    Being on the water is a good place to pray! I went fishing Sunday morning last week and missed Church, so decided to talk with God and ask him to guide and direct my life! Instantly, I caught a nice bass! God wink for sure! I have been having trouble with bass jumping and coming off too. Someone said to hold the tip of the pole lower and not winch them in, let them tire just a little. It seems to be helping but kayak fishing is different so that may not work. Good luck!

    Christine for next time because by now this tournament is over but during your practice session's instead of having the rod pointed up as the fish is coming up turn your rod tip side ways if the fish is coming up on the left point your tip to the right close to the water and vise versa if it's coming up on the right, hope this helps 👍

    Hi Kristine,
    So I think your hook set needs to be lower. If you take in some of the slack in your line before setting the hook wound help you catch more because you can bury the hook deeper. Just an observation I noticed. Keep killing it Kristine! Dave

    You are a pro and will recover. Just a couple thoughts from the video. Remember bass mouths are softer in the warm months. Easy to lose fish unless you keep pressure on them and some will just come off. Also, try to keep them down as much as possible once hooked. Rod tip over your head is not a good angle to keep them pinned.

      try a different technique of setting the hook of some kind. maybe not set the hook so hard. You seem to keep doing the same things over and over expecting a different result. try something different for a while it can't be no worse.

    Kristine, this week two other Kayak Bassers i follow had the same sort of issue. It bothered them in the same way. Years ago, in another lifetime i coached Archery for Youth. I took responsibility for ten children, three of which were my own children. Nearly every session ghere was a youngster who was having a bad shoot that night. They were all good at what theyyv did but they all had an "Off," night at one time or another. It was not always easy to fix the problem but we found a a way.
    Usually it was to take a break, grab a drink and step outside for fresh air.
    Since you are already outside there are still things you can do. You can phone a friend and pray but still there js more. You need to change your mindset. Take five minutes to reflect on whjy you are fishing. Rememnber the good timexs for five minutes. Slow your breathing down and make each breath deep.
    When you are done make your next four or five casts not meant to produce anything just do it wwith your eyes closed. Then go back to work.

OK just went to 4:13 in the video and you caught a fish there! God IS SO GOOD! PS Gen 1:2... And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

    Enjoyed the video Kristine! I just had one of those type of days myself. I think it’s inevitable as anglers we face this kind of adversity once in awhile.
    Question: after your practice and crushing them under docks is there a reason you strayed from that pattern?

    You’re a much better fisherman than I but I think you might be pulling up on the rod causing the fish to surface and create slack in the line that’s allowing them to throw the hook. Maybe try keeping the rod down a little more.

    Yup these comments are pissing me off. I’ve NEVER seen a male angler get mansplained this way. Never.
    Maybe most of them don’t post videos showing their bad days. But some do, sometimes, and you don’t see a thousand dudes crawling out to give a professional angler their infinite wisdom all about how they’d do it better if only they were there.

  • @mikeschwallenberg3456
    @mikeschwallenberg3456 Рік тому

    Kristine....it's hard to hear in the video but do you loosen up your drag any while you are fighting fish? If you are using straight braid, or a braid to flouro leader...you may be pulling the hook out of their mouths. I don't really think it's a hook setting issue because it doesn't take much effort, especially with braid to get the hook in their mouths. Usually losing fish is one of 3 things.....#1 bad luck....#2 putting too much pressure and ripping hook out of their mouths....#3 allowing a moment in the fight where you aren't applying any pressure at all for whatever reason. Another thing.....I use those revo rocket reels as well.....and I found that they are a HUGE positive as far as being able to reel your lure in faster, and catching up to a fish going the opposite way....but they are a HUGE disadvantage in the actual fish fight because the reel is applying more pressure bring in line than most spinning reels.....that's why I loosen my drag down BIG TIME unless it's super heavy cover.

    You are in sight of where I just weighed a 23 pound bag on June 17 in a tournament . I don’t know the date of this video but you’re off the juice in that first area and fishing to far out offshore like the guys around me that we’re catching dinks . There’s a 80 yard stretch that’s the juice and you’re just outside of it. As well as you did in the practice video I don’t know why you switched up. You’re a mile and 1/4 from the union springs ramp and just a little off where you should’ve been . I won’t divulge the name of the point you should’ve been closer too

    Amazing how prayer changes things. Here’s to better numbers on day 2

  • @academicmailbox7798
    @academicmailbox7798 Рік тому

    I remember Bjorn Borg in the old days, would go from clay tennis courts to grass at Wimbledon. And would almost lose his first number of games on grass. It would take Borg the entire event almost at Wimbledon to get into his stride and make his transition from being able to time the ball as it hopped on clay courts, to how the ball behaved on grass tennis courts. That's what's going on here. A couple of anglers who fish Texas lakes, cannot be expected to change from clay court to grass court in one go. These fish that are under ice for most of the calendar year, are just not as used to anglers or being hooked, or seeing baits. As fish in Texas. That have seen every type of whopper plopper ever invented. And every kind of plastic frog that was ever made. One is going from fish that 'know the playbook' and follow the script in the American south. To fish that haven't quite caught up with their lines yet, and are stage and audience shy. The fish in Texas have pos-graduate degrees in fishing lures. These fish in the north, are working on their A, B, C's. The secret often in this fishing, is to oversize one's hook, and not cover as much of the hook. Either make the plastic baits a lot smaller (hook gets bigger relatively speaking), or visa versa. Keep bait the same and increase the hook. However, if you enlarge the hook, you have to use an iron file, to remove some lead or tungsten. If it's weighted hooks. So that hooks increase in size relative to bait, but weight remains small. There's adjustments necessary. It ain't Texas or Kansas Dorothy.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Рік тому

      I'd even go for a keel weighted swim bait hook, of a smaller size. Mount plastic above the keel weight, and behind the hook eye (what that does is move the weight away from the hook eye in front, and to behind where the plastic is rigged). I might also reduce the keel weighting by half too, by removing part. When fish go aerial then, at least weight on hook, is not up next to hook eye. Which is the worst place for aerial fish.
