How cool to be handling a "6,000 year old piece of bog oak" like another can be picked up at The Home Depot. I'd be insanely happy to have that rectangular prism he's holding sitting on my desk. Knowing that horses and chickens were only then being domesticated while it was growing! Instead he fashions it into a handle for a chisel he rarely uses and is thrown in the tool box. God bless 'em.
There's no use for it on your desk and this guy doesn't live in America he lives in rural Ireland where there's not much builders providers around him.
As a cabinet maker I would probably have done something similar to what Eoin did. Whenever we use oak, it's at least half a century old, if not a few hundred years. Bog oak can be a bit expensive, but so are many exotic woods. Ash develops a brown core after 80 years and that's also quite popular to use. When you work with wood, you rarely think of how old it is, but instead about where you can use that particular piece. Personally I would have turned that piece of bog oak into either a fountain pen or a mechanical pencil and used it to write stuff with. That's always better than just having it lying around
@@ArterexiusThis. I'll never understand the mindset that having something laying around doing nothing but collecting dust and providing acquisition clout is a better use for something than, yanno, having an actual USE.

You brought back some pleasant memories, I´m retired now, but after a day´s blacksmithing I would go home, down to the cellar, and turn some wood. I still have the fruit bowl, plates and spice jars I made in Yorkshire, and now, living in southern Spain I occasionally carve spoons from olive branches. I made everything except a pile of money -- there's a saying here, in the blacksmith's house, are wooden knives.
You sir, need a large hand carved sign to draw more attention at the market. Great content, been wanting to install some handles on some bits i’ve come across.

I just found your videos today and honestly lowkey interested in what you're doing even though I've never been particularly interested before-- honestly could watch your videos all day and never get bored..
Hey Eoin, I just found you a few days ago, and I've been binge watching your videos. I have an inspiration to learn/craft the way you do. I've always loved the old method, but have NO idea where to start. I've made some outdoor benches and picnic tables, and I'm slowly building my tool list. What would you suggest for someone who doesn't even have a proper workbench? And while I know that's going to be the first thing you say, I'm still needing to get power into my detached garage, power added, and the floor leveled. I guess that's where I need to start... but AFTER that >_> Do you have course or book suggestions? Basic techniques to learn first? Hand tools (such as the hand Planer you show) to start with? I'll likely start with power tools, and slowly move away from them. But I have aspirations to eventually make Victorian Era furniture.... but I know that's a LONG ways away. Anyway. Keep up the good work! And thanks for the content!
You're into ye olde ways of woodworking and into photography. Have you ever played around with old fashioned photography tools and techniques? Tin types, old accordion cameras that sort of thing?
You know, you could probably set up a company in the US or somewhere with a creator fund, buy your own channel through that company, and have the money from TikTok go there. Then you could pay yourself through shareholder benefits or a salary. I’m sure there’s a legal means to do that. You might need to pay someone part of the profits to manage it, and you might get double-taxed, but you’d probably still get a decent chunk of change… If you’re nervous about navigating international policies, you could probably hire a tax accountant who’d help you set it up for less than the money you’d make from it.
Eoin I do hope UA-cam is paying you, you are so talented you deserve recognition. Have you thought of making something like bookends to sell while you’re doing exhibitions? I say bookends as I’m a book lovers and can’t resist wooden bookends. 😂
With how bad the economy is in greater Ireland, they should probably not punish gig workers, that's from some old discriminatory law used to punish Mincéirí trades.
My family is from Cork! How cool! I don't exactly know any of them because I've lived in California my whole life and haven't yet gotten the chance to travel there, but soon I will. Do you know any of the Ahern family?
Did I hear that right? There's no creator fund in Ireland? For a lad that has something worthwhile to share, and ACTUALLY creates something. Excuse me I have a mindless dance to go watch.
Ahhhhh yes, you have Vincent and I have "Harold", the Marsh Hare that sneaks under my fence and waits at my screen door for me to bring him his romaine leaves and fresh carrot daily..lol. I think he finds me much safer than the bobcats that run through our neighborhoods here in Florida, US.
I really like your content, the raw nature of the editing, and the skills you have really pop up on every video. Nice work on the shop! Greetings from Romania! 💯
What bothers me is the use of swear words on broadcast, or should I say, the lack of swear words. I thought bullocks was just anything angry word used by a different country, never thought of it as a swear word! Just like “Fuck” or any variation, what deems that a swear word?
Drone video's are excellent. I see that it's a bit cold, maybe briefly show temperature there in degrees and C? When turning bog oak, I've used CA on it while turning it to keep it from cracking/breaking off plus use it as a finish on small items. Good night Vincent!
Ca glue is cyanoacrylic glue, it's also used in combat injuries to seal wounds. For woodturners like me, I frequently glue my fingers together making my wife laugh so hard!
I’d love to be able to work restoring old tools, but unfortunately there’s so many people doing it now the prices have been driven up and it’s impossible to buy enough used tools to keep videos up, and of course you’re fighting against the 17million Asian UA-cam channels so I’d never get any traction.

