Apparently Lapras was originally partly based on the Loch Ness Monster. Hooray for our local beastie! 😁 With regard to lack of handholding, I really liked how gen 2 handled it. Hand holding is a lot more common pretty much all Rpgs These days. The games were designed around you getting lost and pointing you in the correct direction actually became more commonplace in the SNES - Playstation Eras. They usually left the more confusing, cryptic stuff for side quests.

Something to note for your dunsparce run; obviously the rollout defense curl strat, but it's move pool is surprisingly very diverse. I love teaching that thing flamethrower. If you need a good name for it. I just name mine Danzio cuz it sounds cool.
I love the Kalos region because while it is linear, there are many areas within routes such as Terminus Cave and the lost hotel that encourage more exploration for someone who wants to get the most out of the game
yea there are many routes in X/Y that have branching paths, but not to the extent where you would get stuck, it just changes the trainers you fight and items you find, so going back and exploring the other path is usually worth it.
I enjoyed the run, but I feel inclined to point out (after noticing late in the video against Bruno), you list the stats with Special Defense in Blue and Special Attack presumably cropped out. You can preview the stats with a single unified Special on Bulbapedia as well, with a link at the bottom of the stat listing for 1st gen pokemon. Other than that, nothing to add, great video, looking forward to the next one :D
I remember being a kid and going completely out of the way to rush through silph so I could pick up Lapras. I still remember the shock when I found out lapras had access to electric and psychic type moves. I played a lot of fire red so I grabbed thunder, psychic, surf, and rest. And then add a espeon with baton pass and calm mind. Sheesh that’s one heck of a mon
Another great video. Nice one! Along with you know who (a certain user whose name begins with a J and ends with an 11), I'd say your Pokemon challenges are the most fun to watch in the whole internet. I'm just wondering why the recent need to include so many visual memes. I honestly don't think you need them, as your content is good and your narration original enough without those comedy devices. Just a subscriber's opinion, anyway! :) Keep up the good work!
Why couldn't you bubblebeam Surge's Raichu? Electric doesn't resist water, but am I missing something? I mean, body slam paralysis got you the win, but since Raichu used growl, I'm curious what bubblebeam would have done with Lapras at full special.
10:40 Don't forget that the legendaries are no longer hidden in obscure dungeons, some of which you aren't even required to visit during the main game! No no, now they're front and center, integral to the plot of the games. You WILL catch these pokemon, you WILL encounter them and you WILL be amazed at how rare it is to encounter such pokemon, the game screams at you while making it impossible to ever miss them. No longer do they roam around, making you have to actually chase them down if you want to catch them. The further you go in generations, the more and more and more constricting and corridor-like the games become. In every respect they become more and more condescending to the player, refusing to allow any amount of freedom and exploration. Pokemon has become so afraid that you might have to put in some effort to enjoy the game that it spoon feeds you everything now. And that might even be tolerable _if what it was spoon feeding us was good._ I love traditional, linear JRPGs. I don't think linearity is automatically a bad thing. But holy crap is Pokemon's writing bad! So not only do you have the game coming to a screeching halt every time you get to a new location so that it can vomit up its plot to you, but it's a really bad plot, with shallow, under developed characters. I could talk for hours about the declining quality of the Pokemon franchise. Please attend my upcoming Ted Talk :V
Of course our Scout knows the truth and dont praise the false Prophet. (Seriously tho I never liked twitch plays pokemon or any of the memes it spawned so someone who just Pulls a troll with it is always great in my opinion)
Scott: rules no sleep tactics, keeps sing on lapras for the first 20 levels as a dead move slot. Also scott: hates sand attack and stat lowering shenanigans, deletes mist at the first opportunity.
I appreciate the hand holding personally. I nearly gave up on my first playthrough of leafgreen because I couldn't work out how to get past the snorlax and/or into saffron city (I don't remember which one it was) and looking it up somehow didn't get me the answer. I spent hours trying to find it out and would've loved someone to just tell me how to do it
why not have a setting to turn on/off tutorials/tips instead? fixes your problem as well as everyone else's. I wish gamefreak listened to constructive criticism.
you were most likely stuck at the safron city guards, they changed how you get past them between red and fire red, so when you look it up, you get wrong information from the old games.
Episode name: "Reminiscing with Scott feat Locky the Lapras" Jokes aside, man what a run! My inner kid loved this as he really loved Lapras growing up :D Also next VS run: Ekans Vs. Koffing!
I agree that newer games are more linear, but gen 1 has much more problems than newer gens. Plus, in the gen 3, 6 and 7 games, exploration is highly encouraged with places such as: Secret Isle, Secret meadow, Secret shore, shoal Cave, Route 123, route 130, route 131, route 132, pacifilog Town, route 133, route 134, route 109, route 108, route 107, route 106, route 105, sealed chamber, underwater, meteor falls, safari zone. And that is just hoenn. In kalos the ones I know are, the lost hotel and terminus Cave. In gen 7, it's a freaking archipelago hiw could there not be exploration there.

Thanks for the sub! Glad you're enjoying the content.
For the algorithm!!! Great video! Shame I didn't get the final level range right, but still. This was still good to watch. Keep it up!
Something to note for your dunsparce run; obviously the rollout defense curl strat, but it's move pool is surprisingly very diverse. I love teaching that thing flamethrower. If you need a good name for it. I just name mine Danzio cuz it sounds cool.
