Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western-themed action-adventure video game developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game is a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption, and the third entry in the Red Dead series. Set in 1899, it follows the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. After a botched ferry heist, Dutch van der Linde and his gang, which includes Arthur Morgan and a young John Marston, are forced to flee their hideout in Blackwater and attempt to cross the mountains west to evade law enforcement. In order to fund their escape, Dutch has the gang rob a train belonging to the wealthy oil magnate Leviticus Cornwall. A furious and vengeful Cornwall then hires the Pinkerton Detective Agency, who send Agents Milton and Ross to apprehend the gang. As a result, the gang is forced to be constantly on the move to stay one step ahead them. All the while, Morgan and the rest of the gang continually have to perform numerous jobs and heists to keep the gang funded as Dutch continually promises one last, big heist that will secure their freedom.

I once healed a man of a snake wound and a few days later he saw me going into a gun shop and boasted my story of how I saved him to his friends sitting next to him. He told me he’d buy me a gun of my choice in the store. The gun he bought me remains to be my main gun and also serves as a reminder of how damn detailed this game is.

its insane how huge the game is im 20 hours in i havnt even touched the story stuff much so much to see and do random encounters are great too and all diffrent compared to rdr 1 random encounters which were like maybe 3-4 types this one has like a few hundred problably lol from gettin mugged or even animal attacks etc etc.
I love details like the part where Arthur dies of tuberculosis and you play as john for the rest of the game and build bleachers hope and explore the whole old map from rdr1

Red Dead is insane, but God of War is almost perfect.. It's a difficult choice.
I still do not quite understand how this didn’t win game of the year. Granted, God of War was a strong product, but nothing in the history of video games has come close to topping this effort!

This game is literally "Insane Details: The Game."
A few that I've encountered:
- I once killed a guy that had a small camp up in the northern area by the mountains. He fell in the river, but was found downriver by the law. They rode over and asked Arthur if he saw any suspects around and I replied that I didn't. They left to keep searching, but then when they didn't find anybody else around they returned and I was wanted.
- If you save a guy from a snake bite, they can get bit again later. This happened to me and the dialogue between Arthur and the guy changed to match. Arthur was upset that he allowed himself to get bitten again and threatened to not keep helping him.
- Stumbled upon a hunter that was tracking a bear. Followed him until he found the bear, but the bear saw him and instantly started charging. I wasn't quick enough to shoot it, so the guy got mauled.I imagine he would have thanked me or something if I shot the bear in time.
I saved the guy and he reacted, he was upset because he could have handled it by himself and didn't need help.
Next time I'll enjoy him get eaten

When out of breath from running, you can't do a long "follow me" whistle to your horse, only short quick whistles until you catch your breath.
This game is truly beautiful! One time I was just riding around in Saint Denis, and I saw this lawman chase this poor man, I went to see what was going on, and the lawman started beating up the poor man, apparently the guy stole an apple because he was starving, and he had no money to take care of himself, so I knock out the lawman, one of the times getting wanted was worth it.
Beating a guy up for stealing an apple. AN APPLE. and the worst part he was starving

level of detail in GTA 6: Rockstar sends a guy to stand next to you when you play the game and he punches you in real life when you get punched in the game.
You die ingame, you die in real life. You get 5 stars in gta, the military will come to your house.

Hung Ngo Maybe for you, but it’s not so striking as in RDR2. The game is so realistic, characters are much more complex, they seem so humanly that I really feel compassion for them. I also felt really bad when killing pets in GTA 5, even though killing people there was not a big deal. Don’t know why it’s like that but I guess it is something about my psychological nature.
It's bizarre how Rockstar goes to all this trouble, only to ignore the single player after release.

The fact that they added the cops being able to take bodies astounds me because 95% of the time if you kill someone, you'll be in another town by the time they come to the scene so no one would notice it. The lengths Rockstar goes for detail is insane

When I went to Guarma I was really surprised by the Parrots in the Game

EA games are so polished af. I played Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 5, such beautiful and smooth graphics. Ubisoft is trash tho. Most of the games that I own are of Ubisoft and they're all badly optimized but Far Cry 5 is lit tho. I've never played an open world game as beautiful as Far Cry 5.

