When I pour vases, I pour just like you only I start around the edges as not to waste. Then I smooth the bottom out just to cover. No one will see the bottom. Love your work.
These are gorgeous...it is hard to pick just one, but I think I am like you and would pick the last one if I had to choose! Beautiful! I have never tried vases, but have always wanted to do so! Great colors!!
Both vases are pretty, the second one is my favorite 😍 I enjoy watching the rings of paint slide down too. Then the 3rd one, a mix of both is really nice too.
I have never done a pour, but it seems to me that if you put a canvas under the vase, you could make a pour from the drips too...I'd try it if I ever get the opportunity. Blessings!
These are all very beautiful, Anna. I like them all. I just poured over a vase that was painted. Since it had been dry a long time I thought it would be okay. But what happened was the paint underneath lifted in some places and left ridges that traveled in all directions and it looked really neat, and dried nicely too. Especially since the colors were similar, it added something. Don't know if it will happen again that way but I'd like to try. By the way, Artist Loft Metallic Cobalt Blue is a gorgeous color on a vase.
Anna, For many years I was told you had to use a glass sealer before painting on glass. Do you coat your vase first. I loved all the paintings. If unsealed will the paint last on the vases. Regards Glenis.
Hi Glenis, I haven’t heard about glass sealer but I haven’t done tons of research into it. That’s probably smart if you’re wanting to make something really durable, but my vases have been fine with gentle use and hand washing!
Very pretty, love the third vase, it's a lovely combination of colors. Apple Barrel pouring medium... is it quite thick? If so, is it thicker than liquitex pouring medium?
Thank you! No it’s quite thin, but somehow the colors hold their shape better on a vertical surface. It is much cheaper than liquitex so that’s another plus 😉
Have you tried Liquitex Flow Aid? It comes in 4 oz bottles and is mixed 1:20, Flow Aid to Water. Misting the canvas with this makes the paint flow without rolling over itself. Wondering if misting the vase prior to pouring would prevent the gaps that we are see😢.ing
Thank you! Here’s how I do it: HOW To Mix Paint For Pouring On Vases ~ Mixing Paint With Apple Barrel Pouring Medium ua-cam.com/video/Up0gp4cq278/v-deo.html
Hope I can ask your advice on paint thickness. I use floetrol and decoart 3:1 /water for consistency for mixing. BUT I literally have never had distinctive colored layers as you get. Now Im good on a flat canvas but pouring over glass just messes me up. Would you say the density on glass is thicker then canvas alone? Trying to find an answer. These pieces are stunning! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you! Vertical pours are much trickier. Try mixing your paints with apple barrel pouring medium (NO water or floetrol) and you might have better luck!
@@ohcheap1 I don’t have a set ratio, I just add the Apple Barrel PM to the paint until it flows nicely. If you look at the vases playlist on my channel, you’ll see a video on how I mix paint for it!
I would love to do some of stuff I've seen some pretty neat things on some of these arts and crafts channels but unfortunately i live in a apartment complex and not every good ventilation so i guess I'll just have to watch instead
@@AnnaBlountArt Well, tommorrow I am going to buy one from the dollar tree and pour it. When it is done, I will light the candle and let you know how it holds up.
Hm, interesting question. Possibly too thick. It doesn’t have silicone oil in it, does it? Or it’s possible that your paint colors are mixed to different consistencies.
It looks to me (someone who has not yet done this) that the 2nd pour covers up the first pour to the extent that it seems somewhat superfluous. What if you just poured white on the first pour to grease the rails and save the colored paint?
If you paint on the inside of the vase, you won’t be able to fill it with water or the paint will peel off. I bet you could put stickers over top, though!
Well it depends on the look you’re going for. If you want really clean, bold layers, then a split cup might be better for you. I like both the clean beginning of the cup and the more blended end of the cup. Also if your paint is too thin, the colors will blend more.
Thanks for sharing! The colors are gorgeous ❤
Thanks! 😊
Ils sont tous très beaux !
Merci beaucoup!
Love the additional one! Actually, all of them ❤
Thank you!
When I pour vases, I pour just like you only I start around the edges as not to waste. Then I smooth the bottom out just to cover. No one will see the bottom. Love your work.

