe he's trying to ask about your onboarding process. I'm interested in that too.

so if you sell these pictures as nft, then the buyer owns them fully and can use them in videos, ads for anything they want to advertise or political ads or whatever they choose?
Only if you choose to give away those rights. Otherwise, you still own everything.
@@benmack if you dont sell the rights to use the picture, then why would anyone ever buy it
@@spacecatboy2962 because they still want to own the digital artwork. But some people do give up the rights. It’s the beauty of the smart contracts they are attached to NFTs, you can do whatever you want to do.
@@benmack so the nft could be a picture i took of a barn when i 8 years old?
@@spacecatboy2962 Sure, why not.
7:30 or it could be a scammer posing as an art collector.
True. But if the scammers are paying, then it really doesn't matter. Just don't fall into any scam traps. You should NEVER have to pay someone after you've listed an NFT.
You need to put a lot of hours and work into it to make any money with NFT with your own art. Getting a job at a local burger chain and buying lottery tickets gives you a bigger chance to get a regular income and become millionaire. In other words: It is a scam! -- To make any real money you'd have to buy NFTs that are already valuable and sell them on. But I guess a visit to a casino is more fun and gives you the same chance to get rich...
Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. If you're active in the community and your work is truly great, it will find a home. I think by buying already valuable NFTs you need them to grow so much exponentially more - then you might be playing a bit of a lotto game. Selling your art is not a scam. People who don't sell, either aren't great at building a community, or don't really have art that people appreciate.
@@benmack does your photo NFT include the original, physical copy? Or are you just selling digital format for 1-3 eth? Your art looks nice but I'm sick of seeing NFT projects with a bunch of jargon and very little value.
@@pt2038 I offer a physical print with the NFT but it does not include the rights to the image. The NFT and the rights to the image are separated. But the beauty of smart contracts is you can choose exactly what you want to include and what you exclude
@@benmack ya sounds beautiful for the seller. Buyer gets an A4 print and a smart contract to what exactly? Also, does an A4 print sell for the same as the NFT? Not trying to be rude but I don't understand why a smart contract via NFT matters when the NFT only guarantees a physical copy that you could just buy separate, without buying the NFT.
@@pt2038 the print is just a value add. The NFT is a 1 of 1 exclusive. They own the only edition for that artwork. I’m not selling rights to the art. This belongs to me. Some other may choose to include this in their contracts though. Value can come in all sorts of ways, and sometimes none at all. Depending on the seller. Maybe for you it may feel like this stacks for the seller. But you also need to look at the buyers perspective. They love the artist, they love their work. They want to be an owner of one of their artworks - they might see investment.
I started my crypto life right here
