Thank you very much for this overview. Waiting for the Force myself which is somehow stuck at DHL. So this helps me to virtually shorten the waiting time. Keep on the good stuff. I am looking forward to new tutorials from you.
Great video! I was looking for one like this when I was deciding whether to buy a Force as well. The mysterious Mod is, I’m pretty sure, a stereo chorus. I’m just basing that on what my ears tell me plus the fact that’s in one of the FX tabs and doesn’t seem to have an assignable destination. You had the distortion turned off on the tabs on the right while you were playing with it which is why it wasn’t having any effect on the sound. That trips me up once in a while too.
@@avrilcadabra It’s also possible that Mod changes from preset to preset, like the LFO beside it does. Like sometimes I find the LFO is patched to filter cutoff, sometimes pitch. I might have stumbled on a few others but those are pretty common. Possible the Mod might be a chorus sometimes and a phaser or flanger on other presets. I haven’t tested enough to know. I like the macro approach in Hype because you can dial in sounds very quickly. But I do wish it had more tabs of parameters available for those who are feeling adventurous with synth programming.
Mpc one does look very impressive I was going to buy one earlier in the year but they were hard to get hold of so got the digitakt. I am just starting to get the hang of the force after a couple of weeks and there are still many sections in the menu button I have yet to adventure into it. On the bright side mpc information is a lot easier to find than the force. Look forward to your videos on it!
@@avrilcadabra From my understanding, the Force is superiour to the "One", as it comes with more synths and more features. But I like the form factor of the one better (though it's still huge compared to the Digitone for example). What I've seen so far while trying to understand the basics made me very happy, though, especially the keygroups feature.
Yeah the arranger and hype synth , clip mode are all extra features on the force. Though there are lots of rumours of upcoming updates for mpc. Have seen pics of fm synth plugins etc and I think the arranger is coming. Tubesynth is still pretty good though. More modulation and routing options than hype. Look into envelope followers. So strong
Not tested this myself but apparantly 4 to 8 voices per instance of hype. Depends on then oscillator type you choose. Analogue + Analogue being 8 voices. Wavetables being 4
I think that's a fair comparison. Can do quite similar sounds as what you'd expect from a roland pcm engine. Unless you are specifically after some of the older roland sounds on the older sound modules. Hype does super saws. Electric pianos and string and brass pads in a similar way. They are sample based oscillators and you can mix two (not 4 like some rolands) per voice
mind you: when you tried demoing the distortion, there was no effect audible. you forgot to turn the module on. either hit the tab on the right or the little blueish circle in the top right corner of the module ... i was wondering why you glossed over that with clearly no distortion audible ;-) anyways: good overview, thanks!
Does this integrate with ableton pretty easy? Thinking about returning the push 2 and getting this instead since its standalone and I can't get push 2 to work with some plug-ins like I would prefer.
I've yet to try it with ableton, I initially assumed it work like push but have heard people say it only works for launching clips and not fully integrated, can't find any solid info so will have to try it myself. I am not an experienced ableton user so probably not the best person for the job. it can apparently export and import ableton projects (obviously samples and midi only), has ableton link and controls ableton over wifi (assume it does via usb also)
Had to have a chuckle when you didn't turn the distortion on, have done that with reverb and delays plenty of times. Did it with the delay on one of my tutorials then had the lightbulb moment and realized why nothing was happening. Lol!!! Nice overview. Does your past self thank your future self for the info? :) I don't mind the Hype synth just wish there was a deeper editing mode available for it. Would love if they ported Hybrid 3 across to the Force.
I was looking at the maschine+ though no one had stock here even months after release. Would have to buy one to know if it would be better a choice or not. The distortions themselves are pretty so so. Might message you on Facebook and have a chat about the force.
I forgot to toggle on distortion. So that's why that function is not doing anything!
A good day to return to this video :-)
whaaaat are they adding to MPC or did you buy a Force?
@@avrilcadabra MPC just received a _massive_ update with 4 new synths (hype, mellotron, solina, odyssey), multiple effects and more...
Yep I seen now. They keep beta testers compartmentalised. NDA's enjoy to new stuff!
Man!!!!!Ive had Hype on my MPC one for awhile but you have made me fall inlove with it,the sound design options are great. Thanks for this video
You, and your past self, are both gentlemen and scholars. Thank you!

Thanks you were the perfect person to see the video then. I love it. so much you can do with it

Good call on the distortion, Might well be chorus usually you can really turn up a chorus or phaser etc this ones just so subtle

@@avrilcadabra it's definitely a chorus/phaser type thing, a general mod effect
Yep, I definetly need one! Excellent demo, Av! :)
Ill do this for other synths in it too.
@@avrilcadabra sweet! :)
Cool! Your videos made me sell some stuff and buy the MPC One instead. So far, I'm quite impressed (and a bit overwelmed). :-)

Very nice in depth review! Does Hype have a limited polyphony like Tube?

@@avrilcadabra thanks a lot. Couldn’t find the info everywhere. That was super helpful.
How are the bread and butter sounds in Hype? Can it replace a Roland PCM based device?

Can you import own wavetables?
No sadly not

Thanks Leo. Joe pointed that also. Cannot fix now sadly

Can you initialize the preset? I mean just start off with a basic saw wave and work from there?
there are several INIT starting points, if you pick one that does saw waves then yes indeed

😩😞😭 I want it for the MPC one so badly!!!
Hopefully it will find it's way to the mpc :)
Your prayers have been answered. MPC 2.10!
Go get it now
All the sounds are useful and the basses are fat.
hype was overhyped
Yeah it could use some love.
Hi sweetie so you know, I’m suspended on fb til Xmas that’s why I don’t talk in group atm