This mad lad took the dome fossil. My respect to you
I love the Kalos region because while it is linear, there are many areas within routes such as Terminus Cave and the lost hotel that encourage more exploration for someone who wants to get the most out of the game
yea there are many routes in X/Y that have branching paths, but not to the extent where you would get stuck, it just changes the trainers you fight and items you find, so going back and exploring the other path is usually worth it.
I had no idea Lapras could learn Psychic. What a movepool she has.
Yeah... amazing move pool and good stats to back it up.
I mean Solar Beam is also pretty suprising (And only here it could learn it)
@@Acacius1992 to be fair, a bunch of weird shit that has absolutely no business learning solar beam learns solar beam
@@KissyKaede Yeah thats true.
But I mean a water/ice type is especially weird xD
But its Pokemon gen 1. Here is everything possible xD
@@Acacius1992 A bunch of water Pokemon with no business learning thunderbolt learn that too. Lapras especially.
Love your content! Always look forward to seeing it
This is honestly the only channel I comment on. I want to help with the algorithm and to show my support to the creator. I rather enjoy your content.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate you're support!
Got amped for the premier then saw i had a 24 hour wait 😄
I enjoyed the run, but I feel inclined to point out (after noticing late in the video against Bruno), you list the stats with Special Defense in Blue and Special Attack presumably cropped out. You can preview the stats with a single unified Special on Bulbapedia as well, with a link at the bottom of the stat listing for 1st gen pokemon.
Other than that, nothing to add, great video, looking forward to the next one :D
Forgot to fully edit the graphic. Should be Special 95.
I think Lapras will do well. It's funny because I was thinking about suggesting a Dewgong vs Lapras challenge but then I saw this video of Lapras up.
Success Kid was actually born premature, so that intro was spot on.
12:10: "Venonat and Venomoth are both bug-poison types".
13:20: "...Venomoth. That psychic-flying behemoth".
Uuuh...
Oh sorry, it's Dark/Fairy. I keep getting this one mixed up.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon at least you've never [yet] said augumon evolves into charizard.....
@@epicfail9271 Don't tempt me Frodo.
It's clearly Bug/Flying; it evolves from Metapod. ^-^
Nice to see my favorite Pokémon putting in work.
Someone is FINALLY doing a dunsparce run!!!!
I love how you tell very personal stories :)
Enjoying watching these while I'm playing Legends Arceus
Ah finally somebody gets it Dome fossile for life
Who doesn’t like getting dome?
Intelligent people
Man, just officially watched every video. Need more please 👌.
Sunday (the longest one yet)! Also, there are two coming this week.
Take a shot for every time something survives on a sliver of health
He chose the rival of Lord Helix, Master Kabutops! THIS MAN'S A MANIAC. SUBBED IF YOU KEEP DOING IT.
Oh I'm going to keep doing it.
Finally dome fossil gets some recognition.
Of course our Scout knows the truth and dont praise the false Prophet. (Seriously tho I never liked twitch plays pokemon or any of the memes it spawned so someone who just Pulls a troll with it is always great in my opinion)
That final turn is so scary but so amazing! Just wow....
Scott: rules no sleep tactics, keeps sing on lapras for the first 20 levels as a dead move slot.
Also scott: hates sand attack and stat lowering shenanigans, deletes mist at the first opportunity.
yeah that really annoyed me too haha. "no sleep strats" yet taught bubblebeam over mist which as u know counters stat altering moves >.
I don’t remember playing with Lapras before Picking up Gold as a kid. I’m glad it didn’t go extinct!
7:04
I don't think he's heard of the LochNess Monster....^-^
oh hell yes im a charizard in your patrons. i am so okay with that B) okay now time to actually watch the vid
I’m literally binge watching all of your video’s😂
I don’t like tentacool but since everyo else likes the run I have to see it now keep it up man!!!
Glad you took the root fossil this time
Gen I Lapras in particular is like an actual tank. Not to slow, hard to take down, hits hard.
Episode name: "Reminiscing with Scott feat Locky the Lapras"
Jokes aside, man what a run! My inner kid loved this as he really loved Lapras growing up :D
Also next VS run: Ekans Vs. Koffing!
"My Parents want me to only play/gaming on the weekends". Finally found someone, how had the same strange rule as a kid :D
It was the worst!
I was getting ready to leave for work in 25mins, When I seen you'd posted...
I'll just be late they'll understand
I love this channel and content I’d love to know what program you use so I can challenge myself
My channel has a recent video about how to replace the starter!
Lapras is such a cutie~ I recently found a crocheted one at a variety mall and have some of my other crocheted Pokes on its back. =3
Finally someone picks up the dome fossil
Dome fossil is the best
that AAAhhhhh against surge could have a little bit of passion xD
I agree that newer games are more linear, but gen 1 has much more problems than newer gens. Plus, in the gen 3, 6 and 7 games, exploration is highly encouraged with places such as:
Secret Isle, Secret meadow, Secret shore, shoal Cave, Route 123, route 130, route 131, route 132, pacifilog Town, route 133, route 134, route 109, route 108, route 107, route 106, route 105, sealed chamber, underwater, meteor falls, safari zone. And that is just hoenn.
In kalos the ones I know are, the lost hotel and terminus Cave. In gen 7, it's a freaking archipelago hiw could there not be exploration there.
Love the content bro keep it up😁
30:40 was that a knuckle crack? Seems like you got some anger against that sandslash :D
Sandslash is the worst!
