I was in my 20’s, late 1970’s , recovering from being dumped by my first college gf. Drove up to Oregon, Washington, Idaho and even Vancouver. Visited old college friends. Learned how to fly fish, ventured to all the cool place, including white water rafting. After 2 months of that thanks to friends who housed me, I woke up one morning and thought, “what girlfriend?” Lol. I was healed and went on with my life. Thanks for this video!
This was absolutely amazing! You have definitely mastered your craft. These are not just camping videos, this is art created by a professional filmmaker. Love your work Jonathan. Much appreciated. Looking forward to your next adventure…Peace.
Putting yourself out there and going on adventures by yourself with strangers is awesome to see. Thank you for providing value in the quality of videos you are creating. You are doing a fantastic job and I look forward to each upload.
same here, while enjoy jonathan camping and travels, my number 1 priority see his video are because of recipe of cooking, i live in dorm and on quest finding cooking recipe to try out, most important camping foods because mostly its was simple to prepare
Nice trip, video works well, seamless and flowing, smooth! Always a pleasure to tag along on your adventures. Nothing wrong with mixing styles and adding variety either.
Love the voiceovers...great new format! That river run looked awesome...but the boulder pivot was crazy!! Cliff jump!! Woohoo...we do that at the cottage!! Loving your adventures. The new camper is working out well. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Jonathan this is the perfect video. Truck camping. Adventuring. Cooking. Fishing. Keep it up my friend. This style of video is how you’re gonna make it to 500K by the end of this year.
Hey Jonathan, I can't remember the last time I smiled and laughed so much during one of your vids. That Idaho rapids trip looked like so much fun. 😊👍👍👍
How to catch the flying bugs around your lights at night. In a small bowl, whip up a small amount of water and a good squirt of liquid dish detergent into a mound of foam. Turn off all lights but one. When the bugs get attracted to that light, hold the bowl of foam close to the light and the bugs will fly into it and get caught. Problem solved in no time! I use a hand powered rotary eggbeater to quickly make the foam.
I love that you've gotten back to more of the b-roll nature shots with the peaceful music. That's what originally brought me to your channel. Those moments of calm and serenity calms my soul. :)
If you're going to keep the Honda generator on board for a while you may want to consider adding a dual fuel conversion so it can run on propane in addition to gasoline. I installed a kit from Hutch Mountain on mine and it has worked flawlessly. Not having to deal with gasoline has been such a relief, and it was an easy conversion that took less than an hour with minimal tools. Just throwing it out for your consideration. I love the new format, but will watch whatever you post! 😁
Loving the adventure and travels! So glad you were able to reset and get a travel rig that you can just go out and enjoy instead of having to tear apart and fix.
Okay you convinced me, I’m gonna have to go white water rafting now! My grandparents did it, before they passed away, in Colorado, so thank you for inspiring me to go have the same experience they did decades later!
My first and only white water rafting was in the mid 80’s , as we went to Switzerland for a week . The water was ice cold so we had to wear wet suits and the guides had taught us how to safely maneuver ourselves back onto the raft or off to the banks and to keep our feet ahead of us and we also got to practice this a couple of times . It was a fantastic and exhilarating experience.
I have been watching you for quite sometime already and I think you replaced campers more times than you caught any fish. 😂 I Enjoy all the videos though 😊
I really enjoyed that. I can truthfully say that the two times in my life that I was scared s*****ss were combat in Vietnam and a trip down the New River Gorge in W Virginia. The power of the river is awesome. It is going to take you where ever it wants to and you have no way of escaping its class V rapids. Would not trade it for anything though!
I found you last winter when you started your resto on the Bigfoot. I'm currently restoring a 95' S&S truck camper on my channel. I'm close to finishing and may be looking for my next project. Do you have plans to finish restoring the Bigfoot? BTW, when setting the hook, set it against the drift, in the upstream direction usually. Lifting the tip of the rod like you were is just yanking the fly out of its mouth in the same direction it went in. That reduces the chances of getting a set, but if you set it opposite the direction the fly drifts, your chances of setting the hook increase considerably. Setting against the drift you don't have to lift the tip so high. It works better closer to parallel to the surface of the water. I'm from Idaho and lived in the Bigwood Valley for years...South of Stanley towards the headwaters of the Salmon is good fishing and there is tons of dispersed camping. Over Galena to Sun Valley puts you on the Big Wood, a great fishery and again lots of dispersed camping opps. Peace
Awesome video Jonathan! It’s nice to see you happy and enjoying life and your camper is awesome. You look very comfortable out there. And you have a kitchen on wheels!
Great video man. By far one of my favorite. You're really coming into your own with the videography. Love to see this since I've been apart of the community since the beginning.
Thanks for sharing that river ride, I felt as if I were right there, lol! (the only way I would be on a river raft ride!) I love your humor, I laughed a lot during this video. It's good to see you out and enjoy your journeys , thanks for taking us along!
