      The Wooded Beardsman im looking for a specific video but i cant find it. you were fishing for trout i believe (though they were small, you had gotten about 9 or more) and your friend said about a plant that helps with poison ivy, rubbed into a paste very easily could you link the video or tell me what that plant was?

      The Wooded Beardsman I know I’m commenting late but just started watching the show. Great might I add and I like all the new content your putting out. Will there be a season 3 survival challenge? And also are remote lakes like these just much more densely populated and that’s the reason you guys seem to have such luck with the fish?

      not sure if it's the same plant they referenced but I live in ontario as well. I have battled poison ivy many times, some very serious. the plant called plantain grows virtually everywhere. I struggled one year to get rid of the ivy and a knowledgeable person told me of it. I made it into a paste with water by chopping it up and rubbing it on affected areas. it was amazing. I tell everyone about it. natives would call it white man's foot because when the Europeans came here in the 1600s they brought it and it followed their path. Pretty cool plant that grows in almost anyone's backyard!

    Around my area, the turtles would’ve eaten the carcass in the water

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  7 років тому +2

      We were sort of lucky there, but an educated guess said that since it was trout water, it was more than likely cool enough to be less inviting to turtle. In a pike or walleye lake, for sure it would have been gone, but this lake is cold and clear so not suitable for turtle - it seems.

  • @luciusapuleius7933
    @luciusapuleius7933 7 років тому +11

    Dear Chris!
    It's a travesty that you don't have millions of views, because your channel is on par (if not better) than deermeatfordinner and the like.
    It would be a dream fulfilled to go on an adventure with yourself and Jeremy one day.
    I've been telling all of my friends about you, but I wish there was some way that I could help grow your channel more.
    I know that UA-cam has been taking some really strange '1984' style stance on hunting and the like as of late, but I really hope that what you do has a future because it is important for all of us who are interested in the great outdoors, survival, and just being outdoorsy people; learning how to live off the land.
    Keep up the good work, because as much as I love watching what you do, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Lucius. Besides sharing, commenting, etc. I'm not sure there is much more you can do. I really appreciate your kind words. And yeah, part of it is YT holding the content back because of the genre, hunting is really taken a hit on YT and they won't put ads on it, then they won't promote it. I may have to do more PG related stuff before this gets big and keep hunting and processing as a side issue or just keep making separate videos, which is a shame. I'll find a way to make this work! And I just keep going...just like survival :)

      @TheWoodedBeardsman  7 років тому

      Thanks Marco. It's hard to start off from nothing to hyper speed, but inside of 3 days, that's what we managed to do. Last year, was even harder, a much slower pace all the way through, but much more representative of what it might be like without having all your ducks in a row. Things really lined up this year...but it's tough out there. Be hard to keep this pace up, but alas, that's what you'd need to stay alive eating just wild. Thanks for sticking to the series and giving it a shot!

    What I really admire is the way you show and handle the guts. Even in most wilderness or "back to roots" videos where they slaughter and "clean" animals, the guts are ripped out and discarded. I like the way you zoom in on them and handle them. I can feel the part of me that is conditioned to be uncomfortable with them even though I do enjoy eating organs. Watching you do this feels like it gives me the opportunity to change my relationship with food.

    Yeah, it’s in the Ludington area but worth it. I caught a 28 lb King there in 2016!

    Another quality episode, I definetly thought it was a bit over kill with the bear.... right up to the last 5 or so minutes in the video. Would have been a shame to let it go to waste. 👌

      There you go! The little bits of nuance are important. We did what we needed to do to keep everything from spoiling. I'll go over this in a future video, but "waste" is really just a human term. Even if we left the bear on the road, it wouldn't have been wasted...nor would any animal not eaten by us or other human, the animal of the forest would be glad for the meal, as much, and more than we. Waste is a human term....

    This is so interesting and informing! I´d love to do what you guys, too! I have not much knowledge but hey we have the internet and you guys! If I had to cut up a animal, like skinning them and such I´d be scared and a bit disgusted at first but if yer wanna do this so bad then you have to cross your anxieties! I am excited! Thanks for sharing.

      Not my preferred audio, but I had not choice but to roll with it. I actually don't mind how it turned out, but a different pace for sure. Different day, different pace, different scenario, kinda worked as a solo.
