Brutal start to the 2024 gravel race season

- Bike racing can be very hard and you don't always get what you worked for.
On the 6th of April I had my first real gravel race of the 2024 season. A 150km gravel race on a very hard route. My preparation was not the best with a week of sickness a week before the race, but sometimes magical things happens when you pin on a race number.
Unfortunately this was not a magical day on the gravel bike. I had a brutal start to the 2024 gravel racing season.
The race is called Ulven gravel. A awesome and very hard route. Hope to come back next year in better shape.

Thanks for sharing Mads,
It's nice to hear that your wife is doing fine and you are back in good health making progress on your training.
I'm 60 and going to enter my first race ever. I'd be participating on the Sea Otter Classic 2024 in Monterey CA.
Although I've been biking for many year, I picked up biking more seriously during the pandemic in 2021. I do not know what to expect during the race, but I am ready to give it all, specially in the second half of it.
Checking the tire pressure would now be on my list, thank you!
Best of luck,
Jorge
Hi Jorge
Thanks for your comment and best of luck at the Sea Otter. My sure it will be a great experience for you. And YES! Do double check tires pressure😃
Thanks for making the video and best wishes for the rest of the season.
Thanks for your comment!
Hey Mads, don't let your head down, mate! Just look at it as a training ride after recovering from illnesses. You'll come back stronger! 💪 Glad your wife is ok. That was even more important that day! 🖖
Hi Jenne
Thanks mate. You're right. Actually i'm been feeling much better in training since the race. So the next one can only be better 🤞🥳
Good thing you made the video. As a follower its interesting to see the ups and downs. Thats life and sharing those failures inspires others (including me) to keep going and learn from your mistakes rather than quitting. Keep it going and good luck with the racing 💪
Thanks mate 🙏 I'll keep sharing. But hopefully the next one will be a bit more fun to make 🤞
Hej Mads, Ulven er modbydelig hård. Jeg meldte selv pas på den da jeg heller ikke havde fået trænet nok og var sløj ugen op til. Dybeste respekt for dit forsøg, virkelig sejt! Og det ser trods alt ud til at du kører pænt stærkt💪
Tusind tak! Den er nemlig en crazy hård omgang. Men også virkelig fed. Det er bare et hård løb at åbne sæsonen med. Vi må give det et skud igen næste år.
your honest analysis helps us mere mortals as well to avoid mistakes and make progress whatever our goals or age or circumstances are. Thanks a lot, head up and keep going your journey!
Thanks a lot. That's my hopes anyways. That by sharing my mistakes others don't have to do the same🥳
Hi Mads, for what it’s worth as you grow the channel you are going to get people watching for all sorts of reasons. Me I ride gravel events, but I am in my 50s with various parts of my body made out of titanium after bike crashes, I watch it out of interest, the commentary rather than music is more interesting, and also to learn things, sure there are times when you learn something and I already know it, but there is always something to learn. As such you have always been fairly self effacing and amicable, if some thing goes right or something goes wrong you call it. This is what makes you channel interesting for me, I am glad you/made/posted the vid, keep it up 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and best wishes to your wife
Hi Adam. Thanks a lot for your comment. I really means a lot. It's easy to make a video when all is good and fun, less so when not. So to get a comment like this makes it worth it.🙏
Respekt for at du stadig smed din video op. 🙂💪
Tusind tak!🙏 Man må jo tage det sure med det søde. Selvom det er klar sjovest at lave videoerne når det går godt
Thank you for sharing this video. The fact that you don't hide the lows on your journey makes your documentation very honest and really interesting.
Not only do we both have the same goal - even though I'm competing in a different age group - but we also face similar challenges of not only focussing training on the goal, but also trying to balance it with family life. For me, that's another reason why I love watching your videos!
Keep up the good work and good luck with the qualifiers!
Thanks a lot. I'll keep making videos from both the ups and downs. It sure is a challenge keeping the balance, but there's more to life than training and racing. Best of luck qualifying. Hope to see you at the world champs!
Hi Mads, Thank you for sharing this video!
Keep up the good work and very good to hear your wife is doing oke!
I’m learning a lot from your videos. I have been training for 1 month right now +\- 6h a week) along side my football training. After the football season I also want to go gravel racing with the ultimate goal to qualify in the future 😃
Keep up the work and keep beleving you can qualify this year 🙏🏼
Hi Tim
Thanks a lot. Very very happy to hear I've learned something 👍 and thank you for following along. I'll keep chasing the dream. 💪🦿
Interesting update on your journey. Glad your wife is ok now, concussion is always a worry. Looking forward to your videos from Spain.
Thanks 🙏 very happy she ok. As you mention, concussions can be very serious. Thanks, will be nice with some training in the sun
Hey buddy! Glad everything is well on the home front! 🙏🏻 thank God.
You will get days line this, the bonus is, you have the whole season still to improve. Take it as a mental note of strength. It was a good mind workout, when the child ate down! So not all a loss. Sure your body wasn’t ready for the hard conditions, I think had it been warmer, maybe it could have ended differently. When you sick your body clings to warm, so your ride was a shock to the system. Anyways, glad you sucked this up and look forward to more and please carry a pump with you! 😅
Thanks mate. Good thing is that it feels like the shock to the system also give me a bit of a form boost. So now its all about enjoying some training in sunny spain 🦿💪
Good luck, I am on a mission to get into the Worlds Gravel for my age this year.Missed out last year as this was my first year back racing after nearly 10 years of no racing 😊 but enjoying it.
Thanks and best of luck to you too. Where do you plan to qualify?
I Looking at Poland or Belgium or Wales
Nice. Have looked a bit on the one en Poland too. Good luck on getting your WC ticket 💪
Have a nice trip to spain.
Mange tak Troels 😀 det er sgu lækkert med noget sol
