Obviously sayings Germanic people built it all by themselves is pure hyperbole, but the contributions are certainly undeniable.
Ashkelon must have been truly something to see. There are still some walls left that give you an idea about how incredible it must have been to walk within the structure. Such a shame that their middle eastern architecture was mostly destroyed.
7:05 do you suppose he meant God’s lower leg muscles or his baby cows..?
Because I think i would typically I would think the latter, but jumping out of a boat into the low shore water would certainly require God’s leg muscles. Hahaha.
11:25 honestly it’s not all that crazy because Mamluks we’re all Europeans and Turkic people who got abducted as children or were the children of those who got abducted as children. If you learn about Vladimir Dracula, he and his brother were taken hostage by the ottomans as children. It’s not a good story.
What I would give to witness this bravery in real life...
The unexpected assault!
Well done.
The Lionheart utterly mauled Saladin that day.
7:03 “By God’s calves, Saladin will never take the Christians!” 💪🏼👊🏼⚔️
But then he dose..
@@ostonespinosa6758 not under Richards watch
@das das Well he kinda did at some extent.
@@murilofurlan3479by that logic richards english took it in 1917 lol
How is it that king richard could put so much fear in his enemy with just his presence...
He was a very unusual and remarkable man.
i think it was the mix of his charisma, bravery, skills and the ability to give morale to his troops. You dont see a king with 2000 men leading the charge against 10,000 men everyday.
His a fighting king ..let say his an Elite Knights in king position
So did richard the lion heart speak mainly french ? Or english?
He spoke absolutely no English. Just French and Occitan ( the native language of southern France ), possibly some Latin too.
He was born in Oxford,England, but lived most of his life in France.
@@kennetholiver954 thanks guys, I wish they had more written on how they were taught to fight, like the early stages, I’d love it if they found a book somewhere, buried in a vault, so interesting, they seemed fearless!
I've always heard he absolutely refused to speak English
@AudioJeep Subliminals I’m surprised English doesn’t have much more French words, like how I know a good handful of Spanish words (not enuff to get by) but kinda a lot
What an Excellent Vedio to Tell the Story of these Times , Men , Leaders , Battles & Tactics Scribed from Eyewitnesse , Your Videos are Awesome , Thank You Very Much , Sir
Glad you enjoyed it
Richard the lion heart what a Boss!
Did ridley Scott saw this video. Someone show to him
Great presentation . Thanks.
Did Saladin ever fight his battles himself?
I only ever hear references of his running away as soon as the Crusaders got too close.
You would think he would jump at Richard's offer of a duel (I assume that was the challenge he was making riding around like that) and a chance to defeat Richard himself in mounted single combat.
@@almighty9662 How exactly was this only by a trick?
Yes it will happens the great Saladin vs Richard 1v1 duel but in rise of kingdoms game lol 😂
most leaders didn't. the French kings for instance but the kings of England tended to lead from the front.
Running away? Where did u hear that? Lol sounds like cope to me because its clear he fought on front literally all time as explained in video
Such a shame it was the last. If only Richard would have had the chance to succeed in Egypt were Louis would later fail.
As the descendant of crusaders and a lifelong admirer of King Richard, I'd like to thank you for this video and others. I've recently found your channel and subscribed. I would love to have been able to ride and fight beside King Richard, just born too late. 🇬🇧
He was only king of England”🏴” not the entire British isle”🇬🇧” you need to use the right flag buddy
@cydia1720 No, I'll stick with that one bro.
..he didnt had any direct descendants lol but his brother jon had
@@bruhmcchaddeus413 Richard never married nor had children.
Richard the lionheart's second nickname was Richard the lionsballs

No wonder he was called the lion heart
Yes, it was a fitting title indeed.
@@RealCrusadesHistory hey I got question did he died in 1197?
what happened to him in the end?
@@dannyyo7948 dying in battle, a honorable death?
@@dannyyo7948 Hm, yeah. Looking back now I don't even know why I quoted you and said that lol
But yeah, he died in battle. :)
I think due to an infecction I guess due to an arrow, something like that
This would be an awesome sequel for the kingdom of heaven. 👌
Its a shame we couldn't have seen more of Iain Glenn as Richard the lionheart. He's a bit old to reprise the role now
Jafa isn’t the kingdom of heaven tho
History seems so intresting , thanks
Can you name the source of your research on the battle of Jaffa
I use all the most important source material for the battle. See the description, all sources are listed there, including the Muslim sources. This is the history as it happened.
Excellent video!
Thanks!
