One of the last good marine engines. Now they have catalysts and O2 sensors . Open loop was great on Merc’s and Volvo’s. Cats and O2 don’t last long on boats. If you are used boat shopping keep that in mind.
When the engine is in the boat there are a couple of plugs that are nearly impossible to get to let alone trying to use on torque wrench on them. Lucky for me my hands are calibrated so it's no problem, I just listen for the sound of my wrist to click...
That cap should be factory marked as to what cylinder the wires go to. How about cleaning the thotle body ,oil change. The only way timing changes is with timing chain wear, distubtor wear or you moved it. What about adding Merc. Injector cleaner to the gas and what about the water separator filter. This is a very poor attempt at a maintenance video
Do you give suggestions on engine problem? I have a Mercruiser MPI Horizon 350 and have a bad hesitation between 2000 up to 3000 rpms. I went through all ignition parts, now i am looking at fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator as a possible issue. I have watched some videos on FPR's and know that is the diaphragm fails then fuel will leak into it, that is not happening on mine. Any suggestions how to further isolate which part it could be so i am not just throwing parts at it? Also pulled my injectors out and sent them out for cleaning and testing, but no help when i put them back in.
do you have to remove the riser to get to the spark plugs. i need to do a compression check. fired my 4.3 inboard/outboard and water was coming out of the air cleaner. blew something just don't know what
No. You dont have to pull the risers to get to the spark plugs, if you have water coming out of the intake dont turn the engine over untill you get the water out. Sounds like you should put a bullet in that thing.
Help I can’t find a video anywhere on replacing or where to find the parts to replace a fuel injection regulator for a 1980 Grady white it is a 5.7 Chevy but everything I find online looks different
The plugs are torqued only at 11 ftlbs? That seems very low. Typically plugs with no washers are torqued at 11 ftlbs, and the ones with the crush washer at about 15 ftlbs. I am not sure if the torque value in this video is correct? Can someone confirm?
This video is a joke !!!. Completely different with the motor on a friggin engine stand compared to what really needs to be done when the motor is in the boat.
yeah, now show us how easy it is to change the plugs on an engine actually IN THE BOAT ....
hahah I hang upside down lol
Yea step one, dislocate your left arm and knee so you can fit inside the engine bay and reach the rear plugs.
For a moment, just for a moment, I fantasized my engine sat atop my engine compartment. Oh, how sweet that would be.
how nice when the engine is out of the boat and in the shop. easy
You need to add anti-size to the plugs so they don't rust in the heads.

So take your engine out and send it to a dealer or drive your boat to the dealership?

Sorry I bug you, can you tell me how to change de alternator on exactly same engine like you did the tun up, thank you
Any goon can change the plugs on an engine stand.
Use a wire type feeler gauge to check gap. The wedge style can damage the plug tip.
What plugs do you recommend

20 ft . lbs.
How do I get my engine out like you did so that it’s easy to do all the maintenance on it? 😂
JFC! My little girl can do this.
Now put the motor in the boat and repeat!
Exactly !!!.
Hola, donde está la válvula de temperatura ralentí del mercruiser 4.5 v6
did he say: how to do a tune up:take it to the dealer!
Do Not Gap Iridium Spark Plugs!!!!! 🤦♂️
I'am done with boats can't wait to get rid of mine.
Me too too much fixing. Best thing about boating is going to the club and get rid of owning one
