- Video of assembling the cylinder head for my built -ish M10 which will be going into my 2002 turbo. Part 1 is the intro and top end, part 2 will be the bottom end subscribe so you don't miss that. Here I can be seen using a rare factory tool to put my head together, hopefully there's some good tech tips here to help people out. This 2 liter engine is being assembled with forged .020 over pistons, ARP main bearing studs, ARP rod bolts, a windage/crank scraper, MLS headgasket, stainless steel valves (39mm exhausts with faces ceramic coated), IE heavy duty rocker arms, heavy duty valvesprings, threaded and capped rocker shafts, ARP head studs, and a few other special modifications to handle boost.

Nice step-by-step video! Redoing a 2.7 M20 stroker and an M10 now so it's nice to see a clear video on what you are doing. Now I'm wondering if I want to do turbo on the M10..... dang it! You're the devil!
They wake RIGHT up with a little boost haha. I'm editing part 2 right now. Thanks for subscribing man I appreciate it!
Remember for next time, you put the valves in first and than the valve stam seals. The seals come with a special sleeve so the don’t get damaged while gliding over the sharp ridges on the valve stam. The head is indeed a good and affordable choice for a turbo build. Also the e21 2.0 head is quite good for this purpose but way more rare. Good luck! 👍🏿
I have an early e21 2.0 head, 3 1983 1.8i heads, and 1 1984 e30 1.8i head. I’d prefer to use one of the 3 1983 e21 heads but could you tell me exactly why it’s best to go with one of the other two options?
@@samhulk318i they are identical but the e21 1.8i head has holes in the inlet for injectors. With the e30 head they are closed. If you use the e21 head with carbs or itb’s than you have to close those holes. Or make the injectors in it.
I remember thinking exactly the same thing when torquing down the oil rail banjo bolt.
Definitely one to pay attention to
Epic video! Good to see that videos coming out 🙏

Very nice and helpfull video!! I'm going to rebuild my m10b18 this winter and make it turbo ready! Do you have a link for those heavy duty rocker arms? They look wayy stronger
There's a few companies that make them including VAC, IE, and Dynotech SE
How much hp is this build expected to make 🤔
Haha, are you guy on Craigslist installing cams on the peninsula?

Hey thanks for subscribing. They're super rare man, probably best to make your own. Remind me when this video series is over and I can probably make a video showing how it was fabricated.
@@10mm awesome, id love to see how it is fabricated.
Is that block from E12 520 M10?
That is a great question I actually have no idea! A buddy of mine was using it as a wine rack
I really enjoy and lots of good information video.
Wondering if a E21 early 320i(2L) engine is comparable ?
