Watch a full tutorial as a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will have a brand new Pioneer 5 channel amplifier installed. We will be using the Pioneer GM-D9605 5 channel amplifier, installed under the passenger front seat.
This video applies to Chevy / Chevrolet Malibu models for years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Note the 2014 - 2015 models have a different dash design, however, the technique for installing is the same. This video also includes radio removal, wiring, installation, and testing.

*Note - This Malibu was not equipped with any factory amplifier, which is why we were able to pull signal right from the radio. If you have the factory amplifier or the Bose factory sound system, your amplifier will be located in the trick passenger side behind the carpet wall. This will need to be bypassed if you are planning on amplifying the door / dash speakers. We will link those special harnesses in the parts list below.

I’m a lil concerned with the positioning of ur amp. During winter when u run ur heater, does it affect ur amp as the amp is sitting directly in from of the vents? Summer time I know that’d be awesome cooling. Now my qstn is how is it holding with the heat on or it really doesn’t matter & ur amp fan does it’s job cooling it? Please let me know!! & thanks for this great video

Where did you install your amp ?
@@Keepthefaith116 I installed it into my stereo by taking my cars interior off to access the stereos electronics to connect it, then I routed it from the stereo to my battery for power, lined the wires under the side panels and interior on the right side of car through the glove box since it was connected to the stereo I could route it all the way to the amp connected to the subs in my trunk. Hope this helps and makes sense!

This will not work at 2019... Please edit title as it's misleading... Also did you retain Bluetooth? And if so what did you do to lower volume for door chimes, seatbelt etc as they run through the speakers

What about the Active noise cancelling? Did you cut the purple wire on the factory amp? Use a bypass harness? I'm wondering.
Still to this day I haven't seen anyone do it installation on a Impala 2014 to 2018 I wonder why I would like to see if 5 channel amp me and installed I have one and I have the car as well but I keep hearing skepticism about the door chimes interfering with the sound quality of being Amplified the door chimes could sounds like a siren if it's Amplified I wonder is this the case or was it a simple easy install with this Malibu cuz it's got the same features as the Impala

I can’t find the speaker wires coming from the factory amp is where I’m trying to tap into I found blue with black stripe green with black stripe but no white and no plain green wire

Can't find where to connect the remote wire (the blue one on the amp) I've tried several slots in the fuse box and they work but when the car shuts off during the AutoShutOff, the power goes out until it kicks back on. Any special accessory slot that will prevent this from turning off my amp?

Where would I install the tweeters in the front. This cars not like min I cant just cut the grille off the original tweeter hole and drop it in along with a new trim ring around it

So I'm looking to do a similar setup in my base model 2017 malibu, just with a smaller amp and sub. My question is, if I hook up the sub and amp the way you did, how do you control the bass volume? Just through the stereo and it will control the cabin speakers as well as the sub? Or is there a knob on the amp to turn? Or is there a remote knob that I can install to control the volume of this aftermarket setup? I apologize for having so many questions but I just want to get this set up right and correctly so that way nothing goes wrong with my car. Great job by the way!

My buddy is good with stereo stuff but I’m not but I just want to make sure I get all the right stuff so he can show me how to hook up to the factory unit because I don’t want to replace the whole head unit

You did an up grade on a 2016 malibe.I have a 2020 Malibu. I am putting in new tweeters 6.5 in all four doors. 6.9 in the rear deck. I have one digital audio subwoofer.

HEY GUYS ... I have been watching your videos here for a few weeks I have a 2017 chevy malibu LT . I have been having a hell of a time hooking my door speakers from SKAR Audio 6.5" TX 65 4 door speakers. and 8 " sundown audio sub woofer. I also have 2 amplifiers
1) Amp is for my 8" subwoofer. The 2nd) Amp I wanted to use for my door speakers the Amps are MB Quart the one for my door speakers is the onx 4.60 - 4 x 60 watts am I able to hook all this up to my factory head unit with a line out converter?

