    How to Prime the Fuel Pump
    1. Hold down 🆗 (OK), then push the 🔽 (down arrow)
    2. You’ll see ‘H OF’ flashing on the screen
    3. Push the 🔼 (up arrow)
    4. Now you’ll see ‘H ON’ flashing on the screen
    5. You should hear the pump start ticking underneath the van
    6. Keep priming until the fuel makes it all the way to the diesel heater unit (you can check by having a look at the fuel in the fuel line). You may need to keep turning on the ‘Prime Cycle’ via the monitor as some units will automatically stop priming after 60 seconds.
    Hope this helps. Cheers.

    Awesome Chillie! Did you have to modify the length of the auxillary pick up that went inside the tank, or is it already designed not to be able to pull too much out from the tank? (so you don't completely empty it).

    • @ChilliesWorld
      @ChilliesWorld  2 роки тому

      Yes, correct. It is designed with a little stopper to prevent it from going all the way to the bottom of the tank. No need to modify it. That way you still have fuel to drive to a gas station if your heater runs out of diesel. Not sure how many gallons would be left if that happened.

    Two facts. It "is" the 21st century that we live in! Ford is one of the largest vechile manufacturers in the world!
    Honestly, I cannot believe that we have do all this shit just so we can suck some diesel outta the tank!!!!! 🥵
    Thanks for a informative video!

    Hi, great video about the connection to the tank, thank you. I have a question, where can I get that tube / needle for the tank and what exactly is it marked?

    There is a way to manually prime the heater by running just the fuel pump until it's all filled with fuel.

    Does the fuel tank pipe come with the connector ?

    • @ChilliesWorld
      @ChilliesWorld  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes it comes with the connector that clips onto the top of your fuel tank. The auxiliary fuel straw is permanently connected to this clip

    Theres a bit where you are working blind, but you have a camera up there... You could maybe use your mobile up there as a camera, and Zoom call to another mobile so you can see what its seeing (or video out from a camera to a small monitor. maybe) Might help.

    Fuel line looks a bit close to the exhaust pipe. May get a tad warm and melt.......

      Thanks for the observation. No problems after 2 years. I do check every few months to make sure everything is still ok.

    P.S. I'm not going to go down this route. I think I will buy a plastic auxiliary fuel tank rather than deal with this nightmare!

  • @nglyo
    @nglyo 2 роки тому +1

    Looks like a nightmare, but I guess worth the trouble to spend an entire day or two on it vs the alternative of paying $1000+ to have it installed at a mech.

      It was totally worth the effort. I’m still shocked at how much a shop would charge to install one. This was my first time. I could definitely do it in a half a day now that I know what to do.