I really like this new format of video. I’ve actually finished the last few videos. Making a meal plan for a few days and a grocery list based off that is super helpful. You end up with meals instead of just ingredients.
I've never white water rafted but did do some slow water tubing on the Salt River in Arizona. There was a saying about it that I'm sure applies here, "There's never a bad day on the river". Great to see you out there having some adventures.
Love your cooking skills, did your Mama teach you that? One thing I know is that you need to make a list before going grocery shopping. This trip is beautiful and full of exciting adventures, even if catching a big one was not to be. So happy you are showing us Idaho as I've not been there. Really enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one. 👏👏👏
You don't have an isolator switch installed in truck, and charge camper batteries while driving?..... And portable solar to charge while parked? You can buy LED bulbs that will fit pre-existing light fixtures for a whiter light if you wish. Enjoy your vids!
Hi Jonathan, You asked for comments ... I most enjoy your videos when you take off on an adventure to some quiet spot without a crowd. Just beautiful scenery and your adventure. Yup, you may be hiking, setting up a tent, or trying your fly rod again. So, this video was to much like watching someone on a vacation ... Honestly, that part was boring. Go back to real adventures. Thanks for asking for comments. Stay safe and be happy.😀
@@JonathanYentch Hope, someday you will enjoy an adventure in The Shoshone National Forest. It is our 1st National Forest just outside the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park. I work for the Forest Service during summers and think this is a place you would love to visit. ...
Loved the rapid ride! I loved when we road the Colorado River. Loved that you keor the 'slippery rock' fall. 😂 Keep up the hard work! My hubby's next fishing rod is a fly rod. Loving your adventures!
white balance with a grey card of your using Sony. White balance just the light, right under the light and then try to white balance where you or talent would be sitting or standing and see how that looks.
Really like the new format. Also, really like that you caught a fish! Congrats!! Looking very forward to the next video and more content from the Sawtooth Mountains. Not a lot of people film up there, or at least no people that I watch regularly. I noticed the Wild Fly hat early in the video. You should meet up with Scotty and get some quality time fly fishing. Who knows, maybe he could also offer a few pointers. I could use them, too :D
woops, looks like i added my comment to some other comment. Takes time to get a hold of this tech stuff. Love your video. Really great to see you in Idaho
Had a similar experience at the Sawtooths last month myself. Camprounds at Redfish and Alturus and Petit lakes were all full. Finally had to go back up north a bit from Stanley where I found dispersed camping off the road to Stanley Lake Campground. Plan to go back up that way in maybe May or September next time (but that is high country and you risk snow to some degree at those times)
Another great one! I just keep on having this feeling that this campers are not the way to go. You keep on change them, but almost every video you mention something wrong about it. Then you say it’s definitely something to change in the future, but end up not doing most of those things 😄 Maybe it’s time to start thinking about proper vans that can have “everything” in place. Nothings perfect, but this campers seem to little..
Jonathan, my pontiac G5 had same problem. Only it bottle water or can pop. I came across " cup expanders " lock into place. Some have cut out for mug handles. Look it up please. I am extremely satisfied mine is Integral brand
Omg dude I do the same thing. Grocery shopping sucks!!! I buy all this stuff and then the next day I wonder what the heck I just bought. I do love meal prepping for the week though!!!
Good video. As much fun as the rapids were, the cliff jump looked like even more fun! But that’s just me. I loved the scenic Idaho views. The format is fine. Keep up the great work!
so good to see you camping again. We've always loved the way you capture the essence of nature, bringing the feel of the woods, the countryside, mountains and rivers. You are the best when you're out among the trees. And , now, you are better than ever!
Do you have a tuner on your 7.3? If not a recommend a Hydra. Also after taking my northern life from Washington to Oregon I noticed my camper will slide back about a inch in the bed of my truck. A few 4x3 $25 rubber mats at Home Depot fixed that issue.
Ok I'm trying something new here Jonathon, I'm pausing the video and making these points as I hear your speak about them,... Complete re work of the electrical system on the truck??? is it broke? how about a simple isolator from your truck system to your camper battery, this will charge the battery while you drive, and not discharge your truck battery when stopped, then get a portable solar panel and controller to place out once your parked... continue...The Rapids looks like a blast, thanks for the ride along. I love your sense of humor, "solitude and a sense of isolation: que the parking lot full of cars... LOL...OK question, are you bare foot in that river? what are the chance of getting a hook or some other item stuck in your foot>??? Jonathon, have your ever thought about a a collaborative video with someone like MAV from Minnesota? or one of these other guys that seem to catch lots of fish... don't get me wrong... I'm in the same boat as you... I do a lot of fishing, not so much on catching... LOL. All in all a great video, loved it... Thanks for all you do!
Central Idaho is an awesome place.... there is so much history in the region.... I wish you the best.... Check out the lakes in the area.... I know the sawtooths well....

That duck was suffering from 'angel wing'. It's usually caused by people feeding it bread and the wings develop a deformity
