    I find that breaking a siren tail help me a lot against them, slowing them down help a lot in dealing with them.
    they struggle to get in to melee or get out after a mind control

    One of the most dangerous enemies in the game is a Siren with its head disabled.
    Its melee attack is much worse than its mind control ability since it will do 160 damage plus 40 bleed, which is enough to either one-shot kill a basic soldier on Legend difficulty or do enough damage to soldiers that they bleed out and die before your next turn. Heck, if both of. Siren’s melee attacks hit and disable your soldier’s torso, then any soldiers with less than 25 strength is dead.
    When disabling a Sirens head, I recommend following that up by either War Cry or panicking the Siren by pumping them full of some biochemical virus. Or kill a couple enemies on the map-after taking out the head.
    Most Sirens have about 4 to 6 willpower remaining once their head is disabled. So one burst of a virus weapon or taking out two or three low-level enemies will do the trick.
    As for dealing with them slithering away after mind controlling a soldier, you can make it harder for a Siren to do that by falling back. That will force them to spend more AP moving in to mind control. And given a choice between going in for a mind control on one turn or waiting for the next turn when the Siren will have more movement to escape, the Siren will always go for a mind control. They will even snake through an overwatch trap just to get the chance to mind control a soldier. They love mind control so much they will literally die for the chance to do it.
    Taking out the Siren’s tail first not only is easier to do at range but also slows them down-making them easier to wreck with overwatch shots and it much harder for the Siren to escape and hide after doing its mind control shenanigans. A siren will-if it has to-move in for 3 AP, mind control a soldier for 1 AP, and just stand there in the open-for your entire squad to light up on your turn.

      Disabled it’s head and legs, let it get close…
      Lost 3 people trying to stun it, but we got it.

      Yeah, they're nasty. Usually when a mission goes south for me, it's because of one of these Sirens. Glad you're enjoying the videos!

    Not sure if something changed since this video was recorded but during my current playthrough I encountered a siren (not sure the type tbh) right at the entry of a nest and it had 62 endurance as I started to shoot with Synedrion paralyzing pistols so saw it straight away on the first turn. I also managed to do it in one turn. What helped was the fact that I had 2 or 3 snipers with me and all of them had those pistols and additionally the ability to lower their AP cost for a shot by 1, so basically I had 2-3 shoots from the pistol for "free" for each of them plus 4 standard APs - which was more than enough to bring it down and paralyze for good.

      Huh. Yeah, I don't know - as far as I'm aware, unless you're running mods, the Banshee has the highest health at 530 health, 53 endurance. Maybe something changed, though, like you said. But yeah, a whole team with stun weapons can take them down fast, especially if you have quick aim. You do have to mind the Siren Armis, though, her armor is strong enough to stop Hera shots on all of her body locations. Gotta hit her with some shred first!

    I think you could do a special on flamethrowers and flame damage. I find flamethrowers one of the most powerful sidearms for heavys, or for any soldier with heavy secondary class.
    Flamethrowers is always a good option, mostly because the siren always moves and because an armour of 20 will result in half of the fire damage is going trough. If you got their armour low with a grenade the flamethrower is really one of the best weapons.

    Did you see any Siren using Acid Torso? Because I have played more than 2000 hours and they never did that, only if I MC one accessing her abilities

    • @JericsGamescape
      @JericsGamescape  2 роки тому

      I want to say I saw it happen once, but I'm not even totally sure about that. I suspect the parameters of when the AI chooses to use it are pretty specific. Mind Control is the Siren's go-to attack, so the Siren would have to either be out of WP or have its head disabled first. Either of those cases also takes Psychic Scream out of the picture as well. After that, the claw attack is more effective choice, and I suspect it will select that if it can, so probably even then it's only going to use acid spray if it can close to within 6 tiles of an enemy but can't get to melee range. This is all theoretical, of course. I don't know how the AI is actually making the decision, (or if it ever does at all, even!), but I suspect the parameters are something like this. You're not going to see it very often, if ever, but the siren does have the ability so I wanted to include it in the guide.

    Are you sure that Armor Break multiplies the shred value? I'm playing a game now and it seems to be dividing the total shred value by the number of shots (so you get the same total shred with it regardless of whether you're using a hand gun or a shotgun, for example)

    • @JericsGamescape
      @JericsGamescape  2 роки тому +2

      It doesn't multiply exactly. It adds +30 shred to each attack, and it specifically says in the power description that blast damage attacks (like grenades) get the damage boost to every body part hit. So the grenade itself does 10, then you add +30 for armor break, and every part hit should take 40 shred. I have been noticing that it doesn't seem to work that way with grenade launchers for some reason. I haven't tested it out much, but I've had a couple of games where I used a GL with Boom Blast and Armor Break, and the grenade was shredding 30 armor instead of 40. The first time I noticed was against a Pure with the Juggernaut torso, which is 45 armor, and instead of knocking it down to 5, it knocked it down to 15. I haven't had a lot of time since I discovered it to really dig into it, but I will get there sooner or later. Burst-fire weapons like ARs and MGs with armor break I'm less sure about and I could be wrong about them.

    • @JericsGamescape
      @JericsGamescape  2 роки тому +1

      Upon further investigation, it appears that, for burst weapons like MGs, the 30 shred damage distributed over the total rounds in the burst, (or maybe the total rounds of the burst that hit? Not sure...). Also, it appears that, while the description says "additional" 30 shred, it's really just 30 total shred, regardless of what the underlying weapon would normally do. Thank you for pointing this out!
