Just take the old man out for a cookie again that will spike his happiness! Love the work I’m restoring a 68’ 2002 atm
wade hahah! Good point mate, he’s overdue a cookie 😊. Nice! Good to hear people are bringing them back to life, hope your build goes to plan!
This is awesome it's great to see other channels doing boosted M10s. Subscribed.
Cheers Benjamin! I hope you enjoy what's to come.
@@ModifyOrDie I'm sure I will! We should collaborate on a video sometime.
Just binge watched all the parts as iam doing a m10 turbo build aswell. Great work guys looking forward to more videos.
Cheers mate! Good luck with your build 🤘
hey guys, love the build! but what parts are you using? turbo? manifold? intake?
Hey Lucas, I will eventually make a video going through what we have used. Basically, an ebay manifold, small t3 turbo, Tii intake manifold with a custom adapter for a new throttle body (525i TB), LSX V8 EV14 injectors, E30 M10 fuel rail modified and customer lines, intercooler etc.
Looking really nice. I love how the freeze plugs really 'pop' from the silver. Did you have to use high temp paint, or is it not necessary on the block and head?
Yeah it’s decent contrast! Most paints can withstand the temperatures of a block and head, if well prepped it should last. You can always check the data sheet on the paint too 😊
I’m looking at buying a 2002. The one for sale has dual side draft Weber carbs. Maybe a challenge to set up (vacuum gauges help).
At a guess, you would need to fab an outlet on your manifold to read your vacuum.
Just bought an m10 '86 e30 and came up on your channel and love it! do you think it can make 180+bhp on stock internals? how much did this build cost you? looking forward to the summary of everything :) I would love to go down the turbo path and this resto' project is one of the most recent handy guides. Looking forward to more amazing content!
Hey Oliver, congrats on the E30! Yeah it should do, but it all depends on the block/head combination, condition and tune. Ours is a fairly low compression engine, E21 Head with flat pistons. For all the rebuild parts, turbo, manifold, wastegate, intake and exhaust, probably around $3k not including the cost of the actual engine it self, labour or the ECU. Thanks for the kind words, glad you are enjoying it :). Vid out soon on the overview of the engine build.
I have an E21 with a M10B20 but I don't like the KJet crap it has. How can I get away from that system with keeping my m10b20?
You can run electronic fuel injection and ignition. Off the top of my head, you will need a crank pulley pick up kit, an ECU like Megasquirt, coil pack, Fuel pump, Fuel rail, injectors (318i stuff fits) and a throttle body. There should be plenty of info online, as it has been done a fair amount. Hope that helps.
@@ModifyOrDie I just don't like that 318i air intake for the efi conversion 😔 lol
How much power do you think that engine can make?
Carter MacKenzie as it is we should be around the 200-250hp fairly safely. I’ve seen 800+hp m10s. Guess it depends how much you want to spend 🤟.
Modify Or Die there’s a 2002 for sale in my town, and im debating on making it a sleeper project car
Nice, that would be cool!
Modify Or Die I’m not super knowledgeable on bmw’s so please excuse my ignorance, but how much power can a stock bottom end handle on boost?
It’s hard to say, the bottom ends are solid and a good tuned motor should handle 20psi, but there are so many variables. It’s a light car and 2-300hp motor in it would be pretty rapid.
