I could listen to Eoin for hours, watching him is a bonus, it's the listening that does it for me. And, considering I'm Irish, and we never listen anyways, that's saying a lot!!
I definitely know that feeling of hand cutting a mortis... in the wrong part... wrong piece. Absolutely frustrating. But that's how we learn. Love that you include the mishaps. Makes your videos more real and genuine. Love it.
It is truly a majestic place so rich in culture and history, the lore you find behind certain practices in Ireland, Scotland and Wales all stem from such a great source. I plan to visit the town my family came from in southern Ireland at some point, til then this lad makes me feel at home.
I'd say its a good 12 out of 10 on that chair, you want the imperfections and character in a piece like that, otherwise you might as well just go to a shop and buy some mass produced shite. On your broken saw, when you're supergluing something together like that, throw a bit of baking powder on the wet glue, not only does it set the glue off quicker but it dries harder, more like an epoxy or fibreglass, you can then file or sand it and you'll get a really strong bond which is ideal for something like a saw handle that takes a lot of stress.
Thats it exactly, this chair is "one of a kind" Thanks for the tip about the baking powder, It will definitely come of use at some point. I fixed it with some wood glue in the end and that seems to be holding up alright.
Any fine powder works with that super glue, including sawdust! Just keep a handful of different colored fine sawdust so not only will it cure quicker, but you can match the color.
@@bruwin this is true, but there's some chemical shenanagins that goes on with baking powder which makes it set like an epoxy too so if you need something to be mad strong then baking powder is your man
One of the lads here, lassie to be precise. l was intrigued by your accent, could not figure it out, thought it was Tipp, anyway, stayed to pick few advices. Really refreshing and straightforward. Many thanks and blessings.
The pub was vandalized, what a surprise. I used to do roadwork construction in Ireland as a student. Every machine had wire mesh guards on the windows not because of worries about construction debris breaking them but because if they weren’t protected someone would come along and smash those windows. I’m in the states now and every time I see construction equipment parked along the road I marvel that the windows aren’t protected because it’s very rare to have them vandalized.
I only found this guys content about a month ago, but I absolutely love his style and personality! It’s obvious he cares about what he does, and his passion shows in his work. Honestly, it makes me want to try and pick up a chisel and try some small woodworking.
Holy Sheep, my friend! This is a fantastic series of shorts put together, or perhaps a great video chopped up then reassembled. Great job and thanks for sharing. Love it! And the work you do.
Eoin you're inspirational - I'm a powertool nut with all the Festool tools but you've led me back the satisfaction use of "truely" handmade. Dusting off my old handtools now.
This guy would definitely be a hit on tik tok that and that Irish charm of his genuinely would love to meet him and spend the time to learn what he knows of woodworking and carpentry
I'm beginning to understand where all the broken handle tools that I've watched you fix in your shorts come from 😅 The chair and their new handles are gorgeous 😍
Want you to know that a grandmother in Portland, Oregon USA is thrilled to find you. I was searching for a lesson in making a hatchet handle. FOUND YOU! LUCKY Me
How long till Eion has 1million subs. I'll give it a year. This is truly entertaining even the comments to the dog are gold. I feel like I a lististening to Eions grandfather. Fantastic old one liners
I love your videos and personality. To be honest, I think you should record every bit of your work. Yeah the jump cuts are good for the shorts but you can make a longer video and cut it into parts and upload more frequently. A lot of people including myself in the comments would watch them.
I love this Tommy Shelby making chairs ASMR. Jokes aside though, I LOVE your channel. I'm not even a handyman. I suck at crafts and stuff like this. You're the first channel to make me feel authentically passionate about WOOD. If you don't already, you should consider teaching at a college or workshop or something like that.
Hello from america! I love your content! I am 27 & grew up watching an old show ran by a man named roy underhill. He did old-fashioned hand tool furniture making. Your content reminds me alot of his work. I'm glad to see a guy like you interested in the old style of making things. Keep up the awsome work!
A scholar and a gentleman, keep this craft alive, I wish I had the health and youth to do what you do. The wood didn't start talking to me until I was lame, love watching you work though.
Truly amazing! Very good work. Can't believe I haven't come across your channel yet. But it has earned it's spot in my top favs within 2 videos. Erin Go Bragh from Texas, lad!
I know you do things traditional, so it might be counterintuitive, but could you PLEASE do a tier list of your favourite species of wood, like in terms of looks and workability, I’d love to hear your opinion on that topic
6:27 i help my mom with making pasta and bread and so on, and i have had the same things said to me by my friends (well not in an irish accent) i feel you haha
Sadly, we've all been there, every tool breaks or doesn't work right. Lol, love how you kept all that in the video. Shows the realism of working with your hands and tools
Really love your charm, would like videos of longer duration and deatailed rather than the short ones. Your video about restoring that old drill was top notch, can we get some more of those, gael?
This Irish twink is so entertaining, he's an old soul and proof that reincarnation is real. He's using antique tools as an expert, an expertise that takes at least a lifetime or if not two to develop.. His mastery of Irish English jam packed with double entendres, innuendos, poetry, humor, sexiness and wit is hot. 😊😮
I absolutely love the freshly made one, compared to the machined oak. Shame I live so far or I'd come pay ya to make me one, if you would or had time and all that. You're a fine craftsman, I'm sure you know it but it probably doesnt hurt hearin' it xx sending ya favor from Oregon 🌲
Great job man! Like your style!Visiting Ireland after 25 years This weekend. Any idea of a flea market between Carlow and Dublin for Sunday morning? Just in case I have brain after having a pint with friends on saturday night...😂. Just one, promis..er ... I mean Ill try..
Love the video but I (maybe not alone) would prefer it being shot vertically? Hope you make a few cents on those videos to get a better camera! Or maybe something else went wring because 460p is a bit very low for these times
Hi Eoin, Was watching another video where somebody tried to duplicate linseed soaked rags catching fire, Was wondering if you ever had any close calls or experience you could chime in with, We are stuck at crossroads where we know it combusts but we can't get it to for some variable.
I truly wish you would make videos that are longer. Like 20-30 minutes. I love watching your videos I just dont like how short they are. I like to see everything you are doing from start to finish.
If you are in too handtools this much, try and make a larger wooden foreplane and a try plane, I guarantee the only thing you will use the NR.5 to flatten those planes, having a larger, lighter, less friction than a constantly waxed metal plane is so much better.
