      Indeed carving with dry wood generally involves a different process and i'm confident you'll find carving with greenwood a more njoyale process, let alone be easier on your tools! ~Peace~

    Absolutely incredible video, as usual very informative. Thank you for sharing this with us! I was surprised to hear him say he knocks on or taps the wood to hear the sound difference in regards to drying, as I too do this. Very great video!

    I love to see a UK based bowl carver using tools inspired by the bent knives used by the Pacific Northwest of America native carvers such as the kestrel tools bent knife and the internal bevel hook knife. It would be great to see those tools being used to their full potential though. They are wonderfully useful and can be used in so many different ways that are largely ignored by European style carvers. Great video by the way.

    • @Zedoutdoors
      @Zedoutdoors  Рік тому

      Hi Trevor, indeed there's lots to be learnt by traditional carvers in the US, alas we dont have enough exposure to it on these shores to make that feasable. Social media is slowly change that though bit by bit ~Peace~

    33.00 adze work - good video - you could always try rehandling the adze with a back sweep which will clear your swing at the back and give a bit more rotation or swing, and it will bring the edge onto the wood at a different and more easily variable presentation might work with that make of adze it worked with mine, pretty easy eye to fit to as well,
    Anyway pretty good stuff

      @@Zedoutdoors hello Zed hope all is well, that would be interesting to see more adze videos, ive used them for a few years, pretty useful! I’ve followed your channel for a time now, the kuksa ones in particular are the most interesting but there’s an epic one building a shave horse which I doff my woolly hat to you for producing , inspired me to make one myself which was terrible, but fundamentally works 🧐
      All of your videos have fascinating content and are well useful every one has some kind of new or different technique or tips so pretty impressive, and the techniques are all definite practiced skill sets or seem that way, which is of far better value for learning than the average bushcraft youtube video, as the attention to detail in tool usage and safety is necessarily involved as you probably know , all mindful stuff, of which I need more practice !
      Nice one hope to see more 👍🏼
