- Kristi Guillory performing her original Cajun song Blues A Catin for MusicBox Project. Krisit is an accomplished accordian and guitar player as well as knocking out some powerful vocals, writing great tunes and she shares our love of folklore. She's a member of the Cajun band Bonsoir Catin, one of the women musicians being featured in MusicBox Project's upcoming film documentary "AMERICANA WOMEN" Roots Musicians - Women's Tales and Tunes.

i'm an acadian from the magdelen islands in Canada and here when we say catin we talk about dolls not the Barbie doll type but the bigger dolls baby size. I find it interesting how the definition of that word has changed since the deportation. Lovely playing from a northern cousin.

I'm Acadian from New Brunswick Canada.Acadians are the Cajun's cousins. We still speak french as our first language and our grand parents still used the old old french.We still use the word Catin as what it was back then.A beautiful girl and not a prostitute......It is also a Doll..The same way as you'd use doll in English....She's a doll...C'est une Catin also more modern would be Poupée .----.belle musique!!!!!Keep it up!!!

Yes I do understand Cajun and chiac.....chiac is really a blend of acadian and english words conjugated in french....you'd pick it up quick if you were around Moncton NB....I'm from the north in NB....Accents change from different areas...

I think there might be Euro, or Canadian French in my last name, but even my grandfather couldn,'t find any French liniage. All I know is Euro, pronunciation of words always made me cringe.
