Nice video, just got a lumi recovery pod, being summer the water straight from external tap isn’t cold enough so doing 10 mins a go, feeling good after though with improved sleep. Just froze a 2L bottle to drop into to cool it down further for tonight’s dip. What are you doing to keep water clean and not smelly after a few days? Mine was starting to smell, so I completely emptied/cleaned an replenished, wondering if you use chlorine or such to maintain clean water.
Hey. Check out the other video I did on the channel - the set up vid as I go through how I keep it clean using chlorine tabs and a dispenser. It will be harder in summer though as weather and water is warmer.
The only research I've seen as a negative for ice baths is that they delay recovery. And, the perception of recovery after ice baths is a result of an analgesic effect and decreased inflammation. However, it is the inflammation that promotes healing/recovery and the analgesic effect can give a false sense of recovery. Ice baths are a sort of "catch-22" or contradiction of sorts. I take ice baths followed by a sauna/heat. Another thermal-therapy I have used is applied localized ice on the joint(s) but heat on the muscle(s). A mix between hyperthermic (heat) and hypothermic (cold) seems to be more effective since the research shows benefits for both in not too different of a fashion.
Still learning mate so thanks for the input. Yeh I’ve certainly seen the same as u’ve mentioned for recovery aspects in the research. My coach mentioned exactly the same thing as you. If it’s a placebo, then I’m happy with that 🤣. I must say though the many other added benefits are clear as day and worth the investment I think.
That was a great watch, I'm definitely going to look into this more, thank you for the video
Thank you for watching and hopefully it has given you food for thought.
Great and informative reel.Refreshing to watch cold water therapy in reality without the tik tok,/insta glamourisation
Ah thanks mate. And thanks for ur input as well!
Great start Danny - wait for that snow next week 😅
Yeh that may make things a little more interesting. Certainly tougher in colder temps. 2.5degs is my lowest so far

I don't consider getting an ice bath myself but I liked hearing about your experience 😊
Thank you! Hope you're training is going well!
Interesting but I’m not trying it🥶. How’s the shoulder?
Haha. Shoulder getting there mate! Still a way off swimming but starting to think about it
