Excellent video, recently my SHA30 stopped working. Found out it was the main shaft bearing! This video helped me a ton putting it back together! Thank you! Life saver!
One thing I find when doing these,is if you remove that little O ring that you broke, first, the main gear comes off easier....it is then easier to remove the drag washers, once the main gear, with the washers, is off. Good to finally see one of these reels being done on UA-cam. 🎣
thanks david the gears are always very stiff on the slosh reels even the older slosh needs a bit of persuasion and yes i found in both the reels the little rubber o ring was broke could that be wear and tear does not seem to cause any issues thou i was thinking it must have spilt under pressure from the drag
thanks for posting this. Used this to help service my 30SH where my spool wasn't engaging when i turned the handle. cleaned it out just like you suggested and put the dog leg back in right orientation and it seems to be working fine now. much smoother than before too
Brilliant detailed video Paul, you've obviously had them apart many times before, no doubt you could strip and rebuild them blind folded 😂. I love my slosh's, especially the SHV30, personally I think its best to keep them as they are and not mag them, as having the use of the ratchet is far more useful. Like you I just put plenty rocket fuel in the bearings and adjust the spool tension to slow the reel to my needs.
Thank you for sharing this fab video Paul, I have the slosh 30 that needs a service but never had the knowledge of where to start and not knowing of an expert who service reels. Mine might need just a good clean and re-greasing maybe some new bearings as it's not running particularly fast and the spools makes a grating noise when casting, so thanks again for this maintenance video and I'm going to have a go since this lockdown is stopping me going fishing 👍
@@StarfishSeaFishing no problem Paul thanks for the info I'll have a look on ebay for the full set of bearings then I know they are all new thanks again 👍
@@StarfishSeaFishing that's true Paul just found a full set on ebay £15.15 cheap as chips. I'm not a big caster more of over the head thump but want to do the otg cast but as I say the reel doesn't sound sweet and the spool is not spinning as it should. So new bearings and set up properly should get it running properly, what is the best grease to use when servicing 👍

Hi mate great video! Very helpful. Was wondering would the cast control cap on that fit on a sl30sh, lost mine and the only replacement parts I can come across is for a x30. Thanks in advance!
Have you any info on the bearing upgrade kit to make the Sealine X 20SHV/A the same as the Grandwave 20 I did purchase the 6 bearing kit off eBay but one of the bearings doesn't fit my sealine X 20SHV ...but it still makes a huge difference in the smoothness of the running of the reel, I do like my reel to run fast so I've also upgraded the spool bearings to abec 9 ceramics from Acer Racing it is now a flying machine use this reel for shore fishing aswell as Pollack and Bass wrecking with 330m of 0.24mm 40lb braid ..
Hi Paul, my slosh 30 drag seems to be slipping when I cast out. If I reel it in sometimes the it struggles to bring the line back and even tightening the drag fully doesn't change the drag, it still slips. Would me servicing it following your instructions cure this, perhaps water has got into it? Really would appreciate your advice.

I'm glad I'm retired, have access to UA-cam to walk me through these steps because any other time I would be purchasing another reel.

I have a sealine x 50hv I'm wondering on assembly right before crank. Any clues?
no sorry
i’m wondering why my reel can’t go into free spool, i flip it and it just stays in reel mode. any idea what could fix this?
look at 16.09 and check the plate is correct
It comes with red and black brakes what’s the difference?
Red are the harder brake blocks and will slow the reel down quicker
