I moved here in the 70's....started working in the Big Studios...landed a job in Management at a Big Hollywood Motion Picture Studio....it's been a dream! and it IS the creative Capitol of the world....you can be successful anywhere these days....but you can be a different KIND of successful here.....ANYTHING you want...entertainment-wise, food-wise, culturally, ethnically, WHATEVER you want ....it is ALL within an hour of downtown LA.....depending on the time of the year, you can go surfing in the morning at Malibu, and go snow skiing in the Afternoon at big bear....I've done that. If you are a creator, there are places you can go here where it's just ALL creators hanging out. I could go on and on about all of the opportunities available to creators here in LA....but then this post would be miles long.
Thank you for making this video! For the longest time, I've been feeling this push to move to California or New York and it is more intense now than ever. Currently, I am a video editor for a news station in Nashville but have worked in other markets in Tennessee and Florida. I like being here and all but I have felt that I would grow more by gaining opportunities in cities that have a large media presence. Seeing this has boosted my confidence in relocating there! While I am doing my best to save and research prior to mass applying to news jobs out there (this would probably be the easiest foot in the door to LA for me based on my experience) but eventually I want this to be a reality and find a place where I truly belong!
Was already thinking of wanting to move to LA for other reasons but will think more about it if I want to move for a creative path! thank you so much for all the tips - will rewatch as the situation w/covid gets better :P
Thanks Josh, a thanks and good shout out to Andy I truly appreciate that you made this video. I already live in LA. So how can I get in touch with you Josh? Yes, I'm ready to with like minded folks.
Please stop moving to LA. We are full. We are over rated. We will take all of your money. And for the videographers and editors...stop doing work for little to no money. Hollywood is raping y'all. Work with brands 99% of the time because the music and tv industry is a game not worth playing.
It is kind of odd to give this sort of advice and never acknowledge the idea of Covid. This approach made sense when this guy did it but had unemployment hit 12 percent then? Was there a housing crisis where 36 percent of Americans didn't pay their rent this month? Was the industry in an indefinite freeze with an uncertain future for a huge percent of people involved? Honestly, this advise was brilliant in a pre Covid world but it's misleading to the point of being borderline dangerous to take seriously in a world economy that Covid isn't wrecking.
Exactly why we need to reopen the economy. The lockdowns dont work even after they mandated masks, and Covid death count is around .04%. Reopen and if you dont want to work stay home.
Mucho bla, bla , bla. Se supone que el arte visual y no arte de hablar hasta por los codos. Hay canales que aunque no sean en español , uno entiende ( fotógrafos ) los conceptos que quiere transmitir el canal pero aquí es solo bla, bla, bla. Chao

It's much better to make "How to flee from LA" video :)
Exactly
Kurt Russel already released that video in 1996 ;) "Escape from LA"
hopefully he makes it cuz LA locals are fed up with this gentrification. I'm one of them
Love from India
I'd do anything to be able to go back and time and send this video to myself when I was 22.
That sounds sad :( it’s never too late!
I want to move to LA for the film industry one day! Damn LA is really expensive
