I had chills and a tear in my eye watching that scene for the first time. The kingsman movies are brilliant. You could say eggsy problems were relatable which they were, but eggsy is a insanely trained British spy, Merlin is just a dude. He’s not good at fighting he’s just got a pure heart which makes him lovable as hell.
I remember a few years back this movie randomly came on the tv and I decided to stay and watch and when this scene came on, god damn. Everything about this scene is done so perfectly from a cinematography standpoint that I can’t help but come back and watch it every now and again

The Merlin character was always a big John Denver fan. He was especially excited when he found out they would be going to Kentucky at the beginning of the movie. Good way to send off an important character in a movie.

He was ready to die for it, and he was so proud and happy to do it he couldn't contain it. He felt fullfilled. And through the song he made it so we all felt what he did.

The Merlin character was always a big John Denver fan. He was especially excited when he found out they would be going to Kentucky at the beginning of the movie. Good way to send off an important character in a movie.

It was a pretty neat scene already. He knew what he was doing, he knew what was truly important. He was ready to die for it, and he was so proud and happy to do it he couldn't contain it. He felt fullfilled.
And through the song he made it so we all felt what he did.
I didn’t go into this film expecting much, & it gave me more than I could of ever imagined. Well done. Thank you.
