I had this exact atc in green. It seemed under powered and slow on the road and packed dirt but one day dad packed it in the back of his pickup and we took it to the beach...wow, night and day! That thing really was made for the sand with those balloon tires. It really flew on the beach! Also, this is the model featured in James Bond "Diamonds Are Forever".
I have many fond memories of putting myself into sketchy situations on an almost identical bike. They put out more power than the displacement would suggest.
I'm sure at that time there was a lot of variance in piston tolerances etc that came out of the factories. Even Honda. Plus that one definitely had some hours on it from the looks of her. I remember mine as being almost able to keep up with the 200 I got when I was older. Of course I was quite a bit larger by then.
I wouldn't restore it unless another just like it can be found, then keep the best of the 2 un restored, but maintained very well, restore the other and maintain it as well, and have it be the rider, the unrestored be the "museum piece" as it were... that's a rare find, in fact might be impossible to find another with all original paint, papers, tires and all that. This one is some neat history in that good of shape for sure.
@whattheflux2733 i do agree. I personally wouldn't restore this one either. I'm definitely more of a fan of survivor machines that show a little character.
This was the first 3 wheeler I rode and learned you had to lean when you turn after they had to use pruners to cut me and the bike out of a giant thorn bush😖🥴
❤.. I HAD ONE JUST LIKE THAT...BUT IT WAS A 73.. IT HAD LIGHTS.. I GOT IT USED... SOME TIME IN 84 85 .. .AN IF YOU'RE CAREFUL WITH IT IT WILL FLOAT ON WATER 👍
I THINK ALSO BACK THEN YOU COULD GET NEW TIRES... ALSO.. BUT IT LOOKS GREAT.. AN KEEP IT JUST THE WAY IT IS... AN YOU GOT TO THINK BACK IN .. 70 TO LATE 70... YOU HAD LEAD GAS .THE GOOD STUFF.. I THINK I STILL HAVE THE MANUAL FOR IT TOO👍👍
@@CKPowersports Just to find original tires like that is very hard, that machine is worth a pile of money. It wouldn't take a whole lot of nos parts to make it new again.
@@CKPowersports I haven't seen one that nice in over 20 years. Collectors would be fighting for it at the right auction imho. Thank You for showing it here, very cool. You can throw a tube in those tires and they will hold air.
When I drove my 84 yama 125 I'd use the front and outer wheel to turn . That would make it easier to turn and also less wear on the tires.I forget how many times that thing launched me into the air. snowmobile tracks in deep snow will twist the trike when a rear wheel sinks in an send you far, but the landing is soft.
@teleman65 these tires do not remove from the rim. It's all one piece. That's what makes it so challenging. You can't separate the tire from the wheel.

@@HomeShowTV i feel like this one was a little low on power. It was happy in the low range but was struggling in the high range.

But that was before I washed it down with cold water while she was still hot. She didn't go much at all after a bunch of aluminum shattered lol.
Love to see it restored.
It has great bones.
@@leroygt1 it definitely wouldn't be that hard of a restoration project.

I also had one of these in the 70s, and that is fast as it goes when it was new,
@96royalstar21 that's good to know. I've had plenty of the later 3 wheelers but none of the 90s with these tires before.
Tru Definition of Sketch ! ( Lol ) Nice Find
nice job!!!

Can you get tires like that anymore? If not, maybe you could find some heavy duty tubes.
@leroygt1 No, these tires are part of the rim itself. They do not separate. They were only made for like 4 or 5 years on the first atc90s
we had a red 77
That’s a keeper. Just saying..