Gorgeous!!!
Thanks! Yes there are different ways to get it all covered…
@@elizebethdillard7877 I was just thinking th same thing. Now, if there was just way to freeze the flow the moment you see that perfect pattern.
Well darn it!! I didn’t get the notification. I will watch here in a bit. I know it will be amazing Anna!!!
Sorry! I must have put it up a bit late. Thank you!
Anna these turned out absolutely stunning!!! The 3rd one is my favorite!!!….but I love them ALL!!!
Thanks a bunch!
Love all three of them! I just started pouring on vases. I usually have a canvass under the vase for a painting. Some really pretty ones.
Thanks!
The last one is my favorite. I love ❤ the rich color combo.
Thank you Andrea! Yes the two color groups blending is just 😍
Thank you very much. I typically use the separated cups with 3-5 openings. I’m a beginner in all art projects.
I don’t usually use a split cup for vases because I like the blend, but you can always give it a go!

Anna, those are beautiful! It makes me want to try it! I love ❤️ the third one too!
Thank you so much! You should definitely try it, it’s so fun!
Can’t pick just one, I think all three are stunning. It didn’t look too hard so I might give this a try. Thank you for sharing lthis with us

Thanks Martha! You have to try it, it’s so fun!
Both are beautiful
Thank you Maurice!
I have painted 5 vases. I am amazed at how gorgeous they are. Not perfect but pretty all the same.
I’m so glad!
These are so pretty that I think I'd put a conical glass in for flowers and water, and in between I'd add a light source.
Oh that’s a cool idea!
Really fantastic, your tuition give s me more innovation, GOD bless you.
Karachi, Pakistan.

The green one looks very much like malachite, the gemstone.
Yes it does!
I love it 😃

Yes a lot of people do that, but I personally never care for the designs that come from vase drippings. So I focus on just making a nice vase!
@@AnnaBlountArt True, you might not care for it, but if you sell your art, you may discover that customers do. Just a thought, Blessings!
I have never done a paint pour of any kind I am going to do it on the vase
Cool! Good luck! I’d recommend Apple Barrel pouring medium for sure.
I found that after burning the candle for 3 days, it didn't affect the paint and it's integrity at all. So that is good!
Great!
Very nice
Thank you!
All three of these faces are beautiful 🤩

I haven’t tried that. Misting the vase might help stuff flow, but I don’t know how else things would react…
❤
Awesome work. Very beautiful. Can you use a lighter if you don’t have a torch?
Thank you! Yes probably, especially if it’s a torch-style lighter. The standard stick lighters might be hard to get a good angle…

It’s Apple barrel pouring medium, specifically. You can also use AB paints but you don’t have to.
It is sold at Walmart!

How do you keep the lip of the vase neat and clean?
I use a razor blade to trim the drips once the paint is dry!
How? 😎
@ Thanks!!
Can you do acrylic painting pour to a glass candle cylinder with the candle in it (like at the $tree) and will the paint hold up to the candles' heat?
Great idea! Yes, I think so, though the heat may temporarily make the paint on the side a bit soft.
@@AnnaBlountArt Well, tommorrow I am going to buy one from the dollar tree and pour it. When it is done, I will light the candle and let you know how it holds up.

beautiful but keeps me wondering how to maitain the colors whenbyou need to dust or clean without causing any damage to it
I have a video on how to put a glossy finish on the vases!
Do u put anything on the vase before u pour
No I don’t!
Can this be done on the inside of a vase? Or can stickers be placed over the paint?
If you paint on the inside of the vase, you won’t be able to fill it with water or the paint will peel off. I bet you could put stickers over top, though!
How do I stop the last half of the cup to be murky when I finish the pour?
Well it depends on the look you’re going for. If you want really clean, bold layers, then a split cup might be better for you. I like both the clean beginning of the cup and the more blended end of the cup. Also if your paint is too thin, the colors will blend more.
I don't know how to get started. I have an acrylic vase that is a beautiful burgandy, but I want to change it to a toupe/cream
Look at my vases playlist, I have a video on how to mix paint for a vase pour and also how to finish a painted vase!
Can you use acrylic paint on ceramic to make a design ? The item is in raw form. And then can it be fired or sprayed.
That’s a great question, but I really have no idea!
I need the colors of the last
what size is the cup you use to put the paint? 6 oz, 9 oz...
Just a 3oz paper cup!
