I haven't heard much about it over the years which surprises me, and I'd be really grateful if you'd consider researching and making a film about it - especially of any known communications and/or agreements between the Brits and any other Western Europeans/Crusaders and the Mongols. Cheers.

One of the Mongol Khans sent an Asian Nesotorian Christian Priest (maybe he was a monk as well, can't remember) to Europe to visit with the Kings and the Pope as well, on a diplomatic mission offering an alliance between the Pope and the Mongols to wipe "Islam" off the face of the map.
There are online sources for this too. I will do a Google search.
Oh! by the way... originally most of the scholars among the Mongols were Nesotorian Christians. Many of the Mongols had Nesotorian Christian wives too.

*“Mar Yahbalaha III, an ethnic Uighur and a monk of the Ch. of E., was born in the vicinity of Khān Bālīq (Beijing).”*
You can look up more about him. He wrote about his travels and travels to Europe, meeting aristocrats, and meeting with Pope. He celebrated a Mass with Catholics as 1 of the Priests at the alter. So, he was a Priest.

Whatever his historical faults, richard was a fantastic military commander and one wonders how the third crusade would have gone had he not been left to continue alone by France and the Holy Roman Empire. Had richard not been forced into targeted engagements and limited actions.

You should do an episode here and there that are more about the artistic traditions of the Crusade era. A special on Norman architecture would be AWESOME. As would a special focusing on the armor and it’s evolution. I know you have an episode on Templar equipment, but I think a longer episode on the evolution of these two specialties (black smithing and architecture/construction) over the course of the Middle Ages, I think that would help people see beyond the warrior nature of these men to see how capable they were across the board. When I stumbled across the Hughes de Paynes episode and you talked about the letter that is suspected to be written by him, I couldn’t help but notice that being about working didn’t just mean farming (although he did feature farming in the letter prominently to relate to the peasantry) he meant all the trades that a man could earn his keep from. And it’s still obvious to anyone with eyes how special their artisans, architects and tradesmen must have been.

I would also make a request for a geography episode, but that wouldn’t be for me, because I’m really big on geography, I just know most Americans (I mean, I call it the Great Gunplay Republic, but that’s because I’m a weirdo) are absolutely dreadful at geography and I want my countrymen to understand the big picture of the Middle Ages better, and without the geographical understanding they’re missing half the contributing factors of history. Geography is about 50% of historical understanding with context and the timeline of events being the other 50%.

Jaffa was basically built entirely by Germanics. So funny. There’s still a lot of Norman architecture still standing to this day there, and then in WWII there was the exchange agreement and Germany sent many of their Jews to Jaffa, the camps were originally like… staging areas before sending people to Jaffa, but then bad things happened and a lot of people died. At the very beginning of the process there were a lot of Jews who were allowed to leave Germany and many went to Jaffa. Very interesting history of that city.
Obviously sayings Germanic people built it all by themselves is pure hyperbole, but the contributions are certainly undeniable.