@@ArterexiusThis. I'll never understand the mindset that having something laying around doing nothing but collecting dust and providing acquisition clout is a better use for something than, yanno, having an actual USE.
they can't though, they're rare
0:52 "how are ya liking that good and water I got ya" is the most Hardy Bucks thing ever. Love it.
Oh, I forgot. Thanks for looking out for Vincent. I love birds, too. I have 3 budgies (smaller parakeets)

Love the tune selection! This is a tune I learned off a man at the horse fair above in ballinasloe, it's a tune called the hoor among the nettles roaring , lay her off Pa!

Vincent picked a real winner! I want to be alive ten years from now to see what evolved from your today. You're the happiest person on UA-cam in my opinion. All Aces everything coming up roses. Go Ireland!!
Another grand video, we have been blessed🙌
Love the vlogs! Your kind heart speaks volumes about you.

You sir, need a large hand carved sign to draw more attention at the market. Great content, been wanting to install some handles on some bits i’ve come across.
I really think you should blur the licence plates man. Some people are weird.

I was in Cork this holidays for 2 days..was a very nice place! sadly didnt go/know of the marina market looked like a good place to spent some time!
Greatings!
Love this man. 10/10 lovely human being
I just found your videos today and honestly lowkey interested in what you're doing even though I've never been particularly interested before-- honestly could watch your videos all day and never get bored..
I love your birdie!!! :)
I can’t believe you’re putting Vincent on a diet. Just let him enjoy a big meal.
Hey Eoin,
I just found you a few days ago, and I've been binge watching your videos.
I guess that's where I need to start... but AFTER that >_>
Do you have course or book suggestions? Basic techniques to learn first? Hand tools (such as the hand Planer you show) to start with?
I'll likely start with power tools, and slowly move away from them. But I have aspirations to eventually make Victorian Era furniture.... but I know that's a LONG ways away.
Anyway. Keep up the good work! And thanks for the content!
Did the lass ask if you were the lad from tik tok and you said no!?
Think so yeah

Useless wings why you gotta do him like that lol
Did I hear that right? There's no creator fund in Ireland? For a lad that has something worthwhile to share, and ACTUALLY creates something. Excuse me I have a mindless dance to go watch.
Ahhhhh yes, you have Vincent and I have "Harold", the Marsh Hare that sneaks under my fence and waits at my screen door for me to bring him his romaine leaves and fresh carrot daily..lol. I think he finds me much safer than the bobcats that run through our neighborhoods here in Florida, US.
"Ya don't do much calorie burns with those useless wings...do ya?!"🤣
I really like your content, the raw nature of the editing, and the skills you have really pop up on every video. Nice work on the shop! Greetings from Romania! 💯

What bothers me is the use of swear words on broadcast, or should I say, the lack of swear words. I thought bullocks was just anything angry word used by a different country, never thought of it as a swear word! Just like “Fuck” or any variation, what deems that a swear word?
The ol' Parkside lathe with the EvoStik glue! So strange watching your videos knowing you are just down the county 😅Great stuff nonetheless!
damn I'm all the way in the Netherlands unfortunately would've loved taking pictures for you (it's my job haha)
Drone video's are excellent. I see that it's a bit cold, maybe briefly show temperature there in degrees and C? When turning bog oak, I've used CA on it while turning it to keep it from cracking/breaking off plus use it as a finish on small items. Good night Vincent!
Cheers for the advice. Might be a stupid question but what is CA. Some sort of epoxy resin?
@@EoinReardonit's super glue 👍🏻
Love the videos man, keep em comin.
Brilliant stuff ❤
Keep busy Captain
All the best
I work in the Mercy Hospital, in cork city . I've never been to the marina market. I must take the wife down for a treat

the video itself looks very interesting! love the style of the footage - what camera setup are you using?
@Eoin Reardon , Hullo my friend. I am a carpenter by trade, but I am currently unemployed. I spend most days editing videos as it is, and the rest of my days are spent consuming youtube content. I am not currently in cork, but would relocate in a heartbeat. Please reach out to me, if you are still looking for a pair of hands.