What color was the remote turn on for the Malibu
when I also try to have the bass higher, it like cuts off my subwoofer to when I’m driving and when I press my break it like cuts it off for a bit, why is that , I have to use it on L6 which turns my Malibu Chevy 2018 LT to automatic and shuts off the auto stop to prevent my 12” kicker from cutting off when I drive it on regular drive, cuz my car has auto stop, so even when I drive it on L6 , the auto stop is off, but when I press my brake at a stop it still cuts off only when I have a high bass.

What did you do for the drone? I have a 2023 and when I tapped into the speaker wire and used an LC2i I get a drone noise when I accelerate and let off the gas. Same ground and power points you used.
Disable ANC by cutting the lead to the mic in the headliner above the passenger front seat.

The power is the red and purple and the ground of course is the black on the same plug correct?
Kayte Skayte yep, the power and ground will be on the very left of the plug, then basically goes in order (LF+-,RR+-, etc.).

Nope, it didn't have the factory amplified version. In your case, if you were to bypass the factory radio, you will connect the new amps outputs the the factory radio's speaker outputs which go directly to the speakers. Really, its wiring what we did in the video, but at the factory amp location.

Yes. I have my setup connected to the factory amp.

How you tune the amp with a seat over it ?
We tune it before we reinstall the seat.
I installed a system into my Malibu 2018 but when I accelerate my bass goes loud and when I slow down does the same thing would you know why??
you may have fake engine noise pumped into your system or you have a really bad ground loop issue.
When you go in your settings, did you press the audio, auto volume, and turn it off? My girl had a Ford that turned the music up the faster you drive.
Does the car have auto stop/ start?

Hope any one can help..Im Having the humming sound from my subs since installion. When I first start my vehicle the subs hum and when I accelerate on the gas pedal it hums..Why does the speaker do this and what can I do to fix the issue.
It’s your ANC mics you need to disconnect your ANC system.

You can get a bypass harness from lj’s customs that way you don’t void your warranty
For those of us with the 9 speaker bose system I found that this system is so on equal on sound quality. And what I mean by that is, when you play music through XM Radio it sounds just ok, but when you play songs on your USB its better but the highs struggle. Now when you play songs from You Tube it sounds awesome it just seems to me this sound system either needs far more cleaner signal that You Tube seems to provide. Any opinions?

You need to disconnect the ANC, that's the noice canceling feature.
It's the purple wire on the top plug of the factory amplifier located in the passenger side trunk wall.

Do you sell the t adapter instead of splicing everything?
Use a T harness instead like the AX-DSP-GMLAN

This Malibu didn’t have an amp. If you do you will need to bypass it if planning on powering your interior speakers with something aftermarket.

Just search in-line fuse in amazon.
That method doesn’t work on my 21 with the 8in screen.
The factory non Bose amp is next to the grommet you routed the power cable in 2021 IOR production code
I thought the leads would be gotten from the amp in the rear trunk
so are the red and black wires, i assume those are the power cord and the ground for the radio that you spliced into the harness so the radio gets power right?

If you have the factory amp, do it. cleaner install.
@@ProvoBeastAudio The factory amp has a plug for speaker wire, thinner gauge wires are from the radio module to the factory amp while the thicker gauge wires go from the factory amp to the speakers. All the speaker wires high level input and speaker output on the green connector on the factory amp. Which wires do I tap into the thinner that go to the amp or thicker wires from the stock amp to the speakers? Please let me know, thanks.

@@mikeadams5414 that was ages ago basically I pulled a plug diagram showing me what was the power the negative the ends the outs all that and I ran them into my own harness to power up the amp that I put in I don't have any of that information anymore I've sold the car already

The back of the 2020 does not have any of these same wires in the back of it

Is anyone having any issues with the radio reception after this install??? If so has anyone found a fix for what ever is interfering with the signal? Any suggestions are welcomed....
What issues did you have?. My android auto turns off then I think the noise cancelation interferes.
