Very helpful review, I've had the R5 bundle for several months and never really configured the settings to my liking, until I watched your video so thank you very much for going through all the settings and explaining what each does. The feeling of the wheel has improved greatly now that I've followed your settings.
The bolt pattern on the wheelbase is the same as all Fanatec (except dd1 &2), so your plate does have holes that line up with all four screws, you just need to find the correct holes. Nice review!
Thank you. That was the most informative and thorough review on the R5 I have seen. You showing your settings and explaining the reasoning behind them sets this review apart from the others. My R5 and brake pedal upgrade is on its way.👍
thanks, after having the R5 for a year its time to re review my settings, still and never has felt right since i had it , but thought it was because i was new to racing. Will try some different settings , so thank you for the guide and information.
@@Doughtinator ACC predominantly, i tell you what mate , these settings are faboulous 😎 i feel like i have a new wheel altogether. Now it just feels right , so thank you very much. Sub earned 🙌🍻 Keep up the good work!
Really glad to hear you never got any overheating. I've read a lot online of people having their r5 base overheat and lose FFB, so it's great to know you never had that issue.
Yeah I also heard that from other reviews. Mine barely got warm to touch. Perhaps they were trying crazy high settings in games. But even so. I had mine set to max in the out house software and just do it didn’t clip in ACC. it felt strong to me. 👍🏻
I just ordered mine from direct from moza due to their sales pricing of the clutch pedal and wheel bundle and srp lite brake mod compared to other sellers. I'm looking forward to take sim racing seriously and hit the limits of this Moza r5 then step up to a Logitech g pro by next summer since i put 300 hrs on my g920 setup and was able to get professional lap times on Tsukuba and Suzuka and lastly on brands hatch with mx5 cup and gt3 cars and felt confident in my skill range with my g920 setup but hit clipping and want to get more lower times with the Moza r5 for more detailed ffb. I'm excited!
I'm looking to upgrade my Logitech G27. Total Moza package to have the same as the G27 (shifter, clutchpedal, brake imrovement) is 700+ euros. That's a lot of money. But your video explained clear the benefits. Thanks for that!
Yeah but the thing is, you don't have to get everything right away. You could for example get just the bundle first and then add the other stuff later down the line, you don't have to spend 700+ euros all at once.
Nice and thorough pair of review videos. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a good quality wheel. I'm looking to get a DD wheel in the future so Moza will definitely be on my radar when looking through the options.
you have the most detailed review on youtube for moza r5 in connection with ps5. Seems like it is a good option for many people. However, after thinking about it, i'm gonna pass moza. The only reason being the rasolution adaptor. it is more than $200 & I honestly believe that it is a joke. instead of spending extra $ on the adaptor I would rather buy something which is directly compatible. I really wish that moza can get the licensing for ps. btw, I got the psvr2 last week & gt7 feels like a completely different game when using psvr2. first time using a vr headset & it definitely surpassed my expectation.
I’m testing with it now. It’s very stiff. If you’ve not got a rig I’d avoid it. If you like a stiff brake then you’ll like it. I’ve modified mine quite a bit with a different spring and spacer. I’ll be covering in a new video. 👍🏻👍🏻
@@Doughtinator Good to know. I just ordered the R5 to get into Iracing. Watched a few reviews but yours by far was the most in-depth. Thanks and looking forward to more of your work.
Great review! Detailed and exhaustive topic;; Is it WORTH IT?. Thanks a lot man! I was wondering for months: whether the failing Fanatec offering attractively priced sets, or SiMagic [still expensive], or maybe DD from Thrustmaster. I was already leaning towards Moz, but more towards R9. However, after your review I'm ordering R5. Why? I also used only G29 before :) Thanks manGreat review! All though not all screws line up properly on the Moza R5 wheel base onto the GT Omega stand, Does the stand still manage to accommodate the wheelbase well enough?
How does the brake pedal feel without the upgrade? I'm looking to upgrade from a g29. Is the brake pedal a bit harder than the gas pedal just like with the g29 pedals? Is it stiff enough for it to feel like a brake pedal?
It’s a good question. As it comes stock in the R5 bundle it feels quite similar to the throttle pedal. It’s good if you don’t have a solid base to put your pedals. With the brake performance kit it makes it stiff. In my opinion a bit too stiff. I use the brake performance kit but I swapped out the kit spring with a softer one from an RC car.
Yeah and then you need the adapter. Around another £100. It’s not a cheap option but the force feedback crispness and materials quality is a huge step up over G29 👍🏻
Is there any oscillation issue during straights in GT7? Saw alot of ppl complaining regarding that.. Thank You! For the in depth explanation. I am on g29 but planning to buy either moza r5 or cammus c5
Hey man. It was great. But with new GT7 updates some of the group C cars do suffer. It’s ok if you hold the wheel. But if you let it go it can get quite a bit. New update 1.50 for GT7 today which might have improved this. I’ve not tied it yet tho.
@eddmecha I have a C5 too. It’s very good. Great value. I think the oscillating for some of the cars happens with all FFB. So I expect there will be improvements from Gran Turismo 7
@@Doughtinator nice!! Glad to hear that..got it at a very cheap price where the price is much cheaper than the time i bought my G29..cant wait to try it out!
Those pedals look to be really high quality compared to the low-end ones that come with the Fanatec GT DD Pro bundle.. I guess Fanatec want people upgrade to their more expensive pedals later on so they don't provide them in their bundle?
i cant stress this enough if you buy R5 bundle get a frame with it. Even the cheapest frame will do. cause pedals will be PAIN IN ASS if you use em without frame

@@MeTaMaNvR maybe I'll do the R5, just don't want to sink too much money into a starting steering wheel , I do have big hands so I also don't want an undersized wheel. on the R5, what I'm hearing is that if I want to go to the EUROTRUCK sim wheel or the American Truck SImulator, that the replacement semi truck sized wheel will not work well with the R5 because it needs the R9, in other words, it would probably over-heat? or no?

I wonder if a higher wattage power cable would deliver more torque like Fanitec wheel bases.
Perhaps. But I think it might be hard to find. Potential to overheat also.
