    Had to use shims with my oil pump chain from IR to fit rite. Love the m10 motor running 18lb boost with megasquirt in a e30.

    Paint the sump black, and leave the head polished alloy. Then you could polish the block and clearcoat it so it doesnt rust.

      Ohh, interesting! It does looks good all clean and with a polish it would look awesome, definitely something to consider! Cheers bro👌.

    Black valve cover with white lines and colored bmw logo.

      That does sound nice! Was that a factory color scheme?

      Modify Or Die i don’t think so, but there’s an orange e10 locally here with that valve cover and it’s beautiful.

    Dan, make sure you Loctite your exhaust manifold studs into the head or they normally leak oil 😉
    What turbo are you using?
    Any reason you used a Tii manifold as against a E21 M10 injection one?

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  5 років тому

      Hey, yes they can be tricky as they go through the head, got those loctited in for sure! Its a small t3t4 hybrid, quick spool. Went with the TIi manifold for the look and the challenge. I have a couple m10 injection manifolds on standby in case something doesn't work, but I am really happy with how it look so far :).

      Learned about the stud leak the hard way haha

    I would probably go for all black, but that's just my taste, if you don't want to, I would suggest you pick a color that's kind of close to the car's color, but slightly darker.

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  5 років тому +1

      Hey! I too am generally on that all black look, but I like your idea with the different shade of colour to the silver paint! Cheers!

    • @hozisalehi
      @hozisalehi 5 років тому

      @@ModifyOrDie it would actually be nice though. If you're going for silver, something like, dark gray? Or even gunmetal! Would be very awesome, makes the engine stand out a bit, but not too much.

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  5 років тому +1

      @@hozisalehi Yeah, that's the idea, nothing in your face. Going to go get some samples tomorrow and see how they look ✌️.

      Light BMW silver with all the other black. I agree with a light polish on the aluminum, but maybe paint is ok too. Light color let's you spot leaks of course

    Also about the drain situation, have you considered that the only time there is 4 liters of oil in there, is when the engine is not running?
    In theory, when you start, the oil pump picks up some oil from the sump and pumps it through the engine, so you would have less than 4 liters in the sump? This is just my thinking, could very well be wrong.
    But also I think it would be less than ideal AFTER you turn off the engine, because all that oil would come down to the sump if I'm not mistaken, and it might block the drain from the turbo, even if only 40% is blocked. But if in the situation that all the oil is in the sump and 60% of the drain os still open, then the engine has been off for a while and you don't need to worry about the drain.
    Only testing it will tell.

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  5 років тому +1

      Hey, yeah that is a good point! Will fill it with oil and see where it sits not running and go from there, should be ok (hopefully), we will see :).

    which injectors you ended up using?

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  7 місяців тому

      EV14 LS injectors, pretty sure they're 380cc from memory. The biggest thing was the small size of the EV14 injector to fit under the intake with enough room for the rail etc.

  • @mikaelhiatt
    @mikaelhiatt 5 років тому

    where did you get the intake manifold?

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  5 років тому +1

      Hey, its a Tii manifold we had on a spare engine.

  • @itsluisandres

    Is that M10 from an E21 and if so it KJet?

    • @ModifyOrDie
      @ModifyOrDie  4 роки тому +1

      One of the engines we had was a k jet motor, we ended up using the 2002 carb one, but they are very similar and all are convertible to EFI.
