15 years ago my boss bought a few bottles of wine and gave them out at a holiday party. He gave everyone the same bottle but mistakenly gave me a 1987 Opus One. I went home and drank it with my wife and thought...”damn, this is good”! Didn’t find out till that following Monday he mistakenly gave me the wrong bottle. He was a generous guy but not that the generous.
I have a case of 1873 vintage Dr. Pepper owned by count Dracula. It is a rare collector's item. Can sell it to you at like 250 000 dollars a 33 cl can.
It was Malcom Forbes that bought the 1787 Chateau lafite that was allegedly owned by Thomas Jefferson. The Jeffersonian museum believes that he never owned the wines and some of the wines that were found in the same cache were deemed to be fake.
Yup those are the Rodenstock fake bottles. The engraving was made with an electric cutter, which naturally did not exist in 1787. Bill Koch owns the 4 fakes in the video and the 1787 Lafite was a fake Rodenstock too. The 1787 Margaux that got smashed might very well have been a fake too but could have been real.
It's really sad that you classify a wine by its price. A wine is a work, a wine is an art, a wine is the representation of the soul of the wine maker. Pricier doesn't mean better.
The average bottle of Chateau Petrus only costs around $3500 because it's made in such limited quantities. Domaine de la Romanée Conti is $15000 per bottle for new vintages because a very tiny number of bottles are produced each year, but there is massive demand from rich consumers. It doesn't mean they are 5 to 50 times better than a bottle of Chateau Margaux (Premier grand cru classé), they are just much more rare and harder to obtain.
SaudiGangStar In most cases it’s probably true but not necessarily. You can find very tasty wines for way less, like even $10. Depends on the brand and the kind.
@@SaudiGangStar That is absolutely NOT true by any means. The price of wine once you get to a certain point has absolutely nothing to do with the quality - its to do with how rare the vintage is, the process of making it (how many people are employed, is it by hand or machine), and where the wine generally is from.
Watching the video while having a glass of a common red dry 🍷... I know some rich people buy these veery expensive wines for investment, reselling them later on for huge amounts of money... I can't help thinking, though, that if one enjoys a glass of a much cheaper wine, but with the RIGHT person (-s), then he/she feels as if drinking the best wine in the world... We've got one life to live. Money ( business) is important, no doubt about it, but those moments when we allow ourselves to have a good chat and a smile over a glass of wine, are far more important than all the 💰 in the world.
26382 shrF2 What a fucking pussy, people can have there say and opinions and that’s what made this site good. Now snowflakes like you who don’t like bad language are bitching and ruining this platform.
I am sad that sangr'eal 1529 isnt on the list. Understandably it was the most prestigious wine available only for royal families during the time and was not sold to public. Would've love to have a taste of it but I'd still prefer est est or everluce. Oh well, I guess these relicts will never be produce again for us all.
I have collected wine on and off for sometime now and have started to collect again for investment purposes. My most expensive bottle is a 1999 Chateau Haut-Brion with a not too distant in price bottle of Ridge Mont Bello 1999. The others that I have are a bit farther down the price spectrum. But it is fun in finding the rare ones that are in my price range.
9:32 a small note a Jeroboam is 6 X 750 ml. Your calculation is correct if you assume 36 glasses per jeroboam....but a Jeroboam is not a standard size bottle 750 ml. just an fyi.
Most expensive Honey 🍯in the world is " Centauri Honey , by Ahmet Eren Cakir " price around 29500 $ for 1 Kilograms . Centauri Honey also has the Cave honey 10000 Euro kilograms . Its from Turkey, Crazy price but people are buying it.
I would love to invest in the luxurious wines and I've a great taste in it. Once I become a billionaire then I'll definitely deal in fine tastes of wine, It gives me a sense of happiness and royalty when I see these wines🍷 In love with the Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon and Ampoule From Penfolds ❣️❤️👏🍷
Guy I know owns a wine and spirits store with his father Went there for a wine bottle and he told me no wine is worth more than $40 but people sell it for much more
I love a good Italian Chianti, Valpolicella, Ripasso or Amarone. $20 - 28.00 Canadian. Excellent wine. We will go all out once in a while and get a Brunello in the $60 range. They are all taste fantastic. Billionaires gotta spend their money on something I guess. My wife's boss took us to Vegas and of course he brought his own wine specially flown in from France. Meh, tasted OK. I did not jump up and down, he was shocked. It is all a game to the elites at all level. Buy, drink and enjoy what pleases you. They are just grapes!!!
the screaming eagle sold for such a high price, because it was for a charity action. the bidder gave that much money so that it could be spent on a good cause. the bottle was never worth that much and has never been sold again for that price. The current sellprice doesn't even come close nowadays
Ridiculous prices for only a winedrink. In 1979 is was working in a liquor store and there wasn't so much interest for investing in wine. A bottle of 1976 Chateau Margaux, Margaux, Bordeaux area France (mentioned in this video). had a sellingprice of usd 10. (ten dollar). Why I didn't buy all those bottles. But remember it isn't the price that makes the quality of the wine. Much good quality wines you can buy for usd 40 per bottle and they are also special for that moment. 🙄🙄. So let the silly people pay such ridiculous high prices. Buy 1 bottle instead of a real house where a family can live.
The Penfolds make a nice drop at a fair price, a cab ride in town. But Adelaide has 100s of other wineries no more than 100kms out of town. In the hills and valleys but shoosh dont tell anyone.
Penfolds Grange is far out of the reach of average consumers though, it might not be obscenely expensive like a Romaneé-Conti but they still cost about $600-700 a bottle for more recent vintages (and far more for older ones). I doubt the average person can even afford $50 wines except on special occassions.

I also agree. You can find a screaming eagle cabernet Sauvignon in the shop Crump Richmond fine wines in London for 12315 €

As if any of the Bordeaux premier cru wines represents the “soul of the winemaker”. Most are owned by the super rich which have no soul.