Also their graphics may be polished but not their Game play sadly, and certainly not the story modes either, Battlefield 5 is full of revisionism and ideas that clearly make no sense in a WW2 standpoint. Atleast RDR2 is realistic in terms of its story and is true to how people acted back in the late 1800's,.instead of dumbed down truths.
Every fish I caught in that small pond in Saint Denis has been poisoned most like due to the amount of factories nearby pumping out smoke and polluting water. Great detail!

at 1:40 the two guys by the railing become alerted the moment they see you with a gun, they even ask you why you have a weapon out. That is some level of realism.

One I noticed like a minute ago playing chapter 2, is when Arthur asked Sadie, “you managing not to kill Pearson?” And she answers “only just.” If you ask her again after doing her mission in Chapter 3, she laughs slightly before responding whereas she says it much more quietly in chapter 2 as her and Arthur don’t have that bond yet.
I am so glad the horse fights back. That is an awesome detail!
7:30 The encounters are even deeper. I saved this man bitten by snake and actually met him later in Valentine. He thanked me for saving his life and told me I could choose a free item of my choise from the gunsmith. I got an upgrade worth of 50 dollars for free and he paid it. It really made my day.
Oskari Valtonen It’s cool until you start encountering NPCs who were snake bitten or get stuck in their own bear trap... over and over. I’ve had like 4 dudes bit by a snake, they’ll give you a free gift at the store each time, but **SPOILER*** if you finish the story you will have plenty of money and the free gifts don’t really matter much lol

Ok guys this, I have to post, because it actually made me kinda salty. *SPOILER** So obviously an beat the game and am now playing with John... so, those of you familiar with the Mr. Black and Mr. White stranger encounters, here is what happened. I played through what I thought was Black/Whites story, which consisted of I believe 4 or 5 encounters throughout the world. That was as Arthur. Now, playing as John, the ENTIRE scenario seems to have re-appeared. I literally just stumbled on Mr. Black and Mr. a White outside of Rhodes, same spot as I found them as Arthur.
When I found them as John, they went on to say the exact same lines in the exact same cutscene as when I first found them as Arthur. Then they asked me to remove the bounty posters in Rhodes AGAIN, and the NPCs in town repeated their dialogue about the men not being killers and blah blah... this honestly made me stare at the TV like... wait, wtf? Totally took me out of the immersion of the details in the game, instantly. There are many things I have been extremely frustrated with in this game, though I have played it for an unhealthy amount of time since release. All in all, great game, but when something is as good as this, minor flaws or things like this feel critical to the games purpose.
If you talk to John Marston Arthur will sometimes make jokes about him not beimg able to swim...a little hint/easter egg from the first Red Dead

The way how R* coded the NPCs made the whole world alive. From how they see your clothing, to whatever you're holding, to the (rather broken) Wanted system.
Something I just noticed the other day, there's a dead horse in the mountains of Ambarino with its guts spilled out that I'm pretty sure is a reference to The Revenant, where he cuts the horse open and gets inside it to stay warm

There is another detail, every gang member has their own ways of pulling their guns out, hosea turned them around on his holster so he pulls the left gun out with the right hand and the right gun with his left hand and Dutch pulls the right one with his right hand and the left one with the left hand etc.

During missions if you get too far away from the person you're with the voice fades due to the distance so they shout whatever they're saying.
First part of the game also had that feature. Nice touch.

Not sure if anyone's seen this detail in the game yet: I was at lake Isabella to catch a Arabian white horse, when I look at the lake, as an eagle actually dived down and caught a fish from the lake and flew off with it. Now, I love Eagles, but that's a really impressive detail from R* and they made it quite well and certainly made my day!
Look out for eagles and you may see them catching their prey! It's truly awesome to see!
Its the same thing with rabbits. I saw a eagle snatch a rabbit from the ground, and they both fell, when i shot them from the sky

You probably already know this, but if you watch a herd of passive animals you can see them move between eating & drinking spots (You can do this with predators but it's much harder since they can spot you easier, so you have to be further away)

One other detail I noticed, if you stand on the very top of a mountain and you look at the shadow of that mountain, you will notice your character silhouettes shadow too. As you walk or run across the top of that mountain and look at the Mountain Shadow, you will see your character shadow running and walking around too. Pretty crazy

With the horse kick I find it interesting the level of detail that they used. If your kicked in the head it is immediate death but if kicked in the body you're close to death and that is great detail
